Poser 5 will happen. I don't know the release or announcement dates either, but it'll be there and it'll rock (my opinion). There will also be a release of a Shockwave w3d exporter for Pro Pack soon, allowing you to create stuff like in the link above. This exporter is in beta testing right now.
If you don't hear or read anything from CL about P5 then it's not because we don't care about it but because we're too busy working on it. We want a Poser5 release as much as you want it.

I had the link for the OBJ im/export script for Blender, but it seems like the site is down. However, the author wrote it to create morphs for Poser, so it should work pretty well with Poser. I really like Blender, and if you work through Tutorials or a good book, the UI ain't that bad. It is a little frightening at first since it doesn't give you any hints, but since I got the basics I can work a lot faster in Blender than in C4D. Give it a shot, it's free, it's cross-platform and it has a decent list of features.

Pro Pack is definately a requirement. And the you-know-what is an exporter for the Shockwave w3d file format, there's not really a need for that much secrecy - I'm just a little cautious as long as there is no official announcement from CL on that topic.

Yes I am working at CL, but my project list is already full, so all I can offer you right now is my spare time.

I'll take a look at it, but I can't promise anything - I also have a daytime job and some other hobbies besides that.

Could one of you please give me an example file showing that problem? I'd like to understand what you're talking about, maybe there's something I can do about it (writing a script or at least showing it to Larry so we can fix it in the next update).

A properly written Carbon app will run perfecly in OS 8. uh.. 8.5 I think through OS X, so that is at the moment the prefered solution of many software vendors. As Apple now is shipping every new Mac with OS X as defaul system, the days of OS 9 are somewhat counted, so if you start a new software project now you should definately keep OS X mind. BTW, Poser runs nice but not perfect in Classic/OS X here.

Impudicus Rex: Your problem sounds like a memory issue. In theory no program, how buggy it may be, should be able to reboot XP except through the proper API calls. Since increasing shadow map size increases memory usage of Poser, you might want to check if your RAM is OK or if there's a problem with your systems VM settings.
Thread: Calling external DLL | Forum: Poser Python Scripting
You'll probably have to write a Python wrapper for it. You'll find documentation that here http://www.python.org/doc/1.5.2p2/ext/ext.html In general, Poser includes a complete Python runtime that can use extensions like any other 1.5.2 Python environment. If it's a rather popular .dll, ask in the Python mailing lists or comp.lang.python for it, maybe someone already wrote a Python module for it.
