Thread: Totally confused.... how can this be? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I don't have an answer for all your Problems but part of your post is familiar.
When I was using a Vista machine I found a file hidden away which duplicated my entire megagigs of Content.
I contacted SmithMicro and a wizard there informed me that Windows Vista "Saved" a copy of any 3rd Party content loaded into the same drive as your Poser Software. The solution is to store any non-Poser Content into an external drive. This cured my Problem but you cannot delete this hidden file. I'm using W7 and the 'hidden' file is a SXS Format. Apparently W8 also does this. I have found out, when deleting a whole bunch of not so good renders and their Poser files, that you can then delete these out of the hidden file cos they're not linked to anything on your Poser drive any more. BTW, I highly recommend SmithMicro's help department ! I've contacted them three times in the past and in all cases their first answer cured my Problem(s).
Thread: Helping Poser Newbies | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Plenty of good advice up there. I may not be a noobie, having started with Poser 3, but I sure ain't an expert either.
I wish someone had long ago hinted that before I've downloaded around 20 - 30 Gigs of Content I should make sure where the textures disappear to (like that guy's socks in another Forum) because often, too often, a dress Zip file may be called Ziggies V4 Dress and the texture itself is called Uncle Charlie's Sexy V4 dress.
I now run an Excel spreadsheet with all names and all LOCATIONS of stuff I download. This may be overkill but it works. Like I say, an expert I ain't so there is bound to be a simpler way to find your several-year-old dress tex the next time you'd like to modify it.
Thread: Poser screen resolution too small | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
A lot of sensible comments above. I have an HD 1920x1080 48 inch monitor and I can tell you that I will NEVER EVER use anything smaller. My Work Window is 1200 x 900 for 4:3 images and there is still room for Libraries and Properties.
Perhaps I should mention that my work window covers all on-screen controls, because I work exclusively with Morph dials.
In Central Europe at least, you can get a good HD monitor for less that 200 bucks.
