Eeeeeeeeexcellent!!!!!! Thank you so much. This is a big help. A quick search yielded the original transform plus one other mod. Now...if I could just blend the edges so the sharp lines wouldn't be so distinct. Thoughts, anyone?

One way to throw a wrinkle into this situation would be to make the gallery thumbnails anonymous, like you might see at DeviantArt:

I would recommend just starting with Apophysis 2.02, then as you become more familiar with the program you will understand more about the other programs and about using the add-ons and freebies.
There are some good tutorials around to get you started.
From the Fractal Forum homepage:

Another list of good tutorials:

The above link is also a good forum for Apophysis help. I get the impression that the folks there are primarily Apo users and they are very nice and quick to help you with any questions you might have.
And as you look at the fractal gallery and see work done in Apophysis that you like, PM the artist. Most are pretty helpful with how they do what they do.

"About that giant popularity contest... I, once again, became frustrated with that game" <<<
Whether people like to admit it or not, it is a game. Not getting many comments on your images? You will if you comment on every image in the gallery for a few days before you post your image. Try it, you'll see the comments on your images increase exponentially to the number of comments that you post. If you comment on EVERY image in the gallery for four days in a row, you can pretty much post a picture of your shoe and get "Stunning"...and "Excellent"...lol!
And that is as it should be, it is a community after all. But it is also very easy to get caught up in the game and post for the comments, and if you don't get many you're all depressed.
I say it does a person good to not post for a week.
I also say you should create images that YOU like. If others do also, good, but if not...hey, YOU liked it. I do agree with Timbuk2 that comments can be a barometer of the appeal of your work, but if you are living for the comments then you should consider going outside once in a while...take a walk or something. =^}
Just my 1.75 cents...
Thread: FAvorite program? | Forum: Fractals
I agree with Monica. Spend some time in the fractal gallery and see what program is being used to make the kind of images that you like.

My immediate thought is that it could be a cookie problem. I'd say delete your cookies, log in again and see if that helps...

Ok...let me tell you about a little experiment my brother and I did. He is a Terragen artist, and I mean artist...excellent work. I thought my little fractals were cool as well, so just for fun, we took ten of his images and ten of mine, printed 8x10's and put them in a notebook. I took mine to my workplace, and he did as well. Folks would look at my fractals and go, "Umm...that's cool." Like they couldn't think of anything else to say about them. Looking at the Terragen images it was all, "OOOOO...AHHHH...THAT'S SO FINE!!!" Same experience in both places. Soooo...I think you either have a thing (bordering on obsession) for fractals, or they do absolutely nothing for you. So I personally think the audience for fractal art would be rather miniscule. Just my two cents...
