Hi Bobby,
I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with Poser 7 locking up on you. I'm not sure what the exact problem would be that would be causing that but I have a few ideas that you could try.Â
IÂ hope this helps in some way!

That's okay. :) Yes, I hope so. That's something I think that would bring out a lot more realism in renders, what we're discussing here and also somehow making the eye area (around the lids, and lower lashes) more specular. I suppose for around that area you could use a specular map for the "SkinHead" material. I'm not sure how the node experts figure out all of the complicated details but I'm glad they do.

Thanks for the explaination of the Edge_Blend node! Yeah, that would be great if they had a node like that. It would be great if there was nodes we could apply that would fix problem areas such as those. To give the eyes more wetness at the lower lid to achieve more realism. Thank you for your help anyways. :) Hopefully I'll find a solution soon. I'll experiment around and see if I can't get it to look better. If I get anything presentable, I'll post a preview :)

Yeah, there still seems to be a very well defined line between the eyes and the rest of the face. It doesn't look as smooth. I'll have to check the texture out soon. Perhaps I could use some of the clone tool or something around the eyes. It's a strange problem. Would an Edge_Blend node help anywhere? Thanks though! :)

Oh sheepish sorry! :) I want to make sure I have this correct from your previous post. Are you saying apply the same texture for the face to the eyesocket as well? I'm trying that and it's still not blending very well. I'm not sure why, as that should've worked.

Thanks for your tips, advice and preview render!  Regrettably there's only a "EyeSocket" material for the "inside of the lids" for David. :( The texture I'm using has an "EyeSocket" texture applied to it already -- however, by darkening the diffuse color to grey it seems to help. I may decide to make the grey a little more pinkish. I wish there was a way to make it a little more slightly wet though.

I'm using the David figure from DAZ.
I've tried adding glossy to the "eyesocket"Â material and it still doesn't seem to look wet or softened.Â

Thanks for your reply!
When you go to export the object from Poser, I check off both the morph target option and the groups options. Then I import it using a ZBrush plug in called "Poser Scaler." I then morph it to my liking, export using the same plug in and then I try to load it onto the "chest" group. I've also tried applying it to "Body" as well. When I try to add them, the Poser screen acts like it's locking up and won't do anything. I've even tried importing just the "body" instead of all of the groups (it's only a scalp cap thing) and it still locks up. I've tried importing the objects and they seem to load. I'm just not sure why it would lock up on a simple scalp cap by trying to apply it as a morph.
I'll have to try your other suggestions soon -- thanks!

Thanks for your reply and tips, EnglishBob! :)
I'll check and see. But as far as I know, there are only very few props in the scene - just attached to the character. I looked at the editor, but it shows nothing that I know of besides what is attached to the figure. I've noticed it seems to happen when I've added a reflection map (no matter what the map may be to reflect).

Oh, okay. I'm sorry to hear you're still having problems with the character you're working on. I'm having a similar problem in with everytime I load a certain hairprop on my character, it seems to render really slow and eventually acts like it's going to lock up.
The only reason I think of for the issue you've mentioned is perhaps something with the paticular prop? Or something with the service pack on Poser 7. I guess one could always reinstall Poser - but I'm hoping you nor I have to do that. LOL :)
Please keep is updated as to if you find a resolution to the problem!

Ah, okay. Maybe it's something with the service pack on Poser 7? Just guessing though. I see you say the problem your having is resolved. That is great. :)

I'm having a similar problem with Poser myself as of recently. Sometimes when I load a non-conforming hair prop and either try to change lights (by using the Delete Lights) script or trying to render it (having Raytracing on), it acts like it's busy and just waits. If I click on it too many times I get the "(not responding)."  However, the problem is not with V4 for me.
Are you using Poser 7?
