"Bit up her own arse really" lol! That's the last time you'll be getting anything past the judges! :))))

Quote: Ms. Dundas: "I don't have any information about any updates planned at the moment...there are currently no updates in the pipeline at the moment." So, she does have information then? I... see... Ms Dumbass went on to say "Yes, we will be releasing Bryce 6 although we will not be releasing Bryce 6, and we will continue to develop the product without actually developing the product in any way," Then she attempted to convince the interviewer that black was white and disappeared up her own arse.

"Also, we had to deal with some clone voting." That's pretty sad, but funny as well, that people really do this. It makes me cringe to think about it :) Reminds me that earlier this week - on another art site - I was waiting for one of my pics to get just one more decent vote for it to get into the top 100. I mentioned it to a mate and he said "No probs, I'll register on the site and give it a 5". I said "You won't, 'cos if you do, I'll delete the image!" I think he thought I was crazy, but I'd rather come last than cheat.

"As for screennames..." I just went for my real name on Epilogue - boring or what? :) Isn't Socar Myles one of the judges there?

"At epilogue, your ranking in the community is simply determined by the number of gallery views." So... if I don't post anything for a month, do I then rank last for that month? I just thought it was strange. I only joined recently, then uploaded a pic that went from rank 13,200 to 3 overnight, then down to 40. Very odd! The big drawback on epilogue I think, is that if you're called Annie Aardvark or ZeeZee Zephyr then you'll get dozens of times more views than everyone else because two of the three gallery ordering options are by first and last name!!! :) (the third being join date).

"I am a member at epilogue.net ... They also don't have a rating system." That's true, though they have a baffling graph-type thing and ranks of names with chevrons that so far I can't find any explanation for! :) But I agree, the rating system here is so pointless it should be scrapped. I'm all for ratings for people that want to use them, but it's been so nicey-ised (great word!) here that it's no longer of any value. But have you seen the rating systems on sites like GFXArtist? Absolutely impenetrable. What does it mean? What's wrong with 0 to 100? Even digitalart, which uses a simple ranking process, has decided on 1 to 5 in steps of 0.5! Why? What about 1.3 to 4.32 in steps of 0.2836? Madness! :)

I like it. Marc Vestabule would be proud! What about putting Billingate in the background? :) For a long time the Gap books were the best sci-fi I'd read, until I chanced upon Peter F Hamilton's Reality Disfunction trilogy (The Reality Disfunction, The Neutronium Alchemist, The Naked God). If you've never read them you really need to - completely astonishing, a mix of ultra hard-core sci-fi and primal horror. I read all 3,000+ pages in 2 weeks, then read them again!
Thread: bah, renderosity logo contest winner announced | Forum: Bryce
I completely forgot about this contest. I was even going to enter - my memory is total crap. I like the winning entry, it's very well done. Now the site needs to be redesigned to match!
Thread: OT - If you missed hobbits latest...LOOK | Forum: Bryce
I notice he has a new one on digitalart that I've never seen before, and some on epilogue.net. If you like hobbit's type of stuff and you've never seen epilogue check it out, there's loads of good painterly images there (and if you post there your art gets quite a few viewings too). 2D only though. On a vaguely similar note, I just posted in another forum with a link to Craig Mullins' site (www.goodbrush.com). I spent 3 hrs yesterday looking through all his stuff - just incredible. Far and away the best digital art I've ever seen.

You either need to clear your cache (doesn't always work, depending on your ISP cache settings) or enable "always check for updated pages" in your browser.
Thread: Portfolio Needed...And I Need Your Help!!!! :-0 | Forum: Bryce
Yeah, that's a good idea (Graviton) if the person viewing doesn't mind CD. And if you can program Flash (it's easy) you can create a simple interface that organises your work - without worrying about bandwidth and dial-up restrictions like on the web!
Thread: Portfolio Needed...And I Need Your Help!!!! :-0 | Forum: Bryce
My advice would be to compile the best portfolio you can manage. It depends what artwork formats you have, but if it's for a job I'd recommend you take a lot of time over it and spend a bit of money, too. I was told once that a designer's portfolio is their most important piece of kit, and money spent on it was money well spent. For f***s sake don't just print it out on Viking Budget paper and bung it in a 3 binder! I'd certainly look at pro binding and printing, because even a few hundred quid will be repaid quickly if it gets you a job. (Actually, someone suggested yesterday that I compile my own portfolio - at 34 years of age! Yeah, right! lol!)

...Or you could just buy the Bryce 3D from ebay currently (15, no bids) and pay 51 from Amazon for the upgrade...
