@JAG:
You expect people to give you informations instead of reading what's already in other threads. It's easier to insult someone as a newbie than getting your informations. I may be younger than you but I know how to read and buy only things where I know what's inside. I don't use other people to do the thinking for me.
But I'm really laughing when I think how you may look if you discover the real bugs of Poser 8. In that case I would even try to help. Have fun with it!
@Dgerzee and @MikeJ: Nice gesture but the README explained most of it on the first page.
@Anniebel: I believe the developers at SM think that the majority of users have enough RAM to digest the textures and processor speed. But I don't know about your processor and RAM to know if that's the real explanation. I did not see a real difference in speed for firefly draft to P4render (in Poser Pro).

It includes a crew cut hair, where textures don't show up. I don't even mention the wrong reference paths.
Just in case someone downloads it and wonders what's wrong.
Thread: P8 does not save camera position in *.pz3 file. Why? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
That makes sense, true, but I was not aware of it. I'm glad the solution is found, I was used to open via import, it's no big deal to change the habit.

Why are people missing the P4 renderer is beyond me. Maybe because I started with P7, maybe because when I buy a car that was produced this year I don't expect to have an additional motor inside that is from the 1920's just to hear the sound.
Thread: P8 does not save camera position in *.pz3 file. Why? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
@All: thanks for trying to help.
Now I have found the solution: in Poser 7 and Poser Pro it did not matter whether you open a *.pz3 scene coming from FILE>OPEN or IMPORT>OPEN, in both cases the camera position stayed the way it was saved.
However in Poser 8 you should NOT IMPORT *.pz3 because it's only working with the correct camera position via OPEN.

I was having the same problems with the mat poses applying on the pose screen but I figured out that you have to apply them in the material room and they will work.
~Jadealis
You can apply them in the pose room by dragging them and dropping them on the figure or prop you want to apply them too.
i think you are supposed to be able to apply them by double clicking, but that may be the bit that doesn't work right.
No that's mostly not working. Why are you answering "I think you are supposed", if you don't know it for sure? However they way you describe it is how it should work but it's not working.
Jadealis is right. Nevertheless a lot of users have then another problem if they want to go back from the materials to the pose room. Instead of the pose room they are led to the morph tools or the animation and then P8 crashes). This was already addressed in other threads and is known as a bug to SM who have received obviously many notes regarding this issue.

My preview window is indeed always docked.
The data for the camera position is obviously not read correctly by Poser 8.
Thread: P8 does not save camera position in *.pz3 file. Why? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
In my case P8 loads the correct camera too (I work only with the Main Camera), but the position is changed heading away from the scene. The *.pz3 saved in Poser Pro are even placed in another direction when opened in P8.
True, @bobberthijs , I don't like it either. This makes it impossible to render a scene as one wanted in a certain camera angle if one has to close the program and wants to render at another time. Which is important since P8 is not rendering faster than Poser Pro, no it's slower if you load a big scene with many characters.
@pjz99: I already know that :-) but I hoped there would be an easy solution and it was just my mistake.
Thread: Free high quality figure | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
@Laurie: Thanks for your reply.
First part of your posting I was not aware of that.
Generally I have to say I've read the sticky post regarding commercial postings a few days ago. I thought it's common sense what commercials are. Free stuff that is linked to sites where one has to register is viewed as commercial for most Internet users. There should be a difference between a forum and the market. But never mind, the original poster posted it only once, my critic was harsh in this case and maybe my view on it is not shared by the majority of the users here.
But the new trend is in a lot of threads now "free stuff" ads for commercial websites turn up. So this is a way to undergo the sticky post 'Regarding "commercial" posts" and there should be some space where on can read something without interrupted by advertisements.
For example search for user '3dream' and you know what I mean. In every second Poser thread he announces he had created a face morph for Alyson with a link to his website. I don't even know if it's free, because he does not mention it. This kind of postings somehow damage the intention of a forum where users exchange their experiences with the software, workarounds etc. That's all what I wanted to say about it.

Yes, thank you, it helps. But I'm still clueless why this happened to the hair textures.

Thread: Free high quality figure | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - The figure is free, registration is free, that's not spam in my opinion. Also, this is the "Poser" forum, not the "Poser 8 Forum."
I know it's the Poser forum. Also this is NOT the Free Stuff thread!
@Laurie: Don't bite the hand that feeds you, I understand. But I'm not only the user who dislikes the promotion crossovers. I'm glad if people give out free stuff, but going to another website, having to register to get it, is just advertising, nothing else. For some people TV is commercials that are interrupted by program, for me it's the other way around...
Thread: Poser 8 crashes when going to material room, everytime. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I also have the problem with the material room. Crashes and before it does it changes to tabs that I never opened. Windows XP Professional 64 bit. Since Vista users and Windows 7 users know the problem too I guess it has nothing to do with the OS you are running.
Did not know about the workaround, thanks for the information!

Quote - I just would like to say that I create a new face for Alyson.
I hope you like my original face/eyes morphs for Alyson as much as I do.
The morph is available at my web page
Oh, a Poser 8 hair problem we would like to know more about and then someone spams with a "free morph" just to advertise for his shop...
I have the texture problem with files that I saved in Poser 7. I checked the files and the texture maps in the files had the correct reference path. While this problem never happened with skin textures but only with clothes and hair maps I am believing it has something to do with transparency mappings. Maybe false since skin maps have transparency maps for eyelashes too but as long as nobody has these problems with skin textures the reason must to be found there.

Thread: Semi-OT - How can I get my computer to use all it's RAM? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - If your processor is a 64 bit one then you do not need to buy the 64 bit version of Vista, just get an upgrade from MS. It will only cost you the postage cost for the CD.
She would be better off is she would use Windows XP Professional 64 bit. Vista 64 is sometimes when it's doing nothing already into 1GB of RAM, she would gain nothing with it.
