It appears over the previous generated preview image. There's a 99% that the updated preview image will be the same. Vue gives such processes a very low priority. I can set it higher in my Vue options.

In the 9.5 version I have, it means that the software is waiting for your CPU to compute a preview of the material.

What texture maps does the app generate for you? Check your highlight settings of the materials, to see that nothing is set negative. Check any alpha maps.

Ok. I don't over-clock my stuff. So don't have experience about such things. On my system, 3D-Coat will make my video card's fan come on (could be the Cuda thing). But Vue doesn't make my video card sweat at all.

Last I checked, the GPU gets used only if toggled on in Vue's render options. And then only if there's an object in your scene that can benefit from GPU maths.
