Quote - This issue has been reported to me by several EZSkin users, most commonly because of blue ears!
And yes, this is why the Max Scatter Trick (invented by Bagginsbill) was reinstated in the latest builds.
I have the latest version of your EZSKIN, and I was wondering why you had put that trick back in there. I'll give it a shot, so thanks again for your code.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions.
Thread: OT - Apology to Snarly | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - > Quote - The problem is it will have dropped off of page one by Thursday; It should have been a stickied thread like V4WM and Pose2Lux.
I can do this, if people think it's important. If I do, I'll probably go through and remove all the crap posts first.
I suspect, however, SG will post an uopdated script before long and will render this thread obsolete.
Anyway, I'll do whatever the group would find useful.
I certainly agree that progress should not be stopped on a subject for a distraction put up by someone either intentionally or unintentionally. I thought Snarlygribbly was going somewhere there and I hated to see his progress ended (his stuff is wonderful by the way). However, the ever present concern over censorship raises it's ugly head here in the States at the thought of the deletion of contradictory posts. So could I suggest that instead of deleting those posts that were deemed counterproductive, they be transferred to a new topic thread and reposted there? The poster retains his right to expression of this beliefs, but does not disrupt the flow of the original thread and the progress it offers. I believe I've seen this approach taken by DAZ on their forum. Their moderators reserve the right to move posts to the appropriate location. Seems like a legal precedence...
Thanks
Thread: HAIR SHADER now available | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - Despite having too much work today, you got me to revisit my hair shader.
I switched to procedural color instead of texture color, and I added reflections, and tweaked a double anisotropic specular.
I'm pretty pleased with this, but for two things:
It's grainy
I still have berzerk specular at the top - observe the orange hot spots.
That's really excellent... I'd buy that in a minute...
Thread: Poser Pro 2012 latest update | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - I updated poser pro 2012 with I believe SR3 and now when do I do a library search it can only find content in Poser Pro 2012 and not in any of the previous versions I have installed and sometimes not even in there..I checked and again added all the other runtimes but most of the time the search comes up with nothing when in the past it would work normally....any ideas and thank you.
I loaded SR3 last night and had something similiar happen. I think during the installation, you are asked if you want to use the defalt preferences and save your old ones in a back-up (the default). If you accepted that and didn't change to another option, your libraries are removed (it's a dumb default). There is a fix that's simple. Look in this posting at the bottom. I repeat the steps that worked for me in there.

Thread: Poser 9 / Poser Pro 2012 SR2 available now, plus a little update on other areas | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - > Quote - When installing I chose the middle option of backing up my preferences, does anyone know where these are backed up to? Failling that which is the quckest way to get back to somewhere close to where is was as in getting my interfact windows docked correctly.
The installer moves away your custom preferences if you select that option. They get renamed with a time stamp (time of installation). To get your prefs back, please do the following:
- Shut down Poser
- Go to c:UsersAppDataRoamingPoser Pro [1]
- Move away ‘9’ and rename the latest time stamped folder (e.g. ‘9_2012_04_11 6_06_06 AM’) to ‘9’
- Restart. Everything should look like before updating.
[1] For geeks: %AppData%Poser Pro, or %AppData%Poser if you're running Poser 9
Thanks for the tip. I just ran into this with the SR 3 update. It was slightly different on my Windows XP PC
I had to look under C:Documents and SettingsuserApplication DataPoser Pro
Thread: Subdivision in Poser | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Sorry to interrupt, but I'm curious about something Laurie said.
Quote - It's not made for V3 or V4...why the heck would ya wanna subdivide something that's smooth enough? Only really low rez stuff you'd wanna subdivide...
Laurie
If you could just subdivide V4's armpits (the "collar" in V4's terminology), would that improve the funny creases you get there when the arms are down? I know about V4-WM and all the fixes, I'm trying them all, but it seems to me something is still off there even after the fixes are applied. I wonder if this might help V4 in that regard.
Thanks
Thread: Modeling program for V4/M4 morphs | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I use Blacksmith3D morph program a lot. It may be very similar to Poser's own morph tool, but I started with it and just kept going. It's pretty good for rounding cheeks, noses, or chins. I've used it on other Poser body parts, but mostly the face. He developed the thing to work with Poser in a very easy manner from what I can tell. I use Version 4, but I think he has a new version out now.
I did most of my V4 to Frankenstein morph using his software. It's here if you want to see it.

He has some youtube videos to give you an idea what the program will do.

Thread: Best hair for a Lt. M'Ress style "mane" | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - > Quote - I'm not familiar with the M'Ress character...
In brief, during 1973, Filmation (the animation studio probably best known for "He-Man" and "Fat Albert") released a cartoon adaptation of Star Trek that was overseen by Gene Roddenberry and DC Fontana, starred 6 of the original cast, with scripts from several of the original series writers.
Taking advantage of the medium, 2 exotically "alien" crew members were introduced, Arex, a 3 legged, 3 armed "Edoan", and M'Ress, a being sharing certain attributes with those of terrestrial felines. They weren't treated as "comical mascots" (ala Scooby Doo)but simply as crew. Because so little was done with the new characters, that mystery gained the interest of some viewers (like moi) over the years.
Attached is the one shot that came closest in appearance to the original character design sheets. (The art and coloring tended to vary between shots due to the insane schedule Filmation had to endure.) I'll leave it for you to decide if the hair Ali released resembles the cartoon art.
Sincerely,
Bill
Thanks for the explaination. I barely recall the cartoon series. I saw it for sale as a DVD collection in Best Buy awhile back and should have bought it. I recall it was not cheap. I like the new render too.

I'm not familiar with the M'Ress character, but that's a really nice render. The hair looks great.
I like Ali's hair products too. I just bought the ponytail and am trying it out tonight. Good to see such a helpful vendor...
Thanks for sharing...

And when you look in the "Hierarchy Editor", the shoe that's distorting is parented to the left foot as you believe it should be? It's not parented to the left toe by mistake?
Thread: Parenting problem in SR3 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - Maybe I should state it again. PARENTED. NOT conformed. I'm getting this with parented props. I should have no crosstalk. They are not grouped. They are two separate props - right shoe, left shoe. These are NOT conformed at all. I'm totally befuddled. I didn't even mistakenly go into the setup room. I've never had a problem parenting a prop in as long as I have Poser (since 4), I've never had them move when I parent them and I certainly never had them act like they were conformers. They aren't...lol. I'm stumped.
Laurie
Okay I understand. Bear with me for a minute, trying to help. If the shoes were "characters" (I know you said "prop" but all of my shoes are "characters" or figures) when you loaded them, I don't know if you can avoid cross-talk. I think its inherent in the design. I sometimes bring in hair as a character and parent it to the head rather than conforming. When I move the head I alway have to adjust it.
ANYWAY, I have a proposed fix. Have you tried loading the shoes and then exporting them one by one as an obj then importing them back in, then parenting them to the feet? That should eliminate any strange links to other body parts, etc. You may have to play with the materials some and you will loose your morphs, but I've had some luck with this as a work around.
Good luck
