The clouds look amazing. Are they generated by Terragen or is it a picture? I am talking about the picture in the 1st page of the link on the bottom right hand corner. If they are generated by Terragen what is the secret.

iI you are using amd and an asus mobo make sure to turn off Cool'n'Quiet in the bios. The probelms with black screens sounds as if the video driver installed is wrong, somehow. IMHO it is best to install video card drivers from the maker of the card. Therefore, if I buy a nvidia asus card, go to the asus site and download their driver from asus, instead of going to the nvidia site and downloading it from them.

If possible you can use illumination baking on your objects to speed up render time with global illumination. Do it for as many objects as possible. This way GI computations will be done once for those objects that are baked. Those same computations will be used for each frame without having to be re-caculated, thus saving time.
or just lose or set the quality lower for the GI.
or just use Global Ambience instead of GI.

This is very good. I wanted this to happen for years to come and now it has begun. I just started reading the twins. Glad to hear they are even better.

uninstall vue, delete all the files and traces of it in folders and the registry. It should be able to be installed with the old serial # after that.

I don't know how anyone can be happy with the restarting of the render cows. The render cows in vue have had serious problems for years, but they have come some way. By this time, I am use to the restarting of the cows. I can usually get away with 3 renders before restarting all of the cows.
I never tried C5pro.
For viewing pleasure, I like vue more, but C5pro looks very good too.
As a long time vue user I am not about to jump ship. I am more than excited to see what Vue 6 has to offer. When will we know?
I hope they offer matte shadows and a better toon shader.

I think this is a bug or bad design, but a simple solution is to hit no to the pop up that asks if you want vue to put nodes on the terrain. When procedural are 1st generated the mapping cordinates sometimes are World Standard and sometimes are Parametric, so hitting yes to the pop up sometimes is the solution to keeping the terrain the same and sometimes hitting no may work. Expermint with it. For me, I use standard terrains more often because these lame quirks are not there at all and there is more control that is easier to access.

Is it just me or does Bruno's picture look nothing like the intended picture? Using multiple terrains is a good idea and will give lots of control. I think that is the best way. O O . ) < > .

I would draw it , grayscale. Then I would use the same maps altered to my needs to drive the vegetation and the materials. Then bring the picture into the terrain editor.
Terrain painting would work too, but then you would not have any maps to drive the veg. & mats.
If anything procedural terrains would make it harder.
