Welcome back Kaom! Congratulations on finding your dream job. Upgrading to Carrara 3 is well worth the price and if your boss is paying for it get a few of the plugins as well. Keith
Thread: Import Illustrator Paths into Cararra 2? | Forum: Carrara
It sounds like you are trying to import an AI file into something other than the spline modeler. The spline modeler will allow you to import only ai, ai3 and eps files. Keith
Thread: Carrara 1.1 issues | Forum: Carrara
Creating vertex objects from spline objects does creates a lot of unwanted artifacts. To clean up a vertex model I found that selecting small segments of the vertex object and welding it using a small tolerance will work. I've tried selecting the whole object but it usually crashes Carrara. The vertex modeler has a pretty steep learning curve but it is well worth the effort. Version 1.1 is just fixes the major bugs in version 1.0 which should have never been released. Carrara 2 is vastly superior to 1.1. And if you can afford it Version 3 is the way to go.

I not satisfied with eovia's explanation blaming the box manufacturer for the problem. When you set a release date you better have someone seeing that everything is coming together as planned. As soon as they had an inkling there was a problem they should have extended the life of the beta software. It is one thing to be disapointed because the final version will be delayed and another to have you are using software expire on you.

To make matters worse the model I've been working on in Carrara 3 beta won't open in 2.1. I suppose I'll have to download the Demo version. My Carrara 3 better get here soon. I'm going to think twice before a I ever preorder a software program again.
Thread: Has anyone actually received their C3 yet? | Forum: Carrara
I received an Email from Eovia on Monday, September 22, saying the scheduled delivery date was Friday, September 26. I checked the UPS site to track the shippment and find this disclaimer and no tracking information. "the package information below has been transmitted to UPS. The package(s) may not have actually been placed with UPS for shipment." Here it is Monday, September 29, and still no software or tracking information. I've Emailed Eovia and I'm waiting for a reply.

Here is an example. A poor one, but it was the first image I could find

Thanks nomuse, I found the problem. I tried OpenGL and still no go. I then saw Eovia Software option and tried that. Viola! that did the trick. I agree, the backdrop feature should be in all the modelers. BTW I'm running Windows 98 on a PC. Here is an image of a character I'm working on. Just wanted to show it off. I think it turned out pretty well. Thanks again Keith

Nicely Done Jenifer. You handled the interview very well. Does Renderosity have an official spokesperson? If not, I nominate you. Keith

Jasen, The link on the banner must have been taken down. You can find the contest entries in the "Back Room" under "Archived Carrara/RDS Contests." Keith
Thread: knife functionality in vertex modeler | Forum: Carrara
To subdivide a cylinder verticaly I would select and move the top edge down half way and the extrude to the height you want. If the area you want to subdivide is between other sections you have to select the area, detach it and then delete it. This will leave a gap in your mesh. To fill the gap extrude up half way and then loft to fill and close the rest of the gap. Keith
