yeah...believe me, if companies could pay the $70 for a copy of Bryce 5 and get out of it what they need to, then they would. But they cant. There is justification for the price tag of the high end programs. If Bryce was as powerful as the "big boys" for $70, Bryce would OWN the entire industry, but the fact is it is NOT as powerful in far more aspects than just the rendering engine. "But Bryce HAS been used in production before. Mostly for games and some movie background mat renderings. I don't recall specifically what movies, but the famed MYST original game used Bryce for all it's "cinematic" scenes." You are 100% correct. But this was around 13 or so years ago (not sure about its release date). Im talking by todays standards. For example, 3ds Max, which as most of you know is a very powerful program, is losing ground to Maya in the industry. As of a couple of years ago, Max had a real good toehole on the gaming industry, but has started to lose that due to the power of the poly modeling tools available in Maya. My point is, that even a powerful program like Max is falling behind. Just shows how competitive the game/film/etc industry is. But ill second what Maxxxmodelz said, its all in what you need it to do.

"Bryce is just as good as some of the 2400$ programs if not better" -I love Bryce. My first 3d program, but this statement is not at all correct. Is its learning curve much easier? is it an all around funner app? Yes. Is it as powerful. Not in the slightest. "Most 3D programs have Boolean Operations and Bryce is damn good at it, so yes it is a true 3D modeling program." -as Maxxxmodelz said. This is not the way to go about modeling. Its extremely "messy" and pretty much unaccpeted in terms of professional modeling. But you are right, Bryce is good at boolean operands. And for hobby modeling, its just fine The Deep Procedural texture editor is unmatched by any other 3D program. "wow. sorry. completely and utterly untrue. Max, Maya etc have an unlimited range of customization when it comes to procedural textures. I suggest you try out the other apps before making such a statement <--- prepares to get flamed dont take my words as meaning that I am not a Bryce fan, because Im a huge fan. But I also know that bryce's place is thta of a hobbyist application. That is not to say that NO ONE could ever get paid to do Bryce work because I know several of you on this forum have sold your Bryce artwork. But dont get offended when people write reviews talking about how Bryce is not made for production uses. It was never intended for that. But it is great at what it does.

doom3 is awesome! (as far as the graphics and sound are concerned). Gameplay is pretty bleh, gets old and tiring shooting the same poorly scripted AI monsters after a while. Still worth checking it out, cause the presentation of it is just amazing. And if you like multiplayer, dont buy this game ok, review over...looks good Ornlu!

guinness is far from an american beer my friend ;-) a lot of the major beers here in the U.S. are very watery (Budweiser, Coors, MGD, etc). But a lot of microbrews here are very good and strong to boot! Living in Portland, OR (which happens to be the leader in micro-breweries in the U.S) I have had my share of some very good beer. Long story short, us yanks know our beer too ;-)

yeah, you might want to think about reformatting, and if you were using IE before thats part or better yet most of the problem. IE has more holes than swiss cheese. Use a more secure browser like Mozilla Firefox or Opera. I also use Adaware which has been mentioned as well as antivir. It has kept me pretty good thus far.

rochr, i love using that technique myself...and even beyond that, I almost always run levels and brightness/contrast adjustment layers to the duplicate layer in order to emphasize the "bright" areas. then running the guassian blur at about 2.5-3%. Set the layer as screen, soft light, lighten or overlay and the results are amazing. But its not like you need help to make your scenes look amazing :-)

or...render out to jpgs or tifs or tgas sequence (or whatever Bryce has available for sequence files) and download a trial copy of adobe after effects or premiere and import them. Then you can export as any movie format with any codec available. or do wut the others said and check your resolution :-)

I thought everyone wanted Bryce to grow and hopefully gain respect in the 3d community? If this new change turns out the way I am thinking its going to happen, then it will kill Bryce's chance to ever seperate itself from poser (which like rudy said, CG pros confuse the two softwares all the time). It has been said time and time again in this thread, but it must be repeated...just because Bryce is moving, doesnt mean its for the better! listen to Rudy, he knows what he is talking about. If Bryce permanently associates itself with poser (which Daz is obviously associated with even though their aren't connected with Curious Labs) then it will be a sad day for Bryce. and PJF had even a better point. Why are they going to release a new version with very few improvements??? whats the point of that? If they are really interesting in keeping Bryce's greastest features and improving its biggest faults then it needs to spend lots of time getting feedback and rebuilding the Bryce code from the ground up. Otherwise, I feel this change will only set Bryce back.

Great job Doug...very beautiful. I just started playing myself. Been at it about a year and am addicted :-) Mostly play lead, although not nearly that good yet :-).
Gotta say, I am a fan of all your guitar influences. Especially Gilmour, Van Halen, Vai and Satriani. In fact Im in the process of learning Satriani's "Always With Me Always With You". And Love playin some classic Pink Floyd :-)
