Quote - Thank you for the heads up pzrite..appreciated.
Your welcome.
And SteveJax, I did not know of any problems, I don't spend my life in the forums. And what you call "whining all over the Internet", I call trying to be helpful to my fellow Poser artists at Renderosity, who may not have read the Daz forums either. What's with that attitude? I don't even know you, never spoke with you before, are you always like this?
Thread: WARNING ABOUT PURCHASING AT DAZ STORE! Sunday 5/29/11 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - Don't make purchases on 3Day holiday weekends.
As I told you in the DAZ forum, it's quite easy for you to say this is no big deal, and I find your holier-than-thou attitude the last thing I need to hear when I am not able to pay my bills because of this problem.
You stated in your other post that you don't understand why people are panicking about this. So I'll tell you again, it's okay for you if you have lots of money and this might seem like a minor inconvenience, but I'm not the only one that had a whole lot of money mistakenly taken out of their checking accounts. One guy said he doesn't have any money now for the holiday weekend, his plans were ruined by this "mistake".
So, if you don't have any sympathy for all those people that have been "inconvenienced" (at the very least) or stuck somewhere without any money (at the very worse) then shut up!
You are just pouring salt on an open wound!
Thread: Hair Question: From Ponytail to free falling hair | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks again everyone for the suggestions.
And thank you Kalypso, the Bandua hair was exactly what I was looking for. It even matches the styles I had been previously using for my character (using two different hair models), but now I can make the changes gradual AND without having to change hair figures.
Funny thing is, I had already purchased this product a while back and totally forgot I had it. I guess I bought and downloaded it without ever trying it out. I do that sometimes.
Anyway, thanks again, I appreciate your help.

tebop, from the time I posted my first suggestion about placing a personal ad (in my opinion the easiest way to meet women with similar interests) you could have already placed the ad, been communicating with at least several women, and perhaps been on your first or second date by now.
Personal ads and reputable online dating sites are a no-brainer. Submit your picture, tell a little about yourself, while at the same time respond to other ads that are of interest to you. It is so easy once you are willing to put yourself out there. If I could do it, anyone can.
Now I'm stuck with a wife and kids, so be careful what you wish for. (just kidding)

Acadia, I think it's great that you took the time for such a caring and detailed post, but as with my post (on the other thread) I spent about as much time and basically covered the same ground that you did. When I received absolutely no response from the OP I knew I had wasted my time and effort.
Because I know if I put myself in his place and asked for this kind of help from an online community, I would be very appreciative of the advice and comments given to me, and I would have AT LEAST said "Thank you, I'll give it a try" or "Thank you, that doesn't seem right for me". But as I said before, the OP continues in his self-absorbed comments, repeating the same things over and over again as if he didn't even read any of the suggestions.
I think this person is greatly enjoying all the attention he is getting, but if he truly wanted to pursue his goals on meeting a woman he would have been more recipricative in his responses.
Bottom line, IMHO, there is no reason to spend any more time or energy in helping this person unless we get some sort of response to our suggestions and questions. And the lack of responses to specific questions would leave me to believe either we're dealing with a troll or someone that is just wanting some attention and is not seriously interested in our responses.

Quote - > Quote - Troll Class system by Pzrite (aka Leee)...
Not too bad a summary, see also -> The Field Guide to Trolls
Thanks for the link. That information is kind of along the same lines that I was going for, only a LOT more detailed and descriptive. But then again, I did just create my "Class System" off the top of my head. ;-)
Wikipedia did not have nearly as much information as The Field Guide, and I wanted to add my Class System to it, but that topic has been locked due to excessive vandalism by trolls. Oh the irony!

Troll Class system by Pzrite (aka Leee)
Troll (First Class) - a person who posts outlandish and/or mean-spirited messages for the sole purpose of causing anger among the other posters, consequently drawing a large amount of attention to him/herself, which is usually the root reason for trolling. This type of troll will very rarely respond directly to logical discussion of the topic at hand.
[Example: Hitler's greatest mistake was he didn't finish the job]
Troll (Second Class) - a person who will post slightly more logical and tame comments than the First Class troll. Even though it may seem this person has valid opinions for the topic at hand, they are still meant to draw attention, create anger and controversy. This person will sometimes respond to comments, but only to further inflame the discussion.
[Example: I don't think we went to the moon because.....]
Troll (Third Class) - a person considered to be borderline troll. While this person will not necessarily post inflammatory comments, they are still meant to illicit a response/reaction/attention to the poster. While some Third Class Trolls are genuine in their beliefs or statements, they don't always directly answer the responses or if they do, they will continue along the same self-absorbed path, disregarding the replies posted to him. Third Class Trolls are also capable of posting "normal" messages within a forum that do not seek attention for merely attention's sake.
[Example: I can't seem to find a girlfriend, can someone tell me what to do?]
Note: This classification system has not been authorized or sanctioned by the IITS (International Institute of Troll Studies) it is merely for educational and/or entertainment purposes only.*

Quote - The textures should match the uv map for a specific figure. For example an M3 texture will not work on M4 because of the map differences. You will have to work out what textures go with what figure.
Unless of course you use the Heisenberg Compensator, which lets you do some marvelous things, including beaming figures at high warp.

tebop, I really think (and I mean this with all sincerity) that you need to get off the computer and Internet for awhile, get out of the house, and just live! Weren't you the one complaining about not having a girlfriend? Well you're not going to find one in this forum, especially the way you keep putting yourself down.
It's quite obvious you have a need for attention, you are probably lonely, but cyber friends are just a poor excuse for not living life to it's fullest. Get out there. Take some pictures, go to a museum, join a local group with similar interests. Nothing beats face to face social interaction.
What is your current situation? Do you live alone, with family, roomates? If you are stuck for answers I suggest seeking professional help, posting your personal problems in a Poser forum is not going to make things better....for anybody!
Thread: OT: How exactly do you get a GF when you're old and unexperienced? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - > Quote - Hmmmm - just ran "tebop" and "JosterD" through matmatic and got "troll". Wow, what script! Who would-a thunk?
If never posting a helpful answer to the forums and posting nothing but butt-stupid OT questions with pathetic subject lines that they never participate in again is a troll...
Are you telling me I wasted all that time and effort in writing out my response to help this guy and he's just jerking us off (so to speak)?
Oh well, Anyway, while we're on the subject, I learned a long time ago a really great line to say in the face of rejection (if you ask a woman out and they say no). This guy I used to work with, thought he was God's gift to women, would be constantly asking women out and almost always getting rejected, and his "save" line would be, "Just thought I'd ask."
That always stuck with me, because it's a great exit line for rejection. It kind of says, okay no big deal, see ya. But of course I never got a chance to use it before I got married.
Thread: Debate Daz Studio vs poser ..Legally | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
For me the biggest advantage of DS over Poser is (IMHO) it is much easier to pose figures in DS than Poser. And that is one of the biggest hair-pulling frustrations of dealing with these types of programs, getting the figure posed correctly, right down to the fingers and toes. When DS came along with it's various new ways of posing, I thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. And I've been using Daz Studio ever since.
I still fire up Poser once in awhile for exporting scenes into Vue. Which happens to be one of the big negatives with DS, it doesn't play well with other software. So it's kind of a toss up for me.

I haven't been around here much lately, but decided to drop by and see what's new. And I saw this thread and thought, finally...something I'm somewhat of an expert on. I'm not an expert on women, but I know a lot about ways for shy men to meet them.
As it already has been discussed, the personal ads either in your local paper or a REPUTABLE online site is the best way to go. Contrary to what one person says they are NOT filled with hookers, unless you're looking at Craig's List or something sleazy like that.
I'm 48, been married for 14 years, but for over 10 years before that I did a LOT of dating through the personal ads. First in New Jersey through The Bergen Record, and then when I moved to Seattle through The Eastside Weekly (which is how I met my wife)
I've never been the sort to do the bar scene, I've never had enough nerve to go up to a woman and buy her a drink. I'm not the greatest looking guy in the world, but I have a decent personality and I knew that my looks (first impression) would not always get me to the conversation stage and I would be set up for lots of rejection.
So, the personal ads. The great thing about doing personal ads is that you can post your picture, see pictures of women, and you know what each other looks like before you even meet. So I know if a woman agreed to meet me, after seeing my picture, I am past the first major hurdle. And in turn, I can also see what she looks like as well, and while I do have some standards as far as looks, I don't really care or want the "model type" of woman.
And through the personal ads, you can also filter out the types of people that don't fit your personality. You can be very specific or as general as you want. Although most people share a love of humor, good movies and romance, you can find people that have your specific type of humor, likes sci-fi movies or other specifc types of things.
And my last word of advice, is you have to have a LOT of patience. I did the dating scene for 10 YEARS before I found the woman I married. I dated many many dozens of women. Some for a few months, but mostly they were just one time dates. Either she didn't like me or I didn't like her. In New Jersey I dated a woman for almost a year and we were talking about getting married, but in the end it didn't work out. So you have to expect to go on a lot of dates, which is okay because you get to kind of "practice" on the ones that don't stick. One of my nervous habits when meeting someone for dinner was I was constantly fiddling with the silverware. A habit I broke myself of after a couple of women asked if I made them nervous.
So it goes something like this: either place an ad or respond to one. Correspond with each other (mail, email, phone) for a while. Move on to the date. It could be lunch, dinner or just drinks. Don't go to a movie on the first date because you need a chance to talk to each other. And definitely DO NOT tell them your sob stories. Don't talk about yourself exclusively, let her talk and at least try to act like you're interested in what she is saying.
Some guys will disagree, but don't expect to "get lucky" on the first date. Especially through dating ads. There's a lot of weirdos out there (both men and women) Ah, the stories I could tell! I actually wrote a song about my dating experiences called, "Mabel Plastic: Profession Freeze Queen from Hell" Anyway, you have to get comfortable with each other first. Women especially need to know you are not a whacko before they invite you home.
I hope that helps. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Thread: Illusion Mage = Blender? | Forum: Blender
Well I found this on the Blender Website:
The companies IllusionMage and 3Dmagix resell via their websites Blender under their own name. Both websites are probably managed by the same person or company.
On their web pages they intentionally hide that the products are distributions of GNU GPL licensed software, and that the software is freely downloadable as well. More-over, even after contacting them several times, they don't remove copyrighted content from their websites. A lot of text and images have been copied from blender.org and random images - not even from blender - were copied from various CG websites.
Rebranding and re-distributing GNU GPL software is a key right. This doesn't give the right to then also rebrand the credits, claims and artwork as created with Blender.
The sad thing is especially that people are being lured in with the suggestion that this is a cracked version Autodesk 3D Max. Their customers probably feel too ashamed after purchasing this product to complain really...
But what can we do? Not much really... lawyers will be a waste of money on this. Best is as usual to just publicize this well. "Sunlight is the best disinfectant" as a U.S. Supreme Court judge once said.

Thread: (Sort of OT) Is there something wrong with Renderosity? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
No error messages at all, it's just like trying to download a web page using an old 14.4k modem. But since yesterday eveything now seems back to normal, including the marketplace. All the graphics load almost instantly (as they should) as opposed to one graphic element, slowly, at a time.
One thing that I forgot to try (which I will the next time this happens) is to do a "ping test" and see if I can figure out where it's getting slowed down.
