There is a thread in the poser forum where someone is trying to sculpt new models with the morph brush ...and. of course they look horrible.
Ahh. anything to avoid venturing outside of the comfort bubble.
Thread: Is it worth upgrading to Poser 12 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
but I do not think that it is a comfort bubble for the users to stay or use Poser and or Daz studio. Allot have huge collections of models, big investments, Years of work assembling a useful library .... Fully addicted on collecting these assets --->> they might not even use ! It is like a Drug . If one like you say jump out of there comfort bubble , how long would it take the one to rebuild the >collection made the past decades ?? 1 day 1 week 1 month >1 year or a whole Decade ??
Not advocating for Daz studio (They have banned me from their forums for "Advocating other softwares")
But it is not true that moving from poser to Daz studio, for Genesis access, requires a complete abandonment of your entire library of legacy poser content.
Any CR2 based figure or Stonemason set prop etc can be opened in Daz studio natively By simply adding your old legacy poser runtime. even figures as old as Poser4 "dork' and the Zygote "business man"( see pic)
That large majority of the poser user base, still clinging to Vicky4 ,would have little problems using her in Daz studio while they migrate to whatever generation of genesis 1,2,3,8.
However the Willdial script to import G3/8 into poser has very limited acceptance because it requires the use of Daz studio to export the figures and many here refuse to leave the poser comfort bubble long enough for a simple figure export and instead demand a poser native version of Genesis ...which will never happen.
Even Reallusions figure transformer tool ,in CC3 pipeline supports, V4/M4 import including textures and clothing, However you would have to make a substantial financial investment in the Iclone 3dxchange pipeline tool to salvage your props& stonemason sets etc.
But frankly people who move to Reallusion are migrating there for the powerful, realtime Character animation tools, not to re-create and render old poser scenes from the past.
Now yes....Moving to Blender or another 3DCC, requires a special plugin IMHO, and currently there are none for poser which is not surprising as the majority of poser user base can/will not learn Daz's Kiddie toy interface, to say nothing of Blender or Maya etc.

Blender had a UI overhaul at version 2.8
Poser had a cosmetic update with poser 8?

yeah mine the page before was the cause of that, it won't go there by default, threads don't bump and if mine was the last one the one before shows, it's pointless for me to post at all
yeah I dont bother trying to help people in the so called Blender forum as My posts just dissappear into thin air when I hit the post button
yet unsurprisingly I went to the store and loaded $140 of random items into my cart as a test and they are ready to check out. Obviously I have ZERO intention of buying a Daz item having been long libertated from their content hamster wheel by my modeling skills.
Clearly the forum mods are manually imposing a ban no matter the post content.

if you are used to the way you do things in Poser and refuse to learn something new and different. Which in the end means >refusing to accept more modern methods that >might do things in a fundamentally different way.
Quoted for complete agreement.
I understand the prevailing power of the "comfort bubble"
however whenever I see a poser user claim that the poser user interface is "Better than everything else" I know for certain that this person has never used any other program, certainly not a modern day one.
If I launch My old poser pro 2014 or Bryce 7, I feel like have been snatched back to the 1990,s where that Kai krause , kiddie toy, interface should have been left.
Sadly a complete overhaul of the Poser UI is probably less likely than native genesis support considering it would be tantamount to a complete $$core re-write of the application.$$
Thread: Blender vs. Maya: Which is better? | Forum: Blender
Blender has definitely opened up a whole new realm of creative possibilities to an entire generation of content creators or like-minded creative individuals who may have never otherwise had the financial means to access such advanced technology. That's probably the most important contribution ..... Maya might have been the only other software in CG animation that came close to being a household name simply because people have heard it being mentioned in the extra features on the DVD or Blue Ray of their favorite movie blockbusters, but I think Blender has >surpassed that in recent years.
I have been into 3D since the late 1990's starting with poser 2 and Bryce 2 I was still persuing my carreer as Graphic Designer for print .
I remember well watching & re-watching those "making of " segments on the "Wrath of Khan"and other DVD's and being so envious of those guys working at ILM with access to such amazing software.
Not only is the current Blender a good Choice financialy but the turmoil in the GPU market caused by this "cryptomining" business is not only affecting video gamers but anyone who has commited to a rendering software that is only functional with a GPU ( Daz IRay )
There was a guy, in one of my Blender face book user groups, who was testing the new Xcycles on a low spec laptop with only intergrated CPU graphics capability
Sure his performance was probably crap!!! but its good to know people with limited hardware budgets wont be totally locked out of Blender 3.x
Unlike those poor souls needing an unobtainable NVIDIA RTX card just to even render a still image in other softwares.

But you still have to scale things up or down to work in Poser or Blender. What I tend to do is just import a figure's geometry like Dusk or Dawn's, into Blender and create props or clothing around that geometry. It's much simpler and easier for me. Then when it's >time to export >everything's the proper size.
Well of course There mus be initially some trial and error to get the export/import scale right for clothing development but you then save a preset as I Did for Daz genesis and later Reallusion CC3.( see pic)
That is not a reason to declare Blender "not viable " for an export Plugin as suggested by "Nevertrumper"
My opinion is that such dedicated bridge plugins are better left to third parties .
Existing poser users, such as Redphantom ,who really want to us Blender for rendering, are already doing so without a bridge plugin
Bondware should be focused on making posers internal features more competitive because trying to use a "Blender bridge" as selling point is very little enticement to a NEW BUYER when that person still has to buy poser for $200 and then have the choice sending LF&LH,Dawn, Dusk or the 15 + year old V4/M4 to Blender for rendering.
OR spend that $200 on CC3 pipeline and use the free Blender import Addon ,in my previous post, and have access to all of the genesis figures (via the conversion tool in CC3) before exporting them to Blender for rendering
Or get Daz studio for nothing and use one of the two Free plugins to send Daz Genesis 8 figures and scene content to Blender for rendering.

You really should learn more about Blender.
Any imported item, or group of items in Blender, can be parented to an "Empty" and that empty can be perfeclty scaled to any size you need.
You have been using Blender for years to make simple props Earl.
The fact that you did not know this is a perfect illustration of why the average poser user will never embrace Blender.
The Blender default cube is 2 meters tall ( over 6 feet) here are two copies of P6 Jessie(remember her), imported into Blender via Daz studio 4.12 using the free "diffeomorphic" Addon by Thomas Larson.
the Jessi on the right has been attached to an empty and scaled up obviously.
Seriously .. poser users can render V4 - G8 in Blender right now...today!! but they would again have to use Daz studio as an intermediary step and if the DS interface is too hard for them...
then even then new ,user friendly,2.9+ Blender is truly a lost cause as they will never leave the 1990's ,kai krause designed ,interface comfort bubble.

When I finished my six year animated film project with Daz Iclone& C4D I was so desperate to replace my Aging 10 year old version of C4D, that I aquired a second hand copy of Lightwave 2015.
I had actually established an .obj/MDD based Character animation pipeline from Daz studio to lightwave similar to the the .obj/MDD based pipeline I had used with Daz studio to C4D. and the Lightwave Viewport render(VPR) was a huge improvement over maxons Abysmal open GL display.
Then I gave Blender 2.8.2 a try after many adandoned attempt s with the previous versions.( 2.4-2.7)
I quickly established a Daz clothing modeling workflow in Blender identical to my old C4D work flow(actually superior) and EEVEE's viewport display closed the deal.
Blender 2.8x+ is the most exciting thing to happen to me creatively, since getting into 3D.
I have spent nearly $300 in pro ad-dons this past year
I have since left the Daz genesis eco system entirely for Iclone/CC3 for Characters and create all of my clothing and content for the CC3 avatars
However I consider myself to be primarily a Blender user.

Instead of fumbeling some cycles rip off into Poser, it would have been better establish a Blender Bridge. That kind of a bridge for bringing your scene to Blender including cycles materials plus a return for creating morphs for your figures and objects. But all this would not justify an upgrade, for it can be simply done as a plug in. >Poser has reached its limits.
Having a Bridge to Blender will not help sell copies of Poser to anyone.
Users from the Blender eco system needing Pre-fabbed figures have two plugins to get Daz genesis figures into Blender with auto material conversion.
Diffeomorphic by Thomas Larson and the Official Daz to Blender bridge and both are FREE just like Blender.
An Iclone CC3 user even created a free blender addon for us Iclone CC3 users
Exisiting Poser users ,who are already using Blender for creating their own content or market place products have sorted out the back & forth for morph creation without a specific plugin for poser.
And non content creators, in the poser user base, will never migrate to Blender just to use the REAL cycles or the Realtime EEVEE engine.
I say this because this is the group that considers Daz Studios Kiddie toy interface "too difficult to use" to gain access to the coveted, overrated ,golden unicorn(G8).
I doubt they will embrace Blender which has a far more complex interface than Daz studio.
So for Bondware to develop a dedicated Blender bridge would be a terrible waist of time & resources IMHO
Thread: Blender vs. Maya: Which is better? | Forum: Blender
I agree completely with both Luxx and Lobo
The value of Maya is the 24 hour tech support with the ability to call Autodesk at 3:15 am and have a live person Walk you through any software issue even writing/delivering a custom Melscript to patch your copy of Maya if necessary.
Also I have Three PC's. My main workstation is one year old.
But I also run the latest stable Blender on 6 year old Toshiba laptop (with 4 gigs of ram and an AMD integrated graphics card) where I test add-ons and do some light hard surface modeling with Hardops &box cutter.
If your hardware is older/lesser than this, you are probably locked out of any modern 3DCC and even hobbiest Character programs Like Poser or Daz studio as well as stuck at the vestigial dead end of Pre 2.8+ versions of Blender.
There are sometimes die hards, over on the Blenderartist forum who occasionally post ranting screeds against the Blender foundation for "adandoning the old guard "etc . and that is fine, as is staying with Pre 2.8+ for comfort bubble reasons.
But just know that trying to participate in the many online Blender communities for help, will likely be an increasingly frustrating experience .

Technically the poser morph brush is better at fixing poke thru on an improperly modeled clothing item than those lame arsed Dformers in daz studio.
But I model my clothing correctly in blender in the first place for CC3 or back when I still used Genesis so its moot?
Thread: Free version of Poser a benefit to vendors? | Forum: Poser 12
Features matter ..trying to have a software discussion without mentioning the features/tools in the current market is just an excercise in subjective fanboy validation.
I and many others left Maxon C4D for Blender based on Price/ feature comparison.
Poser is not immune from such comparisons and BTW , Iclone/CC3 is sold in the RMP. That income helps poser development.
Thread: Free version of Poser a benefit to vendors? | Forum: Poser 12
I convert Genesis 8 and Genesis 3 hair, shoes, and clothing to my Poser figures all the time. Look, with the fitting and setup rooms, Poser content is unlimited......I can recreate (for my own use) any character made for the Genesis figures (I use Head Shop for Mac, which creates a morph for Genesis 2 F/M, but the product exists for Windows for La Femme and L'Homme)........... **Yeah, it takes some work. **
Work that 99.99 percent of the poser user base would likely never undertake from what I have observed.
And most of what you describe would be a non starter for any potential new content vendor, due to copyright issues, even if poser was free as suggested by the OP.
Genesis 8 has face rigging. Whoopdy doo! So do La Femme and PE
I personally think that face rigs are largely useless for the still render Portrait/pinup crowds that dominate the poser/Daz user base and not really any incentive for a content provider.
Except the genesis face rig now support the FACS Standard and there are Iphone Face capture Plugins for animated filmmakers to use Genesis 8. ..as does the Iclone/CC3 natives by default.
Character Animation is everywhere and those trying to compete in the 3D Character market, who ignore, it do so at their own peril.
Thread: Free version of Poser a benefit to vendors? | Forum: Poser 12
Sure they will be forced to change there marketing >strategies one day or another,
A good marketing strategy is vital but eventually the potential buyers are going to make a price vs feature comparison . This is where poser runs into trouble as it offers nothing that is not available in its lower or similarly priced competitors.
