nice shot, i think a thin border would help draw the eyes in even moreThread: From my first model shoot (partial nudity) | Forum: Photography

im going to agree that the expression on his face is a bit odd... i would suggest burning the other half (his left side, we view it as right) so its not so bright, that should help... move the shadow line from the center of his face more to the right, to help to cover it up some more... theo there things im not really fond of is the bright light above the couch in the upper right corner of the photo... thats an easy fix in photoshop, just burn it or fill it in black, its soo bright it just draws the eyes straight there. lastly, and this is more of a perosnal taste thing, is your framing of the photo. there is way too much going on... you've beveled the edges of the photo, put it on a white background w/ text on the bottom and added a drop shadow... imho, its just too busy... i would loose the bevel on the photo, increase the size of the white frame, keep the dropshadow and move the text farther down on the now enlarged white frame, or if u dont wanna enlarge the whole thing, at least add another 40-50 pixels to the bottom of it so the text isnt so smushed in there.Thread: Image Presentation | Forum: Photography

ive grown really fond of the glass display's, the have no "frames", just a heavy cardboard backing and a piece of glass w/ the matte and photo sandwitched between, held in place by clips around the photo... lately ive also been really fond of dual tone mattes, black w/ a stark white undermat, so when it's cut for the opening, there is a small white trim around the photosThread: Carli | Forum: Photography

JordyArt - before u go bashing harley's, i think you should know that the owner of that bike also owns a custom cycle and powersports shop, maily focusing on sport bikes, and his main bike is a 2002 r1, while his grrlfriend rides a 2002 954rr.com... check the link below and u can see him, his grrlfriend, and a LOT of their friends riding =)Thread: On a roll | Forum: Photography

my 2 cents - the "original" scan, even though shrunk from its initial scan size, tells more of a story then the cropped, colorized/corrected version doesThread: On a roll | Forum: Photography

nice macro, only crop about 20 pixels off the top, the trees in the distance are a bit distracting, otherwise, great imageThread: take a pic, go to jail!! | Forum: Photography
bsteph - not sure how the laws werk in the UK, but in the us, we have that luvly freedom of the press which enables them to photograph and publish anything clearly seen and visable on a public street or place, or if taken on private propterty w/ rights given to said photographer - that is how the news can show video footage of football games w/ 100,000 screaming fans in the background. it would b an interesting lawsuit to say the least if you worked for a legit newspaper, say the post or ny times and were taking photos of the bridge for a documentation of say its 150th aniversary or something, and how it would b played out in court should the gov't choose to strip u of your rights to the photos - especially when you consider the us copyright office, and its explination of when something is copyrighted, and i quote, "Your work is under copyright protection the moment it is created and fixed in a tangible form so that it is perceptible either directly or with the aid of a machine or device." take from http://www.loc.gov/copyright/

the second one looks a LOT better, however it seems the focus is on the wing's and not the face, either way though, the reduction of grain is a great improvementThread: DSLR... recommendations, somebody ? | Forum: Photography

peterke - im glad you like my site - look for updates coming towards the end of this week. i hear what your saying about them pulling the d60, but canon has to offer a "low end" digital camera in the 1800-2200 usd $ market to compete w/ the nikon d100 - if its replaced by anything, look for something w/ a bigger buffer, faster write time and firewire capability. for a lens, a 24-85 F3.5-4.5 ULTRASONIC BLACK canon will run you $280 from www.keh.com brand new, but i think judging by what u want to shoot, a 28-105 F3.5-4.5 MACRO ULTRASONIC II canon will suit you a lil better - u will loose a lil on the wide open end, the 28 will act more like a 44mm - but even around family and friends, the differance between 28mm and 44mm is one step backwards - the real gain is on the zoom end, the 105 is more like a 170mm and at $220 new, its a great bang for the buck. if your looking for one lens to carry everywhere, check out the tamron (yes the quality isnt as good as canon, but its still a great lens) 24-135 F3.5-5.6 TAMRON ASPHERICAL SP IF AD MACR0 which goes for just under $400 newThread: Two Images | Forum: Photography

my 2 cents, for what its worth - the colors in the first photo are nice, however i don't really see anything special about it... the 2nd photo - maybe if it was cropped a bit more - but now it just looks like a shot of sneakersThread: Selling Prints | Forum: Photography

ive sold a few pieces in the past, im currently trying to decide if i want to activly try to sell it or not... i dont think there is anything wrong w/ selling your work - people buy photos all the time... and there are tons of sites dedicated to this. pricing is a whole differant story though - and can be very subjective... i recently found a photographer who was making silver gel prints and they were going for 350-500 on his site - if you ask me thats a bit out of controlThread: DSLR... recommendations, somebody ? | Forum: Photography

dont be scared about them pulling the plug on the d60, when it happens stuff will just go on sale, thats all. i havnt shot the d60, but i have shot the eos 1d, and i currently shoot an eos a2 - if you shoot an eos body, its like picking up an old friend... the only thing you have to get used to is setting the iso and the white balance, everything else is virtually the same. lenses - good all around? thats somewhat subjective since the d60 has a 1.6x multiplier in it which means recomending a 70-200 lens is really 112mm - 360mm lens. your budget will really deterimine this too. also, if your not gonna be needing a fast lens you can save some $$ by going w/ the middle ground lenses that are f/3.5-5.6 rather then the high end f/2.8-4 - but again its all a matter of what you shoot, if u want to hall more then one lens with you, or if u dont want a boat anchor of a lens as the only one u carry - such is the case w/ the 2.3 pount canon 85mm f/1.2This site uses cookies to deliver the best experience.
