Quote - I like Lisa's stuff, but don't use it very often (hard to believe she's gone). I don't have Ken's birds. I'm not even sure if they work in Carrara or not.
My birds will work in Carrara, but some of them might take a little work. The most common issues are addressed in my Songbird ReMix FAQ.
Birds are the most common wildlife experience we have on a daily basis. Without trying to sound too self-serving, I'm surprised how many renders (particularly landscapes) I see that are birdless. I have a fairly extensive Bird wiki that shows what birds I created by region and type.

Quote - Nope, I still get the page that says, "We're not open for business yet!"
It was live this morning-- they found some issues, so turned it off to work on them. It should be up again soon.

Quote - Since y'all broke Hivewire before I was able to get there, are we able to flag products as "I have already bought" when we purchased the product elsewhere? > Quote - I like the "I have already bought" option and how you can take those items out of the list.
...I didn't notice, but will there be sale end dates?
There will be probably be several maintenance closures daily over the next week as they find and fix issues that didn't show up in the store during beta testing.
I think the "I've have bought" suggestion is a good one though I think it may be hard to implement based on what I know of the store software. They’d probably have to manually flag each product in customer’s purchase list which is very time consuming.
And yes... there are "sale ends" dates on the product pages.

Quote - OK, quick question about the forum, is that a separate registration?
I tried to log in using my store registration and got the "invalid" error ;(
It is... but within the store account settings you can link your forum account to your store account.
You'll also notice that there is a public chat within the forums

If you're working in Studio, there's a pretty easy work flow to get it into Poser with most of the work done for you...
Either export your studio work as a .cr2 or DSON it and then resave it in Poser as a .cr2.
If you have Poser2014/10, use in the "Figure" menu tree the "Copy joint zones from..." Dawn to your clothing content. "Copy morphs from..." works fairly well too. I found that simply copying the Dawn Poser WMs gets you pretty close.

Quote - It would be up to the content creator to decide whether or not to support one or both apps - there will be some that will make the effort to support both, there will be some who choose to collaborate, and there will be some who decide for one reason or another that it will be too much work (either because of skills or "the bottom line") and will stick with the app they are most familiar with.
I thought I should comment here,... while I don't obviously have much experience in 3D figure clothing sales, last year when I did my Hawaiian Hula clothing, I did both platforms (Genesis/DS and Gen4/Poser-DS). My sales to date are 51% Gen4 -49% Genesis. So from a content creator's point of view, it's makes sound financial sense to support both sides. I was strong in Poser, but less knowledgable in Studio-- so I took on a partner who filled in on my weaknesses. Creating and rigging for Dawn on both sides will be much easier because it's the same model and most of the work doesn't need to be repeat like it did with V4 and Genesis (which were two seperate models).

Quote - Realistic = with photografic texture like this,
http://www.turbosquid.com/3d-models/rigged-female-max/669560
Use the image viewer..
It is well done
..but you'll notice the price... $999
we rarely appreciate the bargain basement prices we pay for the Poser/Studio content compared to content for other 3D platforms

Quote - Ok been following this since it was first announced and it does have my support, I'm just wondering if we're going to see an official list of new features that actually makes Dawn different from all the figures that are currently available. Maybe a contrast/comparison list of features covering Dawn against the top 2 or 3 females/figures currently available.
What really hasn't been shown yet are the incredible "Posing Controls". Controls like "Arms Up", "Left Arm Down", "Torso Twist", "Bend Forward", to mention a few... These controls, even when animated, give some of the most life-like bending I've ever seen in a 3D model. Once you see those, you will see that there is a difference...

Quote - > Quote - Have you got a date of release ?
Not yet. KenG has a post on his web site saying he expects his birds to be available at Hivewire July 1, so we were guessing that that was when Dawn would be released.
But it sounds like they are making some changes to Dawn based on feedback given here and at other sites, so the date might have slipped.
The date on my website is the store opening (tenative), not the Dawn release

Do we really need to keep going on about gentials? I'm sure someone will do that other than Hivewire (and probably within the first month), so let go back and focus on what you can expect... A high-quality female character that works as well in Poser as it does in Studio. A figure that is as good, if not better, than the other female figures available now and that will be offered initially for free... I have trouble seeing why anyone would be complaining?

Since I had dozens of emails and PMs asking me where my stuff has gone and I'm sure Lisa has had the same... I think Lisa will be okay with me putting your fears to rest.
Hivewire3D, once it opens, will have the plant and bird market pretty well sewn up.

Quote - > Quote - there is 2 seprate figures Traci one for poser with poser wm the other for ds with dswm :) no dson is needed
Has anyone asked this question? Do you KNOW that for a fact?
There's certainly a DS connection here that makes me think no one has bothered to mention that Dawn will only be available through DSON.
You CANNOT rig weight mapped figures for POSER in DazStudio.
So, someone from Hivewire. Can you answer that question please?
Will the POSER version of Dawn require DSON?
I can say for a fact, no DSON required... I've looked at the .cr2... it's true, it's filled with 100% Poser weightmapping and the way she bends in each version... wow! Being primarily a Poser user, I used Poser to create the clothing product for her, and then imported my Poser work into the Studio to create that version.

Quote - Ah, well that leaves me out. I don't have DS installed, I won't ever have it installed and I won't use it. I like Roxie and Rex anyway, so my development work will be done in PP2014 for them and Miki4.
Poser 2014 fits into the Poser 9+ category as does Poser 2012

Quote - This is also going to cause problems for content makers, they are going to have to use both programs to make their products compatable with both versions.
Having actually worked with and created content for Dawn in both platforms, I can tell you it was pretty easy. The big problem for content creators in supporting both V4 and Genesis was that they were two different models, thus you had to create the morphs twice. Dawn is the same model on both sides of the fence, DS and Poser, so I only have to do the morph work once and then some minor JP tweaking for each platform.
