Thread: video card and rendering | Forum: Vue
G'Day. I just finished building a new PC, using the Asus P4PE motherboard, Gainward Geforce powerback video card(using Nvidia TI4600, GFORCE4 chip), software is lightwave 7.5, Bryce, photoshop7,Vue, brilliant on all apps, more 2700DDR ram the better, but a damn good card 3 months in use and no problems, no games, just modelling and texture building.good luck

My two cents worth, for creating an image , expecially for print purposes, have been going to 4096 x 3072 (print is 36 x 24 inches, 90 x 60 cm), rendered at ultra max settings took 24 hrs, 4.5mill polys, lots of shadows of grass, leaves etc. and high res textures on trees, bark and leaves, no obvious grain, as mentioned above, higher quality results higher output (for sure worth it), PC dependent though on time.

G'Day, just finished building a Win2K system, with a Gainward Ultra/750X card using Nvidia 4, TI4600, works just great, no crashes, on a Asus P4PE board, dual Monitor support, also ran on Win98 no prob. Price varies $240US-$350, check www.pricewatch.com.

Can we pick multiples?, anyway number 17 for the richnes of colours, textures, and a close feeling. All are very good and hard to select just one. congrats to all. Gary
Thread: Cannot Render to disk. Any suggestions? | Forum: Vue
I was having problems , same error message using upto Version 4.03, (then Version 4.05 fixed this), I have also downloaded 4.1 at work on NT, and Win2000 pc's and all works okay with rendering to disk. Will change my home pc to 4.1 as well, as seems more error free), ood luck Gary.
Thread: 4.06 update not good for me, how did (or is) 4.05 working for everybody? | Forum: Vue
Well just tried getting to 4.06 on different machines. Stand alone Win98, SE, installed 4.00, updated direct to 4.06, still having same error writing file on alpha planes, even to the vue/picture folder, nothing else on this pc except window/photoshop and vue, 40GB drive. Non network Win2000 pro, installed 4.00, updated to 4.06 direct, same issues, multi drive machines, other software, space no problems, all microsoft patches applied by network, no other issues, can not save alpha's. Reinstalled 4.0 again cleanly, updated each upgrade, got to 4.06, same issue this on both machines, each had a fresh download of the 4.06 upgrade, however noticed that one download was 9.147MB, the other was 9.1469mb, on T1 lines, ??, possible download issues, tried again and got 9.147 twice, same alpha save problem. Sorry folks, but am gonna stay at 4.05, does all that I need with the only occassional "vue not responding issue" when rednering to screen, can manage with that. Also tried using just the render options directly without right-mouse on the picure-icon, same issue. Gary.

Sorry to mention, I did try that option as well, deleted every VUE folder, registry enties, defraged disks, so as not to re-install over older deleted file space, installed 4.00 again, then upgraded direct to 4.06, however when attempting to use the right mouse on render options, the new opened panel, would be completly illegible, black characters all over the place, options could not be seen, tried this on win98 SE machine, win 200 pro, and NT, same problem. Will watch the forum, may even try it again at work, thanks again Guitta. Gary
