Actually, you can leave the light property set to "Depth map shadows" if you want. With either depth map or ray traced shadows, make sure "Cast shadows" is selected in the Render Options menu, plus "Raytracing on" if you set the light properties to Ray Trace shadows as suggested by xantor.

Thread: HELP! Poser 5 Dynamic Hair Question... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yes, the collision detection in Poser 5 can be turned on for the dynamic hair, and you can turn on collision detection for body parts and have them deform the hair as you describe. In my experience, the collision detection is not perfect and hair strands will pass through the hand. You may be able to work around this with suitable camera angles or by avoiding extreme closeups of the hair. Creating a decent hairstyle using dynamic hair is a bit of an art. P5 comes with some dynamic hairstyles for Judy and Don created by HMann and Neftis. Turning on the collision detection and calculating the dynamics is fairly trivial once you have your hair in place. Thread: I can aply face morphs for victoria 3 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Sekopasa, With Poser 5 I have found that if you have the Head selected when you inject the optional V3 morphs from the Pose folder, they don't show up at first in the Head's parameter dials. You have to select some other body part and then select the head to see the newly injected dials. Same thing for body morphs. The hair in the Poser 5 Hair / Dynamic Hair folder will not work with Victoria, it is designed for Judy. Perhaps that is your problem? Cheers, Poseur

For a quick fix, you can use the Properties palette to make the offending body parts invisible. For instance if the hip is poking through the pants, uncheck the "Visible" setting for it. Obviously this only works for body parts that are completely hidden by the clothing or are off-camera. If the shins poke through the bottom of the pant leg, try using the scale and taper dials on the pant legs to adjust their shape, or deform them slightly with a magnet. As Phil suggests, the Cloth room also works well but requires a bit more computing power and time.

Have you also reinstalled the SR3 patch? This used to happen to me sometimes, but never with the current patch. You also might want to try going under Edit>Preferences and changing the Document and Interface Preferences to "Launch to factory state". Quit and restart Poser, then restore these preferences to your liking and see if they stick.
Thread: Another Plea for Help from all you Great Folks Poser5 face room | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
This is not a bug, just a stupid limitation of P5. It only creates a texture map for the head and puts it in Poser 5/Runtime/textures/faceroom. I'm not sure what you mean by nodes not working, but there are a couple of workarounds that work more or less for me. In the Material room, you can play around with the Diffuse Color node for the SkinBody material to get the body color to match the face better. Try editing the Diffuse Color node and using the eyedropper tool to pick up the darkest part of the face color as a starting point. Or, if your figure is clothed AND the only skin showing is in the neck area AND you are viewing the head from the front, you can edit the body texture map and replace it with the face image map from the above folder. The front of the neck will match the head perfectly. The rest of the figure's skin will look like a burn victim, however... :-)
Thread: Reinstalling Poser 5 - I am scared, reassurance needed! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
"...when I reinstalled it, it no longer lets me load PZ3 files" This might fix your problem without the hassle of reinstalling Poser: Try renaming your Poser folder to something else such as PoserTEMP. Run Vue and try importing a PZ3 file. Vue will ask you to locate your Poser.exe file. Tell it where it is. Now, quit Vue, rename the Poser folder back to the original name. Go back into Vue and repeat the process of importing a PZ3 file and telling Vue where Poser.exe is located. Give it a try and good luck!

e-on are apparently working on a new Mover 5 release for vue which is supposed to be able to import Poser 5 dynamic cloth and hair.
Thread: Poser 5, Mover 4 and Vue Pro | Forum: Vue
Here's the link to the Vue 4.2 beta patch (PC version). It will let you import into Vue even if only Poser 5 is installed on your machine. I tried it and it works great. http://www.e-onsoftware.com/Temp/Vue4.2Beta4FullUpdate.exe
Thread: Poser 5, Mover 4 and Vue Pro | Forum: Vue
There is a patch version 4.2 coming for Vue d'Esprit 4 that will allow it to import models and animations from Poser 5. The method they used to check whether you have a valid copy of Poser 4 was broken by the different security scheme on Poser 5. The patch to allow Vue to detect a valid Poser 5 license is in public beta release. Personally I'm going to wait for the official release. The initial release of Vue Pro apparently doesn't have this problem and is capable of importing from Poser 5. Treeabear, when Vue asked you to find the Poser.exe file, did you direct it to the Poser 5 version? If so, try renaming the folder in which Poser 5 is located. Start Vue and try to import a Poser model. It will ask you to locate Poser.exe again. This time, be sure to point it to the Poser 4 exe. It will check your license and you should be able to import static Poser models. Don't forget to rename the Poser 5 folder back to the original. Mover is used to import animations and is not required to import static models.
Thread: Is posette in P5? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yes, P5 comes with Posette and the other P4 and earlier models. Eve and Azura also work fine in P5.
Thread: newbie posing question... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Perhaps you have Skip Frames checked on, which is Poser's default -- go to the Animation menu and make sure it is unchecked.
