I doubt this will really have that drastic an effect on the current Poser communities and 3rd party vendors any time soon. I welcome anyone who wants to create additional content but just databasing what's available isn't all that exciting to me. They are still going to have to face the pricing structure and quality issues as all the rest.
I've noticed that 3D model vendors that try to simultaneously sell to the various markets including Poser models have a hard time dealing with the Poser pricing structure. That's why we see these ludicrous prices like $150 for an untextured Soccer ball model when we are used to getting professionally designed human figure models with all the bells and whistles for $50 or less.
All in all it sounds a bit reminiscent of the "Web Links" file menu option that has been around since Poser 4.

There is also "Bobby". It's Michael 1.0 with the Poser 4 body and it's at Poser 3D Gladiators.Thread: Something that needs to be said about the Poser 5 announcement | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I sometimes wonder how many people use the current animation capabilities of Poser. I think that Curious Labs is absolutely right to add and improve features like animation, hair systems and collision detection. And I believe that those type improvements will figure into many folks buying logic - but I doubt any large percentage of Poser 5 purchasers are going to use it much. Nor are we going to toss out the gigabytes of Poser files we've accumulated through freestuff, purchases and our own hard work just because there are new models available. I still use P4 clothing with Michael/Victoria figures (usually the head on a P4 body) all the time.
Thread: real historical figures | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Steve and Rena at Poserworld are the only one's I know of doing real historical figures. So far they've done: King Louis XIV Queen Elizabeth King Henry VII Justinian Theodora Caesar PoserWorld is one of the best all around places for historical figures in general (not just individuals but Roman Soldiers, British Naval Officers, etc.).

TalmidBen, I'm still working on it and it will probably just be the textures and the props. For now the gown is a PoserWorld biblical gown. If I can work out the details it won't be much.

I haven't been able to get to Poserworld for the last day or so. I know Alan said he was moving the server but I thought he was finished. I'm unable to get to either the Sub or the Free URL's. Is the site down?

I'm glad to see you are planning on getting your site back online. It would be a great loss to the Poser community (as well as the 3D community at large) to see it go away permanently.
Thread: Frosty eyebrows | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
tasmanet's suggestion is where I'd start as well. But I've also had a similar problem when I accidentally set the Eyebrow transparency to 100% (when I meant to do the Upper Eyebrows). When I saw the Upper Eyebrows weren't transparent I went and set them to 100% and could not figure out why I was getting this wierd bright line above the eyebrows. Eventually I went through and found that Eyebrow was 100% transparency.

If you can't find exactly what you are looking for you may want to try finding a suitable world texture and using it to make a Tranparency Map on a Sphere.
