Thread: Can you suggest a low end 3D program? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have not had a lot of luck so far. None of the three apps is really free but just offer a limited free trial period, and that's fair enough if the app is good.
The downloaded wings contained malware, which Kasperski caught, so I deleted it.
imagine3d.org/modules/wfdownloads; URL not found; incomprehensible main site; says it allows filetypes pdf, avi, lha, lzh, zip but no mention of obj. files.
hexagon -- I installed this; demo only; hopeless readme; I simply can't figure how to import or open OBJ files, my main purpose. Otherwise it looks fairly straightforward.
I'll look into Carrara, tough I know it does far more than I need, andf into the list of 25 dr. geep suggested (thanks for that)..

Thank you so much, everybody. I have much to go on now, so enough already, but again thanks.

More ideas. Many thanks.
Bill, I meant simple, not necessarily free. I'm sick and tired of baroque apps.

Thread: Poper 4 friezes when a texture file is missing | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thank you very much; I've copied out your advice. I can readily fake the missing file. Still, there must be a fault somewhere and I was wondering what it is.
Thread: Exact duplicate of P4 progran not responding similarly | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
CORRECTION – and apologies. I am the stupid one. P4 was not running in XP compatibilty after copying. Compatibility was dropped in the process. What could not possibly have happened did not happen, All is well. Thanks for the responses.
Thread: What;'s wrong with Daz -- incommunicado? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
OK, thanks for all the comments. Now let's broom away the red herrings and put this issue to bed:
My Poser 4 with updates is as robust as any later version (some of which I have tried and dislike). It handles DAZ downloads just fine, once they are installed properly.
Proper installation involves "de-nesting" the active folder in Libraries. It shouldn't be difficult to simply say so.
However, my complaint wasn't about Poser-anything or compatibility but about a bad business; about a company that is so inaccessible I suspected it might have gone belly up.

Thank you. Not really good enough. The Daz page? I already have a ticket. I wasn't asking for support on Poser 4 (the best version ever) and Poser 4 was never mentioned by me. I wanted advice on download installation. As it happens I have since solved the problem myself: the active folder has to be manually removed from an outer one within Library and then all is fine -- Poser 4 notwithstanding. Nobody told me this. I am incensed at Daz's inconstencies and inaccessibity, which have nothing to do with my Poser program. Daz's performance in this instance is neither busnesslike nor minimally courteous and appears to reflect the sloppiness that can come from having an automated website onto with you can deflect your bothersome customers. Thank you all for your thoughts.

Thank you. Noted. However, that doesn't explain the inconsistent messages or lack of a less-than high-tech telephone answering device.
Thread: CAMERA CONTROLS OUT OF CONTROL | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I must have lost a file, and resolved this problem by copying everything from another computer. All is now well. Moral, not exactly original, but: always back up.

Thanks, but I don't know wether I understood you. I pressed the Spacebar both before and during loading an object, to no avail.
