If you're working on a still scene you'll have to use the cat girl gloves and finish off in portwork. If it was a movie that you watched they have animators mega bucks, mega machines and whole server farms to work on the rendering and people who do nothing BUT create new figures for their projects.
Thread: Where are the dynamics? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Doesn't matter whether it's dynamic or not, if there's a log of hair it will render slowly. Try rendering the fuzzy version of the bedtime sets plush bear. Look at it this way to get really nice looking hair you need to have about 14,000 - 20,000 hairs. Much more than that and Poser will choke. Each hair casts a shadow. I think you get where I'm going with this.

Unless you're experienced enough to create your own cat clawed figure or draw and paint them in in postwork you're out of luck. I can't think of a figure that ever had cqat claw morphs. What made you look for them?

Anyone who thinks that conforming clothing is less work than dynqmic obviously hasn't tried to pose a girl in a long dress in a feet up seated possition on a sofa! It's a snap with dynamics but trying to get the dress between the sofa and the girl is more than a pain with a conforming dress.

SOP should be load whichever figure you're planning on using, load any morphs required then load character. Easier with DAZ version 3 characters since the figures load with the morphs already there.

Thread: Poser vs DS | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Oh, one more thing. The ability to see the view through lights actually works in DS. Although it's supposed to be there in Poser every time I've tried that Poser has abended. :(
Thread: Importing Objects | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Isn't it easier to go the other way around? Bryce has a button near the top to allow you to open DAZ Studio from within Bryce. When you exit DAZ studio after setting up figures and props if you've opened it that way it automatically exports them to Bryce. It exports the whole scene as it is in DAZ not just single objects.
Thread: DS2 content to DS3 | Forum: DAZ|Studio
I have Poser 7, DAZ Studio 2.3 and DAZ Studio 3 pro all accessing the DAZ Studio 2.3 content runtime. No need to move anything just go to edit preferences directorys and add the old content directory to DAZ V3 as a Poser format import directory.
Thread: General Question about using same content in DAZ Studio and Poser | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Create a directory with a name such as D:external runtimeruntime. The first level of the directory structure can be named anything you want that will let you know what's in it. Once you have an empty runtime directory you can go about installing things as normal into it.
When you're ready for Poser to access it go to the top level in Posers library structure (Poser by default creates a runtime and a downloads/runtime so those two base folders should be showing ). Hit the +button at the very bottom of the tab marked categorys and then select the new runtime directory to add it into the Poser library.
For DS on the edit menu there's an item called preferences. Click that and then go to directories. There's a selection for content type, select Poser Format Import then press the add button. You can then select your new runtime directory form the directorys on your disks. As mentioned this should be the directory one level up from runtime so in my example you would select D:external runtime.
Thread: ABSOLUTE newbie.... help please! | Forum: DAZ|Studio
As the people at E-frontier found out they shouldn't be using relative paths anyways since there are no ambiguitys in a full path name. It can really botch things up if a file gets exported with path name. You should have seen the mess it casused when Poser went to full path names from relative ones.
I tried telling it that that library was a Poser library but it didn't seem to take. I ended up with a mess of entrys none of which are useful instead of what I told it. I think I'll load the new update and try once again. Could be that it's something as simple as a missed mouse click.

Hope you don't mind me borrowing your thread.
Similar and related problem. I've been at this most of 2 years now and as such have a good grasp of the librarys and structure but have run into something that's both frustrating and puzzling. I have DAZ/Studio 3 accessing the Poser 7/runtime without any problems but it doesn't seem to want to access the Poser 7/downloads library. I have it now just accessing Poser 7/runtime and the DAZ content but can't get the downloads library to show up.
And you thought that it was only newbies that got confused over this! ;)

Hey! What about the skiers and golfers. They're paying thousands of dollars for equipement plus lift fees or greens fees. Hobbys cost money. You could play hockey and pay as much as $800 for a single glove. ;)
Poser more stable? Hate to disagree but it always takes 6 or 7 trys to get a scene reloaded into Poser due to Poser 7 abending without message. Poser has serious issues with Vista! DAZ is a much more stable program on that platform. I don't think DAZ/Studio v3 has abended yet. I won't be buying Poser 8 until I know that it's much, much more stable.
I've tried a number of 3D programs and I seem to love each for what it does best. I prefer the render engine in Poser to that in DAZ/studio. It's slower but I like the results. That being said the best program I've found for rendering isn't either. It's Carrara but is that ever SLOW.
To save you both time and money I think you should stick with DAZ/Studio until you've built up both a good working knowledge of the program and process and a passable library of people, characters props etc. Give yourself time to figure out what you like and dislike in DAZ/Studio before trying out something new. I've found very few items that work in Poser that won't work in DAZ/Studio. (Miki 2. has a serious elbow problem in DAZ)
This is only a suggestion but I think your money would be better spent at the moment on buying a good book or books on photography. More specifically ones that go heavilly into lighting. Creating 3D scenes has a lot in common with photography and lighting is probably the biggest challenge in any scene.

Thankk you all for your comments they were much more useful than anything I got directly from Adobe.
