Even if you get DSON working properly, there are many threads on many boards with folks talking about how well it actually works. I have an iMac with 8 GB of RAM, and I have found I can only use two Genesis 2-based figures at a time, and unless you turn subdivision off, performance is glacial. But you can go the CR2 route, which is what I have done. You convert DS figures, clothes, etc to Poser native ones that have no slow DSON overhead. You can still use DSON for poses, expressions, etc. My experience leads me to recommemd that You buy Netherwork's Creator's Toybox. It tells you exactly how to do that and cleans up the files for you. It takes some time, but boy is it worth it.
Thread: Considering switching to Mac -- how's Poser work? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL

Poser Pro 2014 has been working fine on Macs, but be aware that Apple have done something in the latest release, El Capitan (OS X V10.11), which seems to have affected Python. If you use Reality and/or the DSON importer, make sure you get the previous OS version, Yosemite (OS X V 10.10), or Poser won't start with those plug-ins. Maybe others too - just be aware. There is plenty of info on the forums about this issue, so do check if this is still the current situation.
'Most add-ons are PC only' - even if true, it's irrelevant if you don't use 'most add-ons'. You just need to check the add-ons that YOU use, to make sure the author has built Mac compatibility in.
'... paying twice as much and getting half the machine.' Yup, millions of gullible people with too much spare cash fall into this well-hidden trap. They just get on with their creative stuff and never, ever find out how stupid they were to buy a Mac. Funny, that.
El Capitan has been fixed to address the Python problem. Poser Pro 2014 running great on 2-year old iMac with 8GB of RAM with latest system update.

This is Steve with a quick conversion of the M4 Freelancer in the fitting room. There's still minor poke through I have to fix.

V4 stands up pretty well by comparison to other figures. But Dawn Special Edition, as noted in other threads, looks great! Frankly, of the Poser native figures, I'd say Posette still looks the best. That's kind of sad (apologies to the Roxie fans). Antonia to KEZ.jpg

Well I am pleased I purchased the texture set and I think I am getting much closer to my goal. This is my WIP as of now, rendered in Poser 2014 and the only post work is the added dark background.
Do you really need the high-end Photoshop in the product description, or could I use it in Elements 10?

There is a free "realistic" morph at ShareCG. This is my first self-made character using Dawn SE.
Thread: Stick with P10 or go Pro? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
By the way, I just used Lyrra's FitRoom Helpers For Dawn for the first time, and it translated a V4 garment much better than WW had just done.

I have an iMac with only 8 gig, and side grading from P10 to Pro doubled the number of V4/M4 figures I can have in a scene with hair, clothes, and props to six. I have successfully used the Fitting Room to convert a V4 body suit to DAZ's Lillith 6 I have copied morphs from Dawn to a garment converted using Wardrobe Wizard
