Ah - thanks Acadia - have downloaded some now, I see that they are able to be used as dynamic.
...and thanks mysticeagle and icandy265 also... I have duly wishlisted Gisele and a few of esha's items too, for consideration :-)
Just spotted that Neftis3d also has this hair and wig to go with their gown...

...but will have to wait to see if these go on sale methinks...
Thread: Suggestions for (circa) 18th century clothing / hair for V4 and M4 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Many thanks Acadia :-)
Looks like all older V2/V3 stuff over at that site?
But certainly could be a number of useful outfits there, if I managed to convert them to dynamic cloth perhaps...
Ideally (I should have mentioned in my initial post) I'm looking for conforming clothing (or hybrid perhaps) that I can try running through the Poser Place outfitter script, to use with a weight mapped V4... and indeed M4 once he arrives on the scene.

Thanks... rendered again. Much quicker to render this time I think... and it is indeed entirely identical without any of those 3(!) IBL lights.
;-)

Quote - If you're using my EnvSphere and IDL is enabled, IBL does nothing at all. When IDL is enabled, IBL is like an infinite size EnvSphere. Since the actual EnvSphere you're using is not infinite, it is closer than the virtual one associated with IBL.
If you disable IDL, then IBL will change modes and illuminate everything, even things inside a box or sphere.
Ah, cool - I see now. I wondered about that... thanks for illuminating me :-)
So using that IDL setting with your BB envsphere, should I therefore get the same result with just having the spot and the point light in that scene... without those IBLs being added at all?
Am I understanding that much correctly?

Its a just freebie light set I've downloaded at some point that I used there... I'd have to check the source. So not sure why 3 IBLs are used... or checked if all 3 do actually benefit the result in some way.
I only noted there were 3 IBLs when I was posting that in fact...
I will experiment some more there... ;-)
Would a single IBL usually be enough?

Cool creepy skin ;-) This took about 10 mins to render on my fairly old mac...
Its in a white-grey envsphere with 3 IBLs a spot and a point light... indirect light quality set to 9.

My M4 was lucky enough to get his ++ upgrades in the sale last month.
I expect the straight-forward conforming solution will be more than adequate for most situations M4 finds himself in...
It's the weight mapping of his base that he really needs... so he can keep up with the newfound flexibility of V4WM and Antonia WM ;)

Excellent news :-)
My M4 is patiently awaiting his injections...
He'd just like to know if his, er, conforming package is getting weight mapped.
Or will that be a job for the Outfitter?

I can offer two constructive points that leapt out to me, in case they're of any help to you at this early stage:
First one is to echo Teyon's point about the trapezius and neck... that stood out to me as not quite right.
He has the appearance to me that he's craning his neck and tensing up his trapezius... which, assuming that's a more neutral, zero-type pose he's meant to be in at this point, I guess wouldn't be desirable.
I think it might be the length of the neck as much as the trapezius muscles that seems a bit out to me here...
...all this may be accentuated by the viewing angle... seeing him straight on might help?
Second is that the hands look a tiny bit large relative to the head to me.
I'm pretty sure either the head looks a bit too small or the hands a bit big... or both could be out by an even smaller amount each way... we're probably talking fairly small amounts proportionally.
It's entirely possible that you are working to a real life reference model who has these exact proportions though!?
My judgements will be founded on my personal, "built-in" conception of average norms and certainly aren't scientific...
Were these two of the areas you mentioned being bugged by still?
Are you aiming to create a Mr Average character that can be morphed in any and all directions or are you going for a particular look out of the box in terms of physique?
Anyway... looking forward to seeing Lucas develop - many thanks ;-)

Excellent - good stuff right there ExistentialDisorder. Muscle definition generally looks great. I particularly like the arms.
Another exciting project going on... thanks very much for sharing your work :-)

Here you go SamTherapy... just a taster of dalek here I guess... the next composition I'm planning has some more of them featuring. Love them ;-)

Hi SamTherapy
Baking something with some of your 2011 daleks in it right now as it happens... they're great. Thanks so much for making them and sharing them...
Will certainly post you a link once its done ;-)

More money for you at least ;-)
Not so long ago I wrote a PDF viewer control for .Net (just a ghostscript wrapper) because embedding the Acrobat Reader dll wasn't deemed performant enough.
However, fast forward a bit, AcroPDF got an update and suddenly was found to be much faster... we switched the app back to using that.
It was interesting working on the ghostscript viewer though nonetheless... and that provided some other useful code for PDF manipulation.
I guess the moral is, if there's a good framework available, that someone else is investing in maintaining, its generally a good idea to use it! But interesting things can come from rolling your own code too...
Anyway there's far too much good stuff in Poser 2012 already for me to play with using... to even begin thinking much about learning to code plugins for it! Far too much interesting information on these forums to catch up with too... think I'll be a good while just doing that.
All this procedural shader stuff is just fantastic... I love the idea that it seems to be possible now to create realistic looking human skin textures (and indeed any less uniformly patterned textures) without using photographic / painted images.
Where's the best place on these forums to catch up with that sort of thing?
:-)
Thread: Poser 9 / Pro 2012 question about features | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks Bagginsbill - that all makes perfect sense... of course... from the cross platform / cross application perspective... and it's a nice GUI toolkit in Flash / AIR to work with, and present, as well of course.
Hypothetically, if I were writing my own community plugin for just Poser alone... and wanted a slick looking GUI, e.g. with a more advanced visual interface than I could get with just standard textbox, checkbox, browse (etc) controls, e.g. maybe a graphical representation of a human figure, built into a control, that was perhaps moveable in some way, would you say this would be a strategy worth considering, looking at Flash / AIR... or would I be better just going down the wxPython route?
At present I have no plans (or time) to do such a thing! I'm just thinking out loud here... but this is all great brain fodder :-)
Sorry... this is totally off the topic of this thread now...
