The original posting occurs to me as SPAM.
It's the wrong forum, since there already is a forum for "Free stuff" - the first one under "Topics" on the first page for forums.
But since the so called free stuff needs registration it's nothing more than SPAM. And the link is just a link to the shop, not to the free stuff of the shop.
Reading the headline of the OP you think nice, someone gives you a free figure for Poser 8. It's only SPAM. I want to read here about Poser 8!
Thread: V4 Clothing for V3 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
There is no reason why clothes for V4 require Poser Pro.
But indeed there were MAT pose files for PP - for clothes and skin, but that was meant for Pro Pack, which some people call falsely Poser Pro.
Tthe Pro Pack (released in 2000) was an add on for Poser 4.
Before that *.bum files existed that are today *.jpg files, those who work as bump maps.
So it means if you use a very old Poser version that requires *.bum files (before Pro Pack) you cannot use today's clothes for V4.

That's great, thanks!

Quote - Poser 7 and Poser Pro are compiled large address aware, so this tool won't change anything (at best). If they weren't, the Poser process couldn't even use 3GB, it would hit the 2GB barrier.
Oh, I forgot about that! Then I hope someone else finds a solution to justdusty's problem or Windows 7 64bit doesn't have this problem with Poser when Win7 is finally sold.
@justdusty:
Have you problems with other 32bit software to run in Windows 7 64bit using more than 3 GB RAM? Was this problem addressed in other forums?

Quote - Â I assume you mean more then 3 gigs of memory. This is already possible with Poser Pro and Vista 64. Without an 64-bit OS there won't be more than 3 gigs of memory.Â
I don't know if someone already answered that but it is also possible with Poser Pro and XP Prof 64 which I like much more than Vista because Vista needs much more RAM than XPÂ Prof 64 that your app could use better otherwise.

Quote - I am running PP and Windows 7 64 bit and it still only uses 3 gigs when rendering and IÂ have 12 gigs and an I7 true quadcore, so if you have a secret please give it up!
I had this problem with Bryce6 on Windows XP Pro 64 but it worked after I used 'Large Adress Aware' (LaaTiDo.exe -> http://www.musikbanken.se/TechLaaTiDo.aspx). Maybe this little and free program helps in Vista or Windows 7 too (it was released for Windows XP 32bit to trick the 3GB limit, but it works also with XP Prof 64!) ?

If your computer has a 64-Bit Operating System, Poser Pro will use its 64-Bit FireFly Render Engine to access as much memory as possible. To utilize the 64-Bit FireFly Render Engine, you must select Render in Background.
I have 6 GB RAM and PoserPro.exe , which uses only a small percentage of CPU (Core2Duo E 4600, 2400 Mhz) before rendering, closes when the Task Manager shows it's already over 5,5 GB, the FF64Render.exe engine uses then 100 % of the CPU until it's finished. You nevertheless can open Poser Pro again and see in the Render window how far your render is finished and close PoserPro.exe in the Task Manager while the FF64Render64.exe continues to work.

Quote - I think that's right, Deecey. I don't have 64-bit OS so I've never been able to try it with Pro.
No, it's not right. :-) But my thanks for your tutorials, I learned a lot that way.
You mentioned something about User Interface in other languages as Japanese, French and German. Do you know whether Poser 8 will be published in other languages as Poser 7 was?

Quote - I don't mean to be blunt, but who says I don't use Poser figures? Its best to ask than assume, and yes I have many scenes with Poser figures in, a couple published others not, and while I have had a slow down I have not had OOM errors before and had no real problems importing a few figures with 3GB's of ram.
I wrote about Generation 4 characters as M4 and V4. Just load an old M2 and then a new M4 model into Vue and see the difference in amount of polygons yourself. So of course you need more RAM when you're using them often and many of them.

My previous comments were for clarification that even though offrench had OOMÂ errors with 4GB with Vista(even though only just over 3GB is addressable) IÂ infact have not had those errors so don't be put off in getting less ram if its not in your budget :)Â
IÂ recommend to work on 64bit, XPÂ Pro it uses less RAM than Vista and works well with Vue and other 3D software because there is no Vista choking away the RAM for unused background programs.
Thread: new pc for vue | Forum: Vue
Quote - IÂ work with massive scenes
But not with Poser figures. Four M4 or V4 characters with clothes and hair need around 6 GB RAM in Vue if set in a scene with terrain, trees and plants. So I would recommend 8 GB too.

But, do you know of any program or utility that would globally change something like ::Runtime:Geometries:*:
to :
C:Program Filese frontierPoser 7RuntimeGeometries*
I would not to recommend to change it that way, but rather the other way around:
to :Runtime:Geometries:
because you already point to your Poser runtime in the Carrara browser. And what would you do if you don't work with Poser 7 anymore? Change everything to Poser 9 or whatever it is then in a few years when Poser 7 is just outdated? The Runtime will still exist.
By the way if you work with DAZÂ Studio it has no problems to find files that start with :Runtime:Geometries: neither have Vue or Max a problem with that because they all use a path that is locating to your Poser runtime.
The problem with difficult *.cr files is not on the side of your Poser application in most cases it's the software by vendors that doesn't point to Poser 7 or Poser Pro or :Runtime:Geometries but to such fantasy paths as D:Mydocuments:Vendorname:Poserstuff etc This is why Poser also often has a problem with it and likes to choke while searching for it. But on a vendor forum like this one it may be not the answer one wants to hear. :-)

Yes, that looks urban! Thanks for the link, I was also looking something like that.

Maybe hundred years ago. But where do you find exactly the street of that village with those un-urban buildings anywhere in Paris?
