Maybe Renderosity needs to add an option in personal preferences to turn off the notifications. Personally, I like getting the notifications because I don't have time to keep checking if items I want are on sale.
Thread: Temporary DAZ Platinum items | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The time-limited Platinum Club Romeo & Juliet costumes add an interesting wrinkle to the PC membership. It's an added incentive to remain a member if a lot of products don't stay in the club. Otherwise, there's not a lot of reasons to remain a PC member. There's a lot of reasons to join because there's a ton of great content at inexpensive prices, but once somebody's bought all they want, the club's new content is comparatively tiny to what's already there. For an individual not accustomed to buying new models every month, paying $8 a month starts becoming a questionable expense. Everybody's mileage (spending habits and personal budgets) differs on this matter, so there's a wide range of opinions about the value of that monthly fee. The way the club's been, a person could quit and rejoin a year later and not have missed out on anything in the club. With some items expiring, there's another reason to remain a member. It's not simply a matter of quitting and rejoining PC in four months to break even because items, that were introduced at $1.99, will be considerably more expensive in the future. That needs to be factored into any decisions on leaving the club. It puts some pressure on staying a member or becoming one.
Thread: Daz Premium Club: Am I going to be rippred off? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I had the same problem, as have others. Reply to your invoice email as that brings it to DAZ's attention that there was a problem with that order. It sounds as if DAZ was supposed to send an email to confirm continuing the membership and that doesn't seem to have happened for many people. It's a new membership system, so there's bound to be growing pains. Your credit card has probably not been chatged the $7.95 fee. I still haven't decided how long to remain a member of the club. The intro was fantastic, but the trickle of new products makes it questionable how long to remain a member for somebody on a tight budget. The time-limited PC Club Romeo & Juliet costumes add an interesting wrinkle to the membership. It's an added incentive to remain a member if a lot of products don't stay in the club. Otherwise, it's a question of whether it's worth leaving the club and rejoining when there's enough new material to warrant spending another $29.95. A person could rejoin a year later and not have missed out on anything in the club. With some items expiring, it's not that easy. Remaining a PC Club member depends on a lot of factors: 1. How much new stuff comes out: It doesn't matter whether or not the items remain in the club indefinitely or expire. Right now, joining the club is an incredible bargain because there is so much high quality low cost content in the club. Once somebody has bought all the content they need, staying is a question of what's new. Since a monthly fee is being charged, the cost of new models has to figure in that fee. There's a lot of different purchasers here. For somebody who spends $10/month or more on models, they'll stay members. For somebody who hasn't bought a lot of $10 (or higher) models on a regular basis, it's a harder choice. For the latter member, if that person only buys one new product a month, that product costs $10 ($1.99 for the model and $7.95 for the membership). 2. How much DAZ Original content comes out that is worth buying: The vouchers and the 30% PC Club discount are only good on DAZ original products. Since DAZ Originals only account for about 10% of all Premier store products (based on what's in New Releases)), this will only be an incentive if there's a much higher percentage of DAZ Original products being offered on a regular basis. With the initial sale pricing for Michael 3 and the PC voucher and discount, PC Club members got another $23 off the sale price of Michael 3 and the 2 morph packs. That's great, but how many months in a year does DAZ have an Original must get product? 3. Products that don't remain in the club: If not remaining a member means permanently losing out on a good price for some products, it's an incentive to stay. This is still an issue with factor 1. Unless there is a lot of new content every month, it almost doesn't matter whether items expire or not, unless there's a lot of expiring content that somebody really has to have. Like I said, I'm still giving the club a few more months before I decide whether to drop out. It's too soon to make any final determination.
Thread: Can't Get PC Club Juliet Face to Load | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Sigh...I'm spending way too much time on the computer. Juliet was in the PC Michael 3 section, so I started assuming it was an female M3 variant, just as there's a Male V3. I'm still surprised that it didn't work since the models share a common mesh and many of the morphs have the same names (though I haven't had time to do a 1-for-1 check). There is one problem with injecting expressions. It only works when all the appropriate morphs have also been injected with poses. This means the expression won't work with a character that doesn't have the full suite of morphs applied.
Thread: Platinum Club Playing Silly Games Again.... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Just send DAZ an email. I had the same problem and they fixed it. Consider it growing pains since going to a monthly system is new. Apparently, you're supposed to receive an email that asks you to approve the next $7.95 installment. I never got mine. I'm surprised it's not like a recurring monthly billing setup where you keep paying till you ask to stop being a member.
Thread: Anybody else having trouble with PC monthly membership? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Still cannot make any purchases, after logging in, but since others have the same trouble, it should eventually get fixed. I'll wait another week and then call if I'm still having the problem. With the monthly membership, it doesn't show when the PC Club expires, but it does at least show that I've already got the voucher. I wasn't sure whether it immediately shows up on the first of the month or later and the Michael sale ended the day after Labor Day, so I missed that one. It would still be nice to see the voucher applied on the final purchase screen instead of learning about it, in the email confirmation, after the purchase is processed, particularly since the voucher has a number of rules associated with it and cannot be used for everything.

I have seen PhilC's BDU, but it doesn't look right. It's kind of hard to describe, but it seems somewhat stiff and doesn't have the folds/wrinkles or bulk that I see in news photos. I'm also looking for things I haven't found: backpacks, detailed flak jackets, night vision goggles, etc. I've found it interesting that Poser primarily gets used in a fantasy/scifi environment rather than more contemporary news areas.
Thread: DAZ Platinum Club as a price option | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I guess the reason I made my post is because I wanted to explain why I may drop out of the Platinum Club. As expected, there's responses with different levels of model buying experiences. There are the people that have been buying models all along and the club is an amazing bargain for them. Then there are people on the other side of the spectrum, like me, that haven't purchased many models, that jumped on the last sale because it was too good to pass up. I feel guilty about thinking about dropping the club because I have bought a lot of great stuff from it. I've installed everything I bought, but haven't had a chance to load everything up in Poser to play with them. I probably bought 70-80% of the PC items that were priced at 99 cents and wound up picking up a few items at $1.99, and over a half dozen of the Premier items on sale. I'll be getting more of the $1.99 items, including some more of Laurie's incredible textures. I limited the amount of nonsale items initially because of the volume of time it took to download close to a gigabyte's worth of items via phone hookup. There was no rush to get stuff that wasn't on sale because I was buying stuff up the 13th. I don't know yet how long I'll stay a member. The sale was too good to pass up and I spent more in a couple weeks than the average DAZ customer does in a year (based on their $250 average listed in the ad) when I hadn't spent a fifth of that in the previous two years totalled. DAZ's promotion liberated a lot of my money and I'm thrilled with what I got. It's largely the sale that got me to join when I did. Otherwise, I probably would have continued procrastinating about joining the PC because there wasn't anything in it that I immediately needed to get my hands on. However, once I joined, I went in to a feeding frenzy and gobbled up as much of the content as I could. After all the initial purchases, there's not a huge volume of models and textures that I still want to buy from the club. After I pick up the remaining items that I held off immediately purchasing, staying as a member is a question of whether what's new every month justifies the monthly membership expense. Since I wasn't spending $10/month on models before joining the PC, I'm not sure whether I'll want to be spending that much in the future. I'll guiltily admit that I joined mostly for the sale. I'm not trying to crack the whip on PC content providers to serve their wares at my feet. This is strictly a question of what I can afford--and I went overboard on the sale. Whether or not the Platinum Club is right for me, and my financial situation, is hard to say in the long run. Did DAZ giving away too much up front?--I don't know. I haven't taken a lot of time to figure out what exactly drove me to join. It was a mix of the sale, the dropping of the club price ($100 up front was a bit too high), the desire to get some of the PC products, and the freebies. It was the combo that got me to join and I suppose that the lower club entry, combined with the sale, were the main reasons to join. There was some nice stuff in the freebie pack, but, with anything like that, there's always items that aren't immediately needed. In any kind of club arrangement, staying a member is a question of how much new is offered per month to make it worth remaining a member. Having a large starting set of items in a club is an enticement for somebody to join, but not necessarily for somebody to stay. I don't what kind of mix is necessary to make the club profitable. I understand that the club fee defrays some of the costs for offering models and textures as cheaply as they are. Whether the club remains an attractive enough offering for me to stay is hard to say. Maybe the club isn't meant for me because I haven't purchased many models before now. If I were professionally using Poser, it would be a different story, but I've got to spend a lot of time explaining why I just spent hundreds of dollars for what is only a hobby. I sure won't be spending that much for the rest of the year. Everybody's mileage is different than my own, so I can only say that these are my thoughts. What I'm stating isn't a complaint, just an explanation so that DAZ can understand why a person might not remain a PC member. While I don't have the time or energy to explain to every business why I stop buying from them, DAZ has been nice enough to offer quality free models every week. I thought I owed them the time to explain how I felt about the club.
Thread: DAZ and that freakin' Platinum Club | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The 30% off of DAZ original stuff is nice, but it seems like the premier store is maybe only 10-20% originals (or may seem that way based on what I was looking for) and the bulk of the stuff I wanted was brokered. Ditto with the $5 voucher that's only good on DAZ originals. A gallery is nice, but not a big deal because there's loads of galleries to display photos, including here. First looks at new products are no big deal. "Sneak peaks" here, by merchants, hasn't been welcomed. The members only forum will only be as good as the people who participate and there's a lot of that here. I've only been a member for a few weeks and the starting offers were great between the 45 items kicked in and the sale on everything. I'm not sure how long I'll remain a member if there isn't much in the way of new itesm. I'm curious whether the low PC price might not be more profitable on items than a listing in the premier store. If, as DAZ said in the offer, there are thousands of Platinum Club members, any new item could generate a signficant amount of revenues because of the low cost. A person really has to want an item to pay $30 and more. At $2, they're much more attractive. I know I'm at least willing to stock up more on low cost items I want and hold off getting the higher cost ones till I have a more definite need for them.

If you look at the specs for all the tablets, there's no difference in the resolution being provided. A bigger tablet does not provide any additional resolution. It only accommodates somebody that "draws bigger" and needs more space to move the stylus naturally. I've got 9"x6" and it's fine and happens to fit your budget.
Thread: ADMIN: a first step at stopping image theft/copyright violation | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Looking at the original thread, most of the posters are against the change. I don't see much value in it either. There are a number of ways around the change that won't stop pirates. The more effective means of stopping copyright theft are notifying the ISP and rebiller (if on a paysite) of the theft. For somebody who wants to claim the image as their own, it won't take long for anyone else to verify that this individual never created that image and lacks the requisite skills to do anything good on their own.
Thread: Poser 5 Question | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Clicking the "+" does nothing more than allow referencing another directory where Poser content can be found. There is nothing unique about the file structure and nothing is changed in the Poser 4 Runtime directory. This basically lets Poser 5 look into and use the content in Poser 4 as if it was installed for Poser 5. Page 124 isn't the best spot in the world to put this tip in the manual (and it's on 126 in mine) and it actually comes kind of late to learn it because I mostly reinstalled everything and have duplicate stuff in 4 and 5. Hopefully somebody at CL will consider putting this kind of info in the installation section, if the manual is upgraded or a new release goes out, because there aren't many people who will closely enough scrutinize a whole manual before using the program. I'll flip through new features and stuff when I upgrade a program and thumb through a manual to see if anything interesting catches my eye. When there's time, I'll read a manual cover to cover, but not when I first open the package. Even if a person read the manual thoroughly, it's not likely that person would have realized what that section meant. It doesn't quite come out and say that this is a way to read Poser 4 content. The manual talks about this feature as a means to store content in different drives and directories. Unless somebody has an immediate need to put things in different directories or drives, it's one of those features that's easy to forget about. It's obvious to me after reading the tip, but it would have saved me a lot of time had the manual mentioned this goodie up front.
