Do your different runtimes have different names? Or there might be something off with the file structure of the one that crashes.

raingod, is the plus button in your library panel not working? (I hope I'm remembering this correctly. I'll check next time I start the program.)

structure, thanks for those pointers, but it does appear to have been an issue with https://www.posersoftware.com/downloads being down. I started Poser now, and it's fine, so I'll go ahead with the update.

A bit more regarding my current issue: I had Poser 11.2 check for updates. Now whenever I try to start it, I get the registration window.

I try to launch Poser 11 and the product registration window comes up. The page for updates appears to be broken. Are these issues connected?

Jin, spawn props didn't work in this case—it just created another copy of the whole prop. But thanks for the suggestion.
donnena, I may've goofed up something, but I didn't succeed. It's no biggie—I will spend some time with the manual on the grouping tool, and I currently have a copy of the prop with the other parts made invisible, which does the job for now.
The chair is from Gumdrops: Mille Delices Dark Library, which sometimes goes on sale. I'm rescaling it for M4 and V4, which seems to work best so far by reducing some parts to 60% and others to 75%. The grouping tool has helped enormously.

I had no problem separating some parts of the prop (the books and the candleabras), but the chair cushions turned black and I can't figure out why. I tried copying the cushion material of the original chair and pasting it onto the new chair prop, but that didn't help. Any ideas?

And learning how to do what I wanted with the grouping tool turns out to be pretty easy. Being able to select by material helped enormously.

donnena, thanks for the info. My guess is that Poser thinks the pieces are a single prop, so it will only recognize the whole thing. I tried clicking on the chair and doing as you said, but that only made a copy of the entire prop.
Clearly, it's time for me to learn about the grouping tool. I'll poke through the manual now. Thanks for the pointer!
Thread: How do I turn the body parts of a figure (a set) into separate props? | Forum: Poser 11 / Poser Pro 11 OFFICIAL Technical
Kalypso and nerd, thank you! It appears to have worked easily and perfectly. Now I want to go through my collection and divide all my figures.
Thread: Is 11.2 the current version? My updater says there's a newer one. | Forum: Poser 11 / Poser Pro 11 OFFICIAL Technical
Complete agreement. Giving us that information should be the industry standard. We know that some updates are done to address issues that we may not have.

Ah! Thanks! I have 11.2.272.
I wish there was another way to check that besides restarting the program.
Thread: Which Genesis? Which Poser? | Forum: Poser 11 / Poser Pro 11 OFFICIAL Technical
I'd go for Poser 11 because I really like the comic book mode, but if you're ready to move on from V4, I would look at other options before committing to one of the Genesis models. You might start by experimenting with the free Sasha-16.
