Got your message, Joe!
That's perfect!
And since the Mil' 3 figures have a "socks" morph for the feet, nothing more is needed!

Content Advisory! This message contains nudity
DAZ thought this too provocative for its forums, so I'm showing it here.
Lt. Mzzkiti (using Melody for A3) roleplays the mad scientist C.A. Rotwang from Fritz Lang's "Metropolis". She's roped in a couple of her cremates, Dee Rainged and F.L.O. to play two other notable characters, Maria, the social worker and the iconic Maschinenmensch. Dee/Maria is Aiko 3 with the head of "The GIRL" seamlessly fused onto the body (I forget who who worked out that and offered it to artists). F.L.O./Maschinenmensch also uses that figure in combination with Shukky's "B-Co".
Though reflections, "glares" and encircling metallic bars obscures any and everything, I'm tagging this with "nudity" just to avoid somebody getting their knickers in a twist. I mean, DAZ didn't object to the A3 version of Dejah Thoris (which I posted early in this very thread) and she reveals a heck of a LOT more than the reclining figure does in this piece, but the "inner sanctum" at the other site said, "Nope!"

I tagged this post...I think it's incredible that this thread has 20 pages (forum default settings) and NO content advisories.

...with a nudity warning.  And that was on the first page, dated 2015.  Does that not count?

What hair set did you use for her "mane"? I'm always curious to learn what other people employ.Melody as Lt. M'Ress again. It's the Poserworld dress, which is more authentic but not as well made. I should probably do a better job of blending the pads in with the palm texture. I did it via Photoshop, since I have never figured out how overlays work in Firefly.

Thanks! It's the "Blank Boi" from (you know where) with clothing accessories extracted from an XNALara asset. That Marvin is just TOO cute!
Dodger's "Marvin" has the benefit of eyes that can convey expression and "look" around), but the arms and legs are considerably longer than Chuck Jones' "model sheets". If "shrunk", they "ripple" and "warp". I could have "frankensteined" the two figures, using the head of Dodger's freebie upon the shoulders of the "Blank Boi", but I didn't think of it when I composed this silly composition.
A friend upon a different forum thought Mzzkiti" was holding a miniature rocket, taunting Marvin. The accidental alignment of her left hand does kinda' suggest that, but it's supposed to be her transport, Coflek-Gnorg's pill shaped saucer being Marvin's.

I did a render with Dodger's Marvin, but this image uses the "Blank Boi" (from "you know where") and the helmet, skirt and tennis shoes are from a figure I exported from XNALara. You can tell because the accessories here have sharply designed edges while Dodger modeled very "soft" surfaces, a stylistic choice I imagine.
As for the shared mapping? I can't remember. I'd need to find the UV templates for each product or open them in UV Mapper to compare.
Sincerely,
Bill

You can see how the knee, upper thigh, elbow and shoulder sections employ a displacement by simply using a texture that is really nothing more than a series of thin horizontal lines. Obviously, this kind of UV layout would not be good intricate patterns position along the edges of the torso and limbs as they would get stretched. But for this kind of thing, it makes texturing far easier.

Bill

Thanks. I suppose it was to make it easier for texturists. Interesting that they did that back then. Maybe it's no longer necessary, with the 3D painting apps available now.
Yeah, tools like that are available...not all end users have them.
Not too long ago I used the "planar mapped" version of the A3 suit to depict a "Major Matt Mason" (bendy action figure of the late 1960s) styled spacesuit. The straight on projection made it easier to create the "joint pleats" without having to meticulously follow curved surfaces. So items like that still have their uses.

Bill

The PM version stands for "planar mapping", meaning it's a straight projection along the "Z" (front/back) axis. The other is more akin to a reverse "bearskin" layout.

It clearly states it in the rules, but for anybody thinking of depicting of showing, say, "Star Trek" on an old TV or a studio audience recording session of "Happy Days" will be rejected. The contest will not allow any real "entertainment properties". So instead of "Flash Gordon", better make your pulp era space hero distinctively different enough to avoid overt comparisons.
Ah, well that knackers my idea for Daleks, then. :(
Either I misread the rules or Rendo' altered them since I first read them August 4th. Currently it states...
"This contest theme is inspired by a tv show genre, therefore fan art will be accepted. Altered screenshots of any tv show or an actor's likeness will be removed."
So, according to that, Sam, it seems as though you CAN depict Daleks using your army of different travel machine designs!
Still the phrasing at the end can be read a couple of different ways.
First interpretation: One can not use altered screenshots of a TV show nor screenshots of an actor's likeness.
Second interpretation: One can not use an altered screenshot of any TV show. And, one can not use an actor's likeness, period. This second interpretation is broader in scope, meaning one can not use an actor's likeness at all, even if it's a digital sculpt, like those once offered by Werts at ShareCG.
Not trying to be a wiseguy, but phrasing is critical.

I dunno'... See it as an opportunistic challenge instead. Had my writing partner not died and we continued our web comic some 20 years ago, we would have introduced a rough parallel, a "race" of parasite controlled, cybernetically enhanced, disembodied cerebellums hailing from the Dahna'Vah stellar system...the Dahna'vahn Brains!
...Groan...
Hey, our strip lived for corny wordplay and silly tropes! ;-)

Bummer. I always assumed he was retired or something considering how prolific he is.
Unless I misread it, in one of his posts where informed us of his fiscal conditions, he also noted he was "nearing" or "almost" 50. Still a "young (well, younger) buck" from my perspective.

Oops! Never mind.
Somehow the "windows, library" parameter got unchecked. I clicked that and...POP... there was the "AIR" window.
