:):) Amiga versus Atari >> had been kind of a mild civil war at some times! And, yes: there is a reason for Moray! The most I did with POVray had been an unregular shaped cube - well if I think of it: POV did this, not me:). So, if you look at the innovation dycles of today - wonder where we are in two years from now! Implants, I guess. Getting updates by looking at some code.
Thread: Vue5i and Poser6?? | Forum: Vue
... funny how a thread changes - if you find a better issue along the way! I am really enjoying this. Never thought that there would be that many "seniors" around!! Gon on, please :): any Amiga-folks around by any chance?? Had been my second machine (after tuning the C64 up a bit - involved adding hardware to your floppy in a way that you had to keep it open, no way to close the box anymore), and felt just like heaven!!

I've just been told - another forum, same issue - that there would be nothing like "good old times". Quite frankly: "bs"!! As long as one does still remember where she/he came from...! It is not about comparing the glories of those days past with the rushes of our days, it's just a part of the experience. Glad that I - and a couple of other folks - got them!!

@xenophonz, thank you! Well, my day just started (7 hours + your time), and best dreams are daydreams (you should try that), so: how about another trip backwards to the times of the C64 (16 colors, SIMULTANIOUSLY!!). Wonder what makes me feel THAT old!! :)

Tank you for your different insights - seems to be a good advise to take it slow and easy! As long as Vue5i can read pz3's (from P5) and objBryce format, there is no real pressure to buy any hasty done software. Gone are the times where you not had been forced to look for a bugfix (not to be confused with an UPDATE) the moment you opened up the package! Good old times!
Thread: Why Keep P5 after Upgrading? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
@maclean: my post had been done from the view of a Vue-user. Being this, I like the way how Studio handles the files (size), I like the easy way how I can alter textures in Studio (attributes), knowing the gyro I can't say how I ever got along with the dials. There is more to Studio that makes it first choice (you've mentioned some of them - having a fast and friendly feetback is just one of them). De-installing P4 and P5 left me in no way more "poor". It resulted in gaining speed and HDD room. The post had been done not to advise anybody to do or don't anything, just a reminder.
Thread: Why Keep P5 after Upgrading? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hmmmm....
I think that the initial question is needing an addition. In my honest opinion ist should read something like
"Wy keep P5 after upgrading IF THERE STILL IS DAZSTUDIO"!?
Really, if you are looking for a proggie that does everything that P5 does, but only faster, better looking, easier to handle >> get the FREE DAZStudio and you can wait in a relaxed manner for the last bugfix of Poser6.
Chances are that you decide to work without Poser6, but anyway: DAZStudio and Vue (RIGHT, just use the "objBryce" format) are like meant for each other - until the compatibility of Poser6 & Vue is there.
:)!!

Thanks a lot!! That covers all I wanted/needed to know (found the gingerbread man allready:)). Life will be easier from now on - I hope!
Thread: Buyers Beware of e off | Forum: Vue
Getting better and better: if you can't use a software with Poser, then it must be "crap"?! Folks, using Poser 5 you must be in love with bugs!! This is leading nowhere - off to make room for Vue pro!!
Thread: Buyers Beware of e off | Forum: Vue
But - Vue has some counterparts, mean: it is not the only terraformer otu there, right? You are not forced to buy Vue if you don't like any aspect of the software, the marketing. so if you want it lowprice: get terra edit - if you want to spend a bit more for well done soft: get Animateks World-Builder, if you want to have it both low price and "professional" (well, almost) go and get yourself some Bryce, try Vistapro or Mojo...! See what I mean? No use in complaining about buggy software that you don't want to use anyway. If you can't get it straight with the folks at Vue - try one of those others, there MUST be one that suits your needs!?

@abirdonawire: I agree with you in saying that any piece of software should at least 90% (and then you are lucky) what it is meant to do. Just have a look at our dear Windows: it has become a habit for some of the softwareindustrie to bless us with half done things. But: the initial post >> this member mixed up upgrades with sidegrades, complained about big money to spend and a few lines farther down he adviced to use MAX instead of Vue - must have taken some funny herbs to get in THAT mood!! I am a sidegrader from Bryce, own 4.1? and ordered pro last friday, still hoping that the new version will be ok (if not, well - I found the folks of e-on friendly and professinal. Maybe because I did not proove myself a maniac :-)!!).

Thread: Poser 5 Blues | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
@r10k: Surely (for overdoing things), I did it at that point because I was talking of our new software in general. But: would a defunct of 25% make you a happier person? We pay 100%, right? Why, please, can't we get 100% functionality from "them"?? I have seen software since I got first my Commodore C64, been on the Amiga, and finally on Win-driven machines. We got more powerful machines by now, and likewise the software allows for much more to be creative - no reason to nag, after all?? Well: just remember your first Poser, Truespace, even Word :) >> those proggies were done careful - compaired to a lot of what we can expect "to day". And: this will never change - unless WE, the users find some kind of common voice! ranting part 2: over:)

Poser 5 on a PIII/850MHz with 785 MB RAM, a Parhelia with 128 MB RAM, on a Sony 20" >>> even Bryce is a racehorse compaired to Poser5. And: reducing the the screen-resolution?? Maybe set the colours to 256?? You MUST be kidding!! Well, my good old box maybe not the fastest kid around - but it goes along very well with Vue, Bryce, Truespace, ZBrush, Painter, and some other apps. I think there should be some kind of shield against resource-killing software like that. Plain and simple: if it is done this way >> refund! But, it is - sadly - a fact nowadays, that the first thing you do after getting that new proggie (be it a game or a "serious" app), is start looking for patches, updates, bugfixes. Now - please transfer this situation to the moment that you bought your last car (fridge, TV, bike - whatever): you paid for your new car, you opened the door, jumped in ........ only to find that the stearing-wheel just went the left way?? NO, your newly bought "whatever" did just what it was supposed to do, fully functional in every way. For software.......... a 50% NOPE. I always felt I had to say that :)!! Precaution: I am using Poser from the time it was available on the PC, I am running it still, version 4 - Poser5 made it into my trash-can, and this ain't no kidding.
