Yeah,

Thats what I though too.
Try putting the whole thing on a box now. And then put the light outside the window. It should work, but for some reason it was not working. I have moved on from that project since, however.

Thanks for the reply, it is good to know it can be done.
PS:What type of light are you using?
Thread: Shadow Density | Forum: Blender
Once again, I'll refer to 3DSMAx.
When a shadow is cast in blender, has a certain density to it. This density seems to be 100% opaque. Now in 3DSMax, you can set the density of the shadow so it's "opaqueness" is less. This lets more of the color of the object that the shadow is falling upon shine through. So in a way I am looking for the alpha fader for shadows in blender.
As I type this I realize, I can render out a shadow pass and then composite it back together at whatever density I desire, but in 3DSMax that is built in to the renderer. It seems like a natural thing to be there, but I guess Blender does not have that (yet!)
Thanks for the replys.

Thanks for the reply.
But I have tons of textures, it is an architectural piece.
I have pretty much given up on having light come through a window.

Yeah,
I see what you mean with Shift-F. It reminds me of the airplane mode in Mojo world. It feels out of control, and that is the last place where you want to lose conrol, in camera mode. It needs to be more precise.
But thats not what I want or the way it should work, in my opinion.
When I hold down shift and middle click in the camera viewport, it should apply my mouse moves as translation to the camera directly, not the viewport itself. There is a slight difference and it speeds up work flow tremendously.
Do you know what i mean? Have you used this feature in max or maya?
Thread: Set the target back to the origin? | Forum: Blender
Thanks I'll give it a try.
Perhaps I'll visit the wish list on the blender site and ask for a disable target option. I have been resisting flipping the mouse button functionality as I have read in manuals, but I have learned on Max and Maya and left click (god damn it) is select.
Sorry about the profanity, It was all in jest. Funny, you can;t really convey sarcasm or whit via text, it just comes out wrong...

So what is the correct version of python?
I notice when I launch blender it says I am missing some portion of python. Does anyone else see that kind of message in the DOS box when it starts up?

Ok,
The blender pyhon API doc I downloaded was very unusable, is there some better documentation?

I want to use the WinSock in Python. This has no GUI, but facilitates communication through a network.
Thread: Get a single texture map for an exported OBJ | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have worked out a system. I export all meshes into a single 3DS file. I then have a single sub-material that I can apply to the entire mesh after import. With the help of maxscripting, I have been able to extend 3DS Max's ability to handle large frame count animation, treeting it more like 3D footage. I have broken the 100 frame morph channel barrier that is inherent in 3DSMax. I copy all the poser texture maps into the same folder that has the exported 3DS sequence. Max is fairly smart about finding what it can. Then I finalize the texture manually.I can work on texturing a single frame of the animation and then apply it to whatever frame I like on the fly via maxscript. One button would still be nice...

Right, I want all that to be done automatically. It is easier to render a single mesh with a single texture in Max than to have to link up all those missing textures from the MTL file to the individual meshes that come in as a group. Basically I need a boolean ADD in Poser to add all the clothing, hair, shoes and props into a single mesh while still maintaining their individual textures. At that point, Poser should export that mesh as a 3DS with a single bitmap that encompases all the materials from the figure, conforming figures and props. All from one button push. Crack!
