Thread: Someone important to the white house | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
...as I also tried to make that expression, I broke out laughing ,imagining the entire Poser Community, one by one, with a shifty-eyed scowl, scrunching up their faces at their monitors. Nice work on the lip .bum (hoping you're not a Brit) and hair trans maps.

Sorry, not my area of expertise. You might try posting again to either the Poser Technical Forum or The 3DS Forum. (Links at right --> ) Perhaps you may find better hard-core technical help there for file format conversions.
Thread: Poser Materials | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Sometimes, as models are modified by different people, extra materials get left in the figure which no longer apply to any parts. They do nothing. This sounds like what you have encountered. If you change it and nothing happens, ignore it.

With regard to building models from photos, see my reply in the thread "Creating Faces from 2D Pictures" below. Found some freeware that sounds like it may do this but I've not tried it yet. I'm hoping someone will give it a try and report back to us if it's useful.

And for changing the whole figure at once, there is a check-box in the Surface Materials window which is labeled "Texture changes apply to entire figure". Be sure to remember to go back and uncheck it after you use it.

My whimpy-puter at home (P2-133MHz, 32Mb RAM, 1Mb vid card, 10Gb HD) runs P4 slowly, (renders about 30 times slower than my 450MHz system with a real graphics card at work) but, it will run. Aside from the speed problems, I regularly hit "C-Exception" problems with .PZ3 files over about 20Mb.

Although texture mapping surely helps, it seems the geometry of the model is vastly more important in achieving a recognizable likeness. Get the shape of the model right and it will still look like the person even without a Tmap. I downloaded this freeware program last month but have not tried it yet. Sounds like a baby Canoma but it may do what you are looking for. If you (or anyone else) try it, please let us all know if it works well. PROGRAM: "pmlt31a.exe" (4.5Mb download) FOUND HERE: http://www.eossystems.com/Lite/ DESCRIPTION: Eos Systems introduces "PhotoModeler Lite"! PhotoModeler Lite is a fully functional, high-quality Windows freeware program for creating 3D models of real-world objects and scenes through the use of photographs. -Nance
Thread: 3D meshes for SU27 Flanker? =) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Sorry, was going to suggest 3D Cafe but was astounded to discover that they did not have much in the way of soviet aircraft. Lots of US fighters though. Think you could cheat an F-15?

Thread: Sitting Poses ? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Try some of the poses at "Kalopsia" titled "Recline of Western Civilization". Nobody on a horse but a lot of sitting poses. You could start from these and do some adjustments. www.geocities.com/SoHo/6033/kalcom/tpf.html btw: Who's site is Kalopsia anyway? Lots of great stuff there that does not show up here or on PFO.

Thread: UVMapper 0.23d Windows | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Sure, Poser is a nifty program but sometimes I tend to overlook how much of it's potential is dependent on the wonderful after-market tools available. Without UVMapper and some of the other apps produced by clever folks like you, I'm sure I would have grown weary of Poser's inherent limitations a long time ago. Thanks for keeping it fresh.
Thread: UV Mapper for poser props | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Sorry, the thing about the .RSR file conflict was in reference to the .OBJ files in your Geometries folders for poseable figures opend with .CR2 files, not props or .PP2 files.
Thread: UV Mapper for poser props | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
You mentioned that you are saving the models. If you are not giving them new file names, be sure that you are moving or deleting any prior .RSR file, in the same directory, with the same filename, as the new .OBJ file you are creating. Poser first looks for this faster loading binary .RSR file whenever the .OBJ file is requested. If it does not find the .RSR, only then will it look for an load the actual .OBJ file (at which time it will automatically create a new .RSR). The point is if you have an .RSR by the same name as your new .OBJ, Poser will use the old .RSR and not your new .OBJ. ... and Bloodsong, thanks for the "switch cameras" trick for reloading maps with the same name. -Nance
