This is a horrendous change! If you're going to insist on these headers and footers, make it so they can be collapsed out of my way. I have a 17" laptop monitor, and yet with these fixed headers and footers, I now have a narrow band only to view the forums. I also absolutely HATE what has been done to the Freestuff section. Are we making this site for millenials and their bleeping smart phones???? A Most Wanted and Trendering section! Trendering???!!!! I'd like to add some more bleeps to this statement. And you still cannot search the Freestuff by Software. I once had in my preferences to see Freestuff that was Poser Only and could search DS if I wanted to. Now you can't do either. You have to click on the item to see if it is compatible or not. These are not good changes! Roll them back!

Very cool, Area Lights. I would like to know more. I've taken time to learn DS in order to use Iray, and one of the few things I like are the Photometric Spots and Point lights. Also is it allowed to have a peek at the node setup for the skin?

That looks very nice to me! Are you allowed at this time to talk about the lighting? Was this done with Poser's spotlights or do we have to mess with emitters?

I've been following this thread for a while and thought I would just lurk, but I'm gonna make a comment. I'm hoping that Nerd is following this thread. I think that when the next Poser ships, they need to do several things to help the new user and clear out a lot of the native content that harks back as far as Poser 7. That means dump all the very dumb shaders that come stock with Poser because they were not made for the current version, they still use all the old hacks that we used to use. Make new and updated shaders. Knock on BB's door to get some. Dump the old lights and load in light sets that will work 'out of the box' with IDL. If they are going to insist on still including IBL light sets then fix the bug in the GC of images attached to an IBL!!!! (pet peeve of mine because sometimes I like the look of IBL but can't use it any more in Poser 10). Include a World Sphere along with those HDRs they've included with Poser. Have tutorial scenes ready with the new lights, world sphere, and IDL. Native Poser figures (from new all the way back to Posette) should load with proper SSS shaders developed by BB and Snarly so newbies know what is standard instead of learning about it by digging around in the forums. Please, please change the 'out of the box' default camera that is set at 25mm! Make all the content that comes with the program be as current as the features inside the program! Oh, yeah, and about GC...fix how it is implimented! If I change GC from 2.20 to 1.9, the render should be darker, not lighter! If I play with GC in Iray or Luxrender and take it to 2.0 or 1.9, the image is darker as it should be. Give us saturation control at time of render, not the tone mapping options that are included now (both of which look terrible). I'll probably think of others after I post this.
Things like this will encourage the new user and maybe some of the older users who just keep doing Poser 6 and 7 renders in the newest version of Poser without trying out the new features. I very much welcome a PBR render option for Poser. Cycles was not a choice I was thinking of, but if they set it up so that it translates and uses shader set ups like BB has graciously given us, then that's a big plus!

Worked on it for most of yesterday. Couldn't quite get the lighting the way I wanted to show off your wonderful Soda Glass. This is from me (very, very hot in BC) to you!

Thanks, I'm trying that now. If it turns out, I'll have a render for you of your great soda glass!

Got it, installed it!!! Wow, thanks so much! I'm still learning DS and Iray and I was wondering if you wouldn't mind putting up the duf file for your promo image of the drink glass there so that we could look at the lighting and render set up?

Thread: Does IBL work differently between P8, P9 and P10? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Sorry, BB, I don't remember in what thread it was that someone mentioned it had been reported. I didn't bookmark the thread. Of course with my memory it could have been you or someone else in the thread telling me that I should report it. But I really think it was said by someone that it had been reported. It should be fixed. Sometimes I prefer the look of IBL, and it gives me contrast control which I don't think it possible under IDL. For that matter I haven't figured out why there aren't some things like contrast and saturation built into the interface so they are applied at render time. I hate having to go to an art program after I've saved my finished image. It's not that I hate post work, it's just that for a while (around P7 and P2010), that I could produce an image right out of Poser that I felt was postable without post work. Anyway, I hate that because of a bug that I am 'crippled' in my choice of lightng solutions.

BB, as far as I can tell, there is still a problem with GC and any image attached to an IBL light. Sometimes the image on the IBL will display correctly and sometimes it will be blown out as if GC has suddenly gone to 1.0 instead of 2.20. And its not just a display thing, it will render that way. And it flip flops. Every 3 test renders or so the GC on the image attached to the IBL will flip, either it will be correctly displayed or it will be blown out. Checking the box for custom GC and putting it at 2.20 doesn't stop this behavior. When I mentioned this in the past, someone said that this had been reported but it doesn't seem to have been fixed but I haven't gotten and installed the latest update.

Those are absolutely gorgeous Iray renders! I have just started messing with Iray in the last week and I would love to know about your lighting methods for these promos because you make your character really pop! He is such a hunk!

I'd love to know those camera settings. I'd like to understand those settings. And your metal shaders, just love them! You're materials are why I'm still not completely sold on Luxrender. Thanx to you, I have far more materials to use with Poser than with Lux or IRay.

Thread: Why has no one mentioned this???? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks, I wasn't aware that its been mentioned on the SM Poser blog and I haven't been to the DAZ forums in about two years. I was just floored when I saw the end bit on that video. I've subscribed to the channel and will probably watch the rest of the series because I also love Anime.
