First: Simply with an ASCII editor like, Notepad, or so. But watch out! The art of editing a cr2 or any other poser related file may cause "unpredictable results" :-) Second: with a utility named CR2EDIT, which is out there, on http://www.zenwareonline.com/ for just $50. It is in its version 5 now. I can't tell you more about it, because I don't have it :( Willy

Darn. I forgot to mention that you'll have to: - select "HeadSkin" from "materials" - load the "head"-texture - assign this texture to the head parts (lips, eyes, etc.) in turn before you should leave with the OK-button. Of course, you can enter the "material"-section as often, as you like. Change the base colors of the parts and have fun. You'll get the best results when making the basic colors of each body part white at first. The whole process is a chore when done this way. So there are so called MAT-files out there (probably with the textures you have bought) to change the "skin" with one double click in the pose library. But that's a different story :-) Willy

Hi Tofu. Top 3 (re-skinning): The correct term would be "texturing" ;-) I have a German version of P4, so I don't know the exact names of the menu topics. Try to figure it out: Note: Vicky has two separate texture maps, one for the head and one for the body. You have to apply them to each respective part. Start with the "body", because there are only few elements to supply with a texture. - Load Vicky into the pose room - Select the "body" of your Vicky - Open the "render -> surface material (or so)" menu. Or use "CTRL+U" - Uncheck the box reading "... apply to figure" (or so it reads). - From the "Material" drop down menu select "SkinBody" (or any other part which belongs to the body like, "Toenails" or "Fingernails" but not to parts belonging to the head like, "lips". - Use "Load" under "texture map" to locate and load your new "skin". Maybe you have to select it with the drop down menu. - Proceed until you're done with all the body materials, of which Vicky has quite a lot. - Finally: Press OK I hope this helps a little. Willy
Thread: Flash on DAZ | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Awww :) Luddite - what did I do? What about netizens who are optically challenged, or even blind? I know, they would probably NOT visit a site like DAZ3D (what should they do with visual art?) but the flash technology is spreading more and more across the internet. This is excluding lots of ppl from net content they could otherwise use very well. Mostly when flash is used for navigation. The issue is called "accessability". In our understandable joy of creating and providing visual content, stills or animations, we should sometimes consider this. (maybe using the "alt"-tag more often; like ... alt="Vicky nekkid in a temple" [I like that] :-) Willy

...just a thought: When ready posing, why not choose "object -> lock actor" after selecting "body" from the panel just below the posing window? It would protect the actor (in this case, the whole body) from being re-posed. Willy

Wow! Are all the young wookies grey? Or, maybe, it's a different race than Chewbacca's. Willy
Thread: Flash on DAZ | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hiya! When starting with www.daz3d.com you can get by the flash following the small print under the loading intro: --------------------------------------------------------- This site uses the Macromedia Flash 6 (MX) Player to display content. If you prefer not to use the Flash plugin, click here to proceed directly to the store (html). Copyright 2000 DAZ Productions, Inc. All Rights Reserved. ---------------------------------------------------------- The link on the word "here" leads you to some HTML-pages. That's it. I never saw the flash-intro until now - and I'm not intending to see it, 'cause I won't dl the crap someone believes to need to display his/her fancy pages. Thank goodness, DAZ is navigable still with some of the links mentioned above. I hope they don't convert their other pages with that c**p. Regards, Willy

Thread: Hair on Fire! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi Valander, I didn't know about your suggestion. I simply tried to think "out of the box" (hair -> gras -> a faqir's nail-board, ... and flames). It would even be a great add-on for a certain land-dragon, I suppose :) Willy
Thread: Hair on Fire! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Oh, BTW, I forgot: the base for the flames is a cylinder primitive straight out of the props. I selected only the top for the hair group. Willy

Well, I used the wind engine to blow the flames to the side a little. It looks acceptable as long as you don't get carried away :-) I'm not that deep into P5 yet to do animations (other than a test with the walk designer). The settings for the fiery hair are: Hair lenght .5 variance .3 No. of Hairs 30 tip width 1 root width 30 (! That's the trick) clumpiness 0.5 kink strength 10 kink scale 100 kink delay 0.3 verts 30 Materials - I know you know ;-) red and yellow transparency 0.95 edge 0.8 falloff 0.6 (yep, that darn value:) alternate diffuse: color node with red and yellow add a little noise into the color settings and voil a small but fast rendering fire!
