Thread: Another HairStyle underway..... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Anton, terrific! My only tiny, tiny criticism is that the hair cuts off too suddenly at the bottom, though I realise you're having to trade off accuracy against polygon count. As well as transparency tutorials is there any chance of a more general hair modelling tutorial for us mortals. I can make solid props like lamp posts and the like but I really struggle with 'soft' shapes like hair and bodies. For all the British members, is it my imagination or does she look like Joanna Lumley?

I just had a look at your site (which incidentally I found a little difficult to navigate because of the size of the home page) and the Body Studio 16 looks pretty good. If it's all yours then I say fight the bastards! If it's not, then you should be hanged. OK, let's assume you're on the side of sweetness and light. What you need to do is locate any files you saved on the way to making the finished article. You should then mail a couple of them to Micogames (keep a few up your sleeve) and copy them to somebody you can trust (your solicitor, your bank manager, Renderosity, the web?) showing that you went through various stages to get to the finished product. Challenge Micogames to show that your texture is exactly the same as theirs, and I mean exactly. If they are professionals then they should have built a watermark of some sort into the texture to prevent them being ripped off. If your image contains the same watermark then you are done for. If it doesn't then I guess you are home and dry. You can take on the big guys and win. I just beat British Telecom and they are about a billion times bigger than me. Then sue the bastards, or at the very least make them give you an abject apology on their website. Good luck, Maz

I did a dog collar about a year back which I could probably modify for you. Do you have an image of the effect you're after? If so, e-mail me at maz@sandylodge.demon.co.uk and I'll see what I can do.

SewerRat, Are you looking for 2D speech bubbles to use in paintshop etc., or do you want 3d speech bubbles to use directly in Poser?

You can do the job with 3DStudio and 3DStudio MAX, but you need to convert the files to .obj format first. I assume you can do it with Truespace, though I've never used it so can't be sure. The best thing to do is download all the tutorials from bushi's site, http://www.spiritone.com/~bushi and when you've read them and experimented a bit ask on the forum again if you get stuck. Bushi used RDS5 but the principle's the same. One day I plan to do some tutorials using MAX, in fact I started them, but other things intervened. One day..... After you've read bushi's tutorials you should download my poseable pearl necklace from the Free stuff page and then examine the .obj and .phi files in a text editor you'll get the idea. Good luck, Maz
Thread: Many "How to ... ?" | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If you mean to make a poseable figure then you need to have a .phi file to go along with the .obj file. The poseable necklace that I've just posted on Fun Stuff has a readme file that gives a bit of info on this. For a more detailed explanation look at the tutorials on bushi's site. From memory his URL is http://www.spiritone.com/~bushi If that's not the correct URL there's a link from my site at http://www.sandylodge.demon.co.uk Maz

I may be wrong, but you could well be asking the impossible. Where did this file (these files?) come from. What are they of, what do you want to be able to do with them. if you want to e-mail me one I'll have a look at it, but don't get your hopes up too much. maz@sandylodge.demon.co.uk

Anthony, I'm pleased to hear that your C++ program worked. I considered doing something similar but I first tried creating an obj file by hand using a text editor (having done a lot of trigonometry to work out the coordinates) and found after a few hours that it didn't work. Inspired by your success I'll have another go. Jeff, do you think he meant that the Cadillac came from Guinea, or maybe New Guinea?

My only criticism is that the edge of the water is too level - there should be waves where the water meets the tub.

The face is excellent, and most of the body, but I have trouble believing that anybody could have dimples(for want of a better word)like that in his thighs.

I just want to know why she's got a giant banana tucked under her left arm. :-) Great work Phil.
