Yeah! I just spent the last two weeks with an MS tech, because my Temp folder is filling up with Log files.  The tech finally said, "Not important, it is the way the system logs its activity.?!"  

It never did that before!  Is this some kind of new check your computer activity by MS?

This is in Vista, but you should be able to do much the same to install a Language Pack into Win XP.

You can change the language Windows uses to display text in wizards, dialog boxes, menus, and other items in the user interface. Some display languages are installed by default; others require you to install additional language files.

Before you can install a display language, you need access to the language files. These files can be on your computer, on a computer on your network, or on your Windows DVD; or they can be downloaded from the web. For more information, see How do I get additional language files?

To install a Language Interface Pack (LIP), double-click the file to open the setup program. To install a Multilingual User Interface Pack (MUI), follow these steps:

1. Click to open Regional and Language Options.
2. Click the Keyboards and Languages tab.
3. Under Display Language, click Install/uninstall languages, and then follow the steps.  If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Note

• The Display language section will only be visible if you have already installed a LIP or if your edition of Windows supports MUI. MUI packs are only available in Windows Vista Ultimate and Windows Vista Enterprise.

After you install a display language, you need to set your computer to use that language. For more information, see Change the display language.

Threaten them with a bill for about $1000 if they continue to display the work as reimbursement for copyright infringement.

Very good point.  2 gigs are present, spent too much on the new software, will have to wait for the extra ram.  

Is anyone else running Vista x64 with more than 4 gigs?  And if so do you have an idea of how much of an improvement between the two OS's there is?  Otherwise, I might wait on the ram.

You could try using the OpenGl Software setting rather than the OpenGl Hardware.

An interesting note for Windows, Mac, and Linux users, since MS Virtual PC 2007 does not support other OS’s other than Microsoft.

I use Corel Draw Power Trace. The difference between a good conversion from Raster to Vector is a very high quality Raster image.  However, your vector is not going to look like your raster image. The subtle tonality is lost in conversion from raster to vector.  

In future, you might consider the SVG format of Scalable Vector Graphics such as Inkscape.

I totally agree!~!  I cannot count the number of systems I have had to give up, because they are no longer supported.

I was quietly told by one of the techs that “That” big company has plenty of business from China to sustain the coiffures, so could finally put out the promised OS that would do everything for everyone. They almost did, but pulled back for compatibility reasons, just as they always have.   

It was also noted, realizing the Enterprise sector does not have the cash or desire to follow the upgrade madness imposed on most, Wine became an inspiration.  Now we have Virtual PC, to lighten the burden. Maybe this will slow down the upgrade dispose-all frenzy. 

The constant upgrade path is a business activity approaching a “pyramid” scheme, and all such schemes are doomed to fail.

Bill did explain in an interview, he expects to have “everything” electronic, running the OS, and he did say everything. So, I wonder when or if this frenzy, that has and is taking down part of our economy will stop, or at least slow?

In the meantime, all you can do is hang on and look for the best options, however, each day they get fewer in number and more complex in application. My grand-daughter could careless about computers; maybe she has the right attitude after all.   Maybe I need to find a nice guiet farm, retire, and raise chickens or something.

With all of the x86 out there, I think it will be a long itme, perhpas a decade before we see x64 as the standard platform.

I have a couple of 16 bit grayscale page scanners, that process 33 pages per minute and a 9 x 12 pen tablet that you cannot get drivers for anymore, I want to keep in house.
