Thread: Mesh design theory? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm building clothing meshes for use in the cloth room. My prelimenary designs have shown that there is a relationship between how the mesh is designed and how well it performs under certain stretching and deformation sequences. As an example, lets say you have a piece of clothing with a strap that runs over the shoulder, you want the clothing item to fit well and conform to the body without the stap becoming distorted in the process. I have seen in my experiments that by interrupting lines with tesselated polygons so as to isolate the strap area from continuos lines runing across the chest you can dramatically reduce distortion. Note*Conforming clothing is not the solution I'm seeking.
As a corrolary to this idea automobile safety designs use engineered crumple zones to dissapate energy and reduce deformation in one area be increasing it in another.

Thread: Where Am I Going Wrong? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
You are doing several things wrong.
Color maps should plug into your very first node "diffuse color" set the strength to 1 and and the color box that is now black change to white.
Your color map should not plug into bump, bump should plug into a greyscale version of your face map.
If you want to use a specular value for your model blinn would be the appropriate choice set to a fairly low level and the little color box should be white or a shade of grey but not black.

You may be saving your images as 16 bit photoshop files which I dont think Poser can use.
Try saving them as jpg's make sure You convert or save as 8 bit images.
I cant imagine what else the problem could be. If thats not the solution continue to post and I will try to help.

There is an entire science and methodology behind mapping 3d characters. It's not something one can give a simple "how to" answer to. I would suggest reading as much as you can on the subject, books, internet, tutorials here and on the web etc. Buy a product here at Renderosity or use one of the characters that comes with poser. dig into it, find out where the maps are, study how their made. It's not something you will learn over night.
In short a uv map is the 3d mesh flattened into a 2d plane. It is on this uv flat plane that you paint, color, etc. The 3d vertices have xyz coordinates in 3d space, a uv map converts these to points into uv coordinates in 2d space. They must corrispond exactly. There is free software available on the web such as UV mapper and lithunwrap that will unwrap (create the uv map) for 3d objects. The 3d objects are contained or exist in an .obj file.
Look at an object in Poser or other 3d program with wireframe turned on, then compare this with the corrisponding uv map, you will see how the mesh is flattened and will help visualize what is going on.
To find maps and obj files for Poser objects look in C:program filesefrontierPoserruntime and then maps are in a texture folder, and obj files are in geometry folders.

If you have too many undo's set in preferences that will slow you down after working for a while.
I have never had problems with CS2

Thread: Are Rem files and Hide channel files really needed? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thank you all for your responses.
As a result of your feedback I have included a Rem pose that removes the injected morphs and hides the community content channel on only the effected actors.
"Why are you unhiding channels in the first place? " I'm injecting morph target deltas, the tutorial I'm following says you need to. I tried it first without unhiding them because I figured it wasnt needed also, but several actors such as  chest, abdomen and hip woudn't take the injections without unhiding. After I included the unhide script all my morphs worked perfectly.

I dont understand the connection between open channels Say PBMCC_01 and the hierarchy editor.
What do they have to do with each other?

Thanks
I'm not using a full body morph, but a seperate morph target for each body part, (each with a different name) is the answer still the same?
