Thread: Medieval Clothes? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The only dress I know of is Wynter's Uthena dress, which I believe is still in the freestuff. She also has a Period dress at Daz3D which can be textured and transmapped to give a variety of styles. Anton Kisiel at BBay makes some "adventurer pants" which can be used as hose or leggings. PhilC makes some tremendous armour for knights and even their horses. I have to say, though, that this is an area where I wish someone would step in and supply the gaping deficiencies of inventory. The High Middle Ages and Renaissance have some amazing styles which could provide a lot of work for skilled texture artists too. With so many people in love with fantasy art especially, I think mediaeval and renaissance styles would come in handy. We have several fine artists with the skills to make the clothes. Maybe they just need to know that there is a demand. Cheers, Kimberly

I should have paid more attention to that creature pack at DAZ3D!!! I still cannot believe how awesome this picture is. You really outdid yourself, Balaan. I can hardly wait to see the updates on this WIP.

Eerie...a very powerful vision of the Medusa. This is not a criticism, but did you experiment to see how she would look with a more human face? (I mean, possibly blending the snakeskin with a more human flesh on the facial area. Sort of a mix of beauty and savagery, which could be even more evil...especially with those incredible eyes you gave her!) Still, your interpretation of her is superb. You could leave it just like it is and it would be great. :) Are the snakes on her head poseable?

Let me second the praise of Traveler. The wig is superb. And thank you, Lady Luna, for having asked Trav to craft it for us. Gorgeous, gorgeous work. It made my whole Saturday to see it at BBay :)

A tutorial about morphs for clothing would be utterly wonderful, Traveler. And as I have said before, without your morphs, Poser would be only half a program for most of us.

By the way, you and Gloria have done a superb job of showing the drape of the actual dress over the rigid sub-structure of the hoop-skirt. It looks very real. I can almost see that skirt swinging like a bell when our two sisters walk!

I have to agree with BlueRain. I have been an amateur costume historian for years, seeking out examples of period dresses from the 16th-19th centuries for the most part, and what I miss more than anything is the sense of aesthetics...of beauty. No one can deny that there is going to be discomfort in wearing a heavily boned corset and layers and layers of crinoline. But, oh, what utter delight in the whole art of fashion when its design is to make the wearer beautiful, rather than just "in style." Serge, I await each and every one of your designs with great anticipation, and am never disappointed with your artistry. It is such a pleasure to know there are others out there who can appreciate the pre-Industrial ideal of femininity. Cheers, and thank you for the beautiful dress! Kimberly

Duane, you are absolutely right, and there is a big difference when you compare the two. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Now maybe all of our characters will not have to look like they are wearing fake eyelashes from the 60s.

Ingrid, it's beautiful, and worth any amount of trouble to use properly. Thanks for looking after us so well :)

Gorgeous. Thank God Vicky has people who care enough to turn her into a Beauty instead of the Beast she was when we first got her. She no longer looks like a steroid experiment gone wrong. Simply beautiful, Michael.
