there is no star feild beyond the nebula and there aren't really any nearby suns. Im trying to play with a number of variations to figure out what is best. and they definitly need to make the volumetrics better in 6.0 thanks for the input. ill post an update later in a seperate thread showing the various possibilities i have come up with. thanks
Thread: volumetric light not working on sci fi challenge WIP | Forum: Bryce
Turning off infinite light makes it so the visible light is only where the actual light object is vs. wherever it projects.
and i did a test and the light does in fact go right through anything that is infront of it.
after more playing i think i finally decided what is wrong... im using the sun and there is no main sun in space. so i took out the sun and put the light back to the way i had it at the beggining. Now the light works perfectly but the spaceships are quite dark so i just need to add more droids and some globe lights.

I just tried that myself. You can only save previously imported meshes to the other file types by that method. There is zero way to export objects made from bryce primitives. Atleast that is my understanding

if you are going to use terrains for non commercial use... try terragen... its free... and you can export the terrains as lightwave object and import them into bryce

well there is this other not plugin but program that makes bryce terrains... but its only for mac... and i use a PC :( so... yep. anyhow... its the link above if you wanna look at it.Thread: Terrain Tiling | Forum: Bryce
i am also having some problems with that... the terrains dont match up exactly. one side is slightly different from the other so there is a crack.
Thread: How do i create or made realistic terrains in bryce?! | Forum: Bryce

well there is a lot to know about making realistic terrains. the first thing to do is get aquainted with the terrain editor. This means just messing around and seeing what everything dose. especially try out all the different fractals. the link above links to some tips & tricks about the terrain editor that are "hidden". the next part about making realistic terrains is the texturing. there is an extremely good tutorial on that here: http://www.bryceanworlds.com/pages/tips_tricks.html that is an extremely helpful tutorial. and the key to making realistic anything is ultimately practice. if you dont like the terrain editor so much and you happen to be using a mac then look at this alternet program: http://www.bsmooth.de i unfortunatly do not use a mac so i have not had the pleasure of using this program but from the looks of it.. id say its pretty cool. hope that was helpful -paulThread: FREE - 3 new bryce objects : ) | Forum: Bryce
ok fixed it. I dont know why that was happening so i just made a webpage for it and people can right click -> save target as from there. Maybe i will find out the problem later...and ask some of my web master wizard buddies.
Thread: FREE - 3 new bryce objects : ) | Forum: Bryce
um... maybe try right click -> save target as... i just tried the normal way myself and got what you did.

oh by the way... incase it wasn't implied... the objects are in the free stuff section at renderosity... not on my website

hmmm... how bout putting a crack down the middle... and having a few little yellow eyes peering out. like mice... only evil
Thread: peculiar numbers | Forum: Bryce
hmmm... very interesting... this certainly does give me new insight into brycean units of measure. But i think the question still remains as to why infact they chose 20.48 instead of say 21.87 (a power of 3 divided by 100). personally, had i been the on making bryce... i would have the default size be 10X10X10. makes more sense to me. oh well
