Also forgot to mention that in Win98 you have to hold the shift key when you right click in order to get the Open With option. I guess I was a little tired last night! Rich

Forgot to mention, this trick is a good quick-fix when the new software you just installed snags you file associations. ;) Rich

Another way is to select your file, ( a jpg, for instance) Then right click and choose 'Open With', make sure the checkbox at the bottom that says something to the effect of 'Always use this program' is checked, and choose Photoshop. The only problem I think you might run into is that some older programs store file associations in the Win.ini file and these are read into the registry at startup, so your file associations could revert back on rebooting. If this happens, you'll have to edit the Win.ini file. Rich

You might find this tutorial of some use. I haven't tried it though. RichThread: Bluring Problem | Forum: Photoshop
Try rendering at the larger size you need for postwork, then resample it down to the size you want the final to be. Thats what I do anyway. Hope this helps. Rich

I agree with nikitacreed, Mid Winter is my favorite. Although after this past winter, I don't know why! lol Rich
Thread: The Road Ahead-WIP | Forum: Vue
Well, those aren't horse nuggets. It's the ground plane showing through the road terrain (if I did put them in, would the scene stink?) Most of the lights are highlighting the grass on the road. Is there a way to export a .mat file to a format suitable for 2D editing? I was just thinking that if I could have adjusted the colors that way, I wouldn't have needed all those lights. Thanks, Rich
Thread: WIP - What do you all think? | Forum: Vue
I bet if you started with the Clivia or Tropic plant species, copied and pasted on top of itself, scale and rotate one, then scaled the whole mess way up, it would look pretty good. Maybe even a mix of both of them! Just a thought. Rich

Thanks again everyone. I'll keep plugging away at it. BTW- Is it legal/ethical to use this for an official challenge entry since I've gotten so much help on it? And where are the challenge entrys supposed to be uploaded to? Thanks, Rich

I'm not very experienced with Photoshop, but maybe try Image/Resize and just change the DPI; leaveing the physical size the same? Just a thought. Rich

I checked with Eovia, and the price to upgrade from Amapi 4.15 to 6 was at a 20% discount which works out to about $320. Amapi 4.15 as well as Eye Candy 3 are available at In Depth Arts right now! If you missed them, nows your'e chance! Rich
Thread: Question for the Vue experts | Forum: Vue
Question 1: I haven't tried it but my guess would be no. A ground plane is just that. a 2D plane with no real thickness so there wouldn't be anything to boolean with. Question 2&3: Maybee you could custom make a greyscale bitmap in a 2D program and make the river portion of it narrow considerably from one side to the other. Doing this you could possibly force the perspective to make it appear as though it fades off into the horizon. I haven't tried anything like this (other than custom bitmaps for terrain) so I have no idea if it will work. Best of luck though and let me know how you make out. Rich
