Doesn't anybody use an ad blocker?
All they had to do was make it ad free and free for anybody who
contribues models, but charge the $10 annual fee for people
who only download other's stuff.
(face:palm)!

You should also read the Octane license very carefully:
And I quote:
"This license does not grant you the right to receive updates or bug fixes for the Software, Documentation or Examples."
No right to recieve updates?
Sort of negates all this:
" It's clarified on the Beta program page: "Your beta license will also be valid for the final v1.0 Edition release, and subsequent dot releases such as v1.1, v1.2, etc, and will allow a reduced upgrade cost to future v2.0 releases. "
Doesn't it? yeah....

ok thanks for not answering my question.
It seems the problem is a browser problem, but:
dearest chohole, I have not posted today, not after the one that got deleted, have I?
I was talking about today. Just because I have successfully posted in the past, does not mean there is not a new problem now. Got it?
So since I don't seem to be able to edit it, I won't, but I will that I have gotten the immpression that I am not the only one who thinks the new TOS is excessive.
Never mind about helping me, I've opened a "help request" at the daz help center.

Ps: to pjz99 - you just did it yourself - you made a reference to nazi jokes, without acutally making a nazi joke yourself. You refered to nazi jokes as a way of illustrating percieved lowness, and that is exactly what I'm doing - illustrating the lowness.
We are on the same page!

Quote - > Quote - Oh yes, it's funny all right, using your sexist hatred just because you know Jenl is female - it's about as funny as jokes about lynching niggers.
hey since you're pushing this down even further how about a nazi joke to round things out, tia
Dear pjz99, referring to it is not the same as saying it. Please think it through. Also, I have asked a moderator what the policy is about sexist hatred on the forum, and sent along that particular post. So yeah, I'm trying to do something constructive about it. Thanks for your, er, advice...... though!

Quote - Rance! You're early still! The PTB are off on holiday and$#@^..*NO CARRIER....
Heh. Jus' kidding.
The trick is to ignore the garbage, ignore the obvious trolls and tight-arses (...as /me waves at the newbie Tyler guy trying to impress his apparent online girlfriend... hello!), and get straight to the points that make sense.
Ah yes, the inane ramblings of an egomaniac who thinks far too much of himself, and of his supposedly innate wisdom. Funny how it always happens that the sexist haters think there's something of value in doing it. And then nobody speaks up because too many still actually think that way.
Oh yes, it's funny all right, using your sexist hatred just because you know Jenl is female.

Quote - Saw the same thing earlier today... no real (or full) explanation, no nothing, anywhere. If this was public, it should have been locatable somewhere on the site, or with screenshots, or...?
Still reading through it for clues.
Edit - nope. Nothing by hysterical whining and ranting. :/
Nevertheless, was it really necessary to grab onto some tired old sexist hatred, and use it against Janl, just because you knew
she's female? I find it tiresome and offensive.

So - with interdependence of all these entities proven beyond belief, where does it leave all that angsty, menopausal, catty, snide and otherwise overly dramatic bullcrap generated by a bunch of bored housewives with no lives?
So are you suggesting that Janl is a menopausal yet bored housewife with no life?
Do you have any real evidence of it?

As the program is experimental and was never intended to be a finished product you may run into problems in the beginning, in that case please refer to the forum and this Wiki. > > It does look impressive in speed compared to the OpenCL version, but is it right to compare something that was an experiment and is no longer under development against something that is under development?Of course they were going to stop development of smallluxgpu and integrate it into luxrender. So what? Given that smallluxgpu 1.6 is what is currently integrated into luxrender, (correct?), and that smallluxgpu 2.0 will be, I don't see the problem here.
Quote - I may be slightly biased in some perspective, but if something works and is faster, I'm not one to disregard it. I would definitely use SLG, and it would give me a reason to do more in Blender...
I've attached another reason to disregard Octane to this post, and I don't see a problem with non-members seeing the thread. Paq Wak complained about a bug that "radiance" couldn't fix, so "radiance" revoked his license and refunded his money. He was better off than me, I didn't get any money back.
Quote - Hell, i may download it anyways just to play around since it does look promising.
And the next version of smallluxgpu, as a part of luxrender itself is going to have MLT.

> Quote - Ok, I guess I'll hafta run a little experiment with screen captures. I'll set up a scene in Poser, and export it to Lux and Octane, and render it, and see which renders faster. It'll be the only definitive proof since testimonies aren't adequate enough. > > But I have used the GPU accelerated versioni of Lux, and will be using it in this experiment, but it's always been slower than Poser in my experience, but does have better image output. > > I shall return later with videos showing render differences.
It might be better if a more, er, disinterested party would do the test comparison.
And in hte meantime, while I seardc hfor more info, I'm attaching a link to a preview of smallluxgpu version 2.0.

Quote - Unfortunately you posted a link in which we'd need to register to view... Which I will never register with some random website just to view a link someone posted.
If you wanna make a point, post a direct link on a site that doesn't require us to sign up.
Allright, sorry about the registration thing.
But I will lask you, why is it you "forgot" to mention that luxrender now has gpu rendering? You have not provided any proof at all that Octane is faster. I would recommend to the OP that he talk to the people on the luxrender forum to get a better idea about how fast it is now.
I find it hard to beleive that Firefly is faster than luxrender with smallluxgpu. I would take that statement with a big grain of salt.
