"Foxseelady you should download the avi and then play it. That way lets you see it all at one time with no jumps. " Could someone tell me how? Clicking on links of this sort automatically opens Win Media Player. Thanks :)

I've heard/read of AVIedit (shareware) VirtualDub (Free) and ABC VideoRoll (Free -also can add sound files) which do the job fine. GIF Animator 5 can import-export still-images or animations at what was/is a reasonable $29.95 retail. Sorry I don't have URL's handy but search on the names should take you to the sites. Cheers, Masha

'Come on it must get someone going.... ' Hehe Saxon :) I got going and bumped into a dead-end. ;) Trying to imagine what you mean ...'movement phonemes', sounds intriguing if mysterious. In classical ballet where you have set positions i can sort of see what you might mean, you have plies (sp) arabesques as well as the positions, but in modern dancing which is full of contortions...? Care to elaborate? :) I was one half of a balancing/adagio duo for some years and worked in LV style productions etc, but wasn't aware that choreographers write movement down (other than mapping out movements across the stage perhaps)but maybe you mean classical? Wouldn't even know where to start How far did that project go? Cheers, Masha

Saxon, The Tips and Tricks on RDNA's billy's animaniacs forum are absolutely great - thanks!!! Off to see the rest on your page. Count me in as the 15 and a 1/2th animator here, though I mainly qualify as an avid lurker as yet. Cheers Masha
Thread: How to extract PZ3 scene files into CR2 | Forum: Poser Technical
Hi Cylui,
A confession - I'm a newbie with Poser4, but collecting heaps of info and tutorials to try to come up to speed. Schlabber's tip for saving 2 figures was as yet untried by me when I passed on the tip. But I have just now given it a go.
Firstly you do the renaming of the .pz3 to .cr2 in Wind Explorer and it's there that you copy it to the Character library.
2 things happened. When I saved the original .pz3 of the 2 figures into the Character libarary it did not give me an .rsr file either (nor an .obj file for that matter) but the shrugging guy was in the library.
On opening it in Poser than pressing the + and using another name, the thumbnail of the 2 figures appeared in the library ok, and on returning to Wind Explorer this time there was an .rsr file. (The.rsr's being the shorthand version of an object file plus the thumbnail that appears in the library according to my info).
But... it now dawns on me that you are using the Pro Pack, and I am using Poser4 only, and according to what I've picked up here ProPack saves .png instead of .rsr files.
Did you get a .png with the renamed .cr2?
How it all works in Pro Pack I hope someone else can help with. But I also read that a freeware proggie called P3dOExplorer converts .png files to .rsr files, should you need it. You can find it here at Free downloads if you put it into the search window.
Hope this helps and good luck. :)

Here's Schlabber's take on this in case you want to save 2 characters at once.
'A complete-scene-character file (or adding 2 figures at once)
Quite easy. Just take a *.pz3 (this is the Poser-Data-Format), rename it to *.cr2.
Copy it to the character folder, go back to Poser.
Open the scene. Save it in Poser under a new character-name (to have the preview-image).
Open a file editing-tool (Windows Explorer) delete the 'new-saved' *.cr2 and rename the 'new-saved' *.rsr with exactly the same name then your old *.pz3 (now it is called somewhat.cr2) - finished.
Now you can quickly add this scene without openning it!
Example 1:
Name of PZ3: scenea.pz3
Rename scenea.pz3 to scenea.cr2
Copy it to runtime/libraries/character
Go to poser and open this *.cr2 - you'll notice there's an image missing
Save the scene under another name (scenea2).
Go back to the windows-explorer (alt+tab) and refresh it (F5)
Now delete scene2.cr2 and rename scene2.rsr to scenea.rsr '
OOps, it just occured to me to wonder whether I'm allowed to copy this verbatim into a forum...?
At any rate Schlabber's site: www.schlabber.org
Great poses.
Cheers,
Masha

Bloodsong, thanks for the reply :)
Sorry to have taken up your time. :(
Yep, it turns out that when I renamed the pz2 files in P3D0Explorer to .cm2 it left the .pz2 and just appended the .cm2 and obligingly did the same to the .rsr files which I didn't select, but this time pre-pended the .cm2. Hehe.
So effectively they all had the 2 extensions which didn't bother P3d0 but made P4 sulk. I wonder if Yarp would appreciate an e-mail about this apparent bug or whether this newbie would be insulting his good nature and expertise :)
Thanks for the hand,
Masha

No Scott, thanks :) The second time around it got posted to that 'Try #3 Poser3 morphs to P4 figures' thread. I posted the above after I sent you the IM when it thought you had left. Ajax was also a help. :) I must have timed out the first time I tried to post. But I had probs before so I jumped to the same conclusion. Thanks for all your help :) Masha

Yep had lotsa fun with camera angles. Colour me purple. :)
It seems that Poser4 imports/starts up figures with Main camera on an angle rather than straight on. (Or is it just My poser?
Even after readjusting the figures imported from P3, the X-Z
translations move them on an angle which makes it hard (harder) to position them with each keyframe.
I've resigned myself to doing them all over in P4. They need much improvement anyhow, and I've learnt some since then. That Main Cam angle thing really bugs me though.
Yes, Schlabber's site is great. The stuff I'm doing though is a reproduction of a balancing/statue act, which I and my late husband used to perform, so it has it's unique positions. It has to be slow and smooth so I suspect it will be huge if I don't want it to jerk. Don't know how smooth I'll get it as it needs constant keyframes with the subtle changes in balance and position. Any tips will be gratefully received. :)
Also with camera angles, say if I adjust positions in the Right cam, it's totally off when I return to the Main cam.
Aren't you supposed to do that? I suspect this isn't a problem with just one figure, but when two are interacting..wow
Here's a couple of (unrendered) keyframes to illustrate, (if it manages to post this time) The first pic is the end of one clip (hence the diff body and background, and will be the beginning of another. Have to make lots of short clips of it as in some the Inverse Kinematics is terrifically useful while in others it's impossible and you can't switch it on/off.
Thanks heaps for your time :)
