I know exactly how you feel, Phrank. I went through a lot
of the same feelings when my parents died (they didn't both
die at once or anything). You learn to live with the loss,
and I hope these images and whatever else you keep brings
you fond memories.

Beautiful. This must be what they call a "high key" photo.
What kind of crystal is that? Garnet? Agate? A powdered
grape drink nodual?

Love the shades of grey of the rust on the spring. A little more DOF would've been nice, IMO.

It's true that the conversion lenses are
smaller in diameter than the Lensmate adapter, but that's
the largest size that the conversion lenses come in. Brief
tests here show that only the telephoto converter has any
vignetting.

That's a good question, mysnapz. It's hard to tell whether
a person just wants to share an image or whether they want
in-depth critique (like as if I would be able to provide
such a critique if asked!). You walk a thin line, though,
when offering critiques, because you risk pushing your
own creative ideas on someone else's project. Since I'm
the type that believes that everyone's creative personality
is unique (or should be), I'm very hesitant to jump in
with suggestions for changes, etc.
It becomes much easier when someone has more or less
specific questions about how to achieve an effect (and
I have an answer for that question).
Usually though, I just stay silent unless I really like
something, which might make me look like a back patter.

Your demand is my request, oh quilled one. They were $45
for the set (with attractive vinyl carrying pouch), which
in at least one Amazonian Cannibal Tribe's currency is an
arm and a leg.

Dudage. I hope you're not trying to become some sort of
mutant cyborg-warrior for the government. Once you go
down that road, there's no turning back.
Wish I could send you some tracks from an album by Matmos
called "A Chance to Cut is a Chance to Cure". It'd be very
appropriate where you're at because it was made entirely
from audio samples taken from various medical facilities.

I'd say it looks pretty good as is. Since the bust and
flowers are your focal point, you might want to experiment
with burning the rest of the scene a little, but I don't
think it's needed.
Who is the bust of?

Thread: Is METADATA useful?!?!?!?! | Forum: Photography
I had at first thought that this info (which my camera gives
when making JPEG's) would be more useful than it turns out
to be. Since I never use exposure compensation, etc., the
only info about a particular shot is aperture and shutter
speed, and I can pretty much guess at those values when
looking at the image; "Narrow DOF, so the lens was fairly
wide open. Crisp moving objects, so the shutter speed was
fast.", etc. When I was learning about the effect of
aperture on depth of field, and how aperture and shutter
speed interact with each other, that info was more helpful.
I guess it'd still be useful if you wanted to re-shoot a
scene starting out with the same settings as on a previous
shoot, and then work from there. Otherwise I don't see
much utility in it, except for the date and time of day.

We seem to have a concensous. #5 seems to express the most fun of swimming and joking with parents, and #6 is just a great candid shot; a moment's pause to examine something of interest. All of the photos are really nice and sharp, and the sepia'd ones work quite well.
