I work with it, a friend of mine writes programs (he also wrote the OS that operates the HD and CD-rom) for it and i do the graphics (see example, i wish i could show more, but i have to transfer those from the Sam to the PC, but XP is not nice to my disk-image reader, i am working on that).
So why should i use a computer of wich production stopped about 13 years ago and probably less than a 1000 are still in use worldwide on a regular base.
Because it is fun......
Draculaz, somehow you don't get the point, people do things just for fun of it, and for that they don't need the newest, or the best or the most expensive goods, software or whatever, all they want is to have fun, and that is priceless.

Completely agreeing with that, a good carpenter does not blame his tools. With MAX you have a very expensive toolbox, but are you still the person to use it, because it has to be right between the ears. No talent is going to make it very hard to get the most out of Bryce or Max. Personally i don't care if max-users look down upon us Bryce-users, its a kind of sad actually that they are doing that.

But Seti takes his foot of the gas of other things like this program need those T-states (program-cycles, whatever. Still use to call them T-states). Even on my previous machine (A PII 400 with only 64mb) had no problems with Seti running in the back. And if nessecary i could turn it off. Learn one thing about Bryce (and other renders), CPU-speed is one thing, but memory is everything else, you can't have enough of it.

Add a few Japanese tourists and a Jan Veerman or 2, LOL, this is fun, and it looks good, the windmill looks a bit skinny, but that's normal in that part of Holland.

Besides that, the coke-can is a bit small compared to the paint-cans, or the paint-cans are just to big, but i don't think so seeing the next to the model.

Lets not forget that Mohammed Saeed Al Sahaf is a member of the Baath-party since 1963 and joined the inner circle in 1968. Keep in mind that the regime in Iraq is responsible for serveral wars, ethnic cleansing and running a dictatorship that made tens of thousands die or disappear. Now i have some mixed feelings about this liberation-war but i don't mind that Saddam is being fed to the dogs in a thousand pieces. Not for America, not for liberation and freedom, but as that old man (the one beating the portrait of Saddam with his shoe) said earlier this week on TV, for the sons of Iraq he has murdered.

Before i joined Renderosity three months ago, i hung around in alt.binaries.3d.bryce, but in 2002 i did little to nothing when it comes to Bryce, i partially blame the atmosphere that is still hanging in that newsgroup after 9/11, you where with "THEM" or against "THEM" was the motto of some regular posters, the Antrax picture in my gallery is inspired by the behaviour of some of those newsgroup-members.
I do lurk in the newsgroup now, and the volume of posting has gone down as is the quality of what is posted there. Bryce has no radiosity is the point of view of a newsgroup member there, and he backed his statement with a render made in another program. That you can replicate that picture with Bryce does not matter, i mean it talks like a duck, it walks like a duck, so is it a Duck? And we proved here that Bryce in the right hands is a match for the much more expensive packages that float around.
And those hands are here, not overthere in the newsgroup.

Well RobertJ when pronouced in Dutch means so much like little Robert, wich is exactly the opposite of what i am, rather tall guy weighing about 105 kg. And the J also stands for my seccond wich is Jan, Robert Jan, just because there where already so much people in the family called Jan. And as last, i the past when choosing a screenname in a Forum (or such things), Robert was usually taken, so RobertJ was the seccond choice :)

I learned about normals quite a long time ago when i was still fiddeling with vector-graphics on a Sinclair-Spectrum computer. Normals is the direction in wich a surface is pointing seen from the observers point of view. If the surface is pointing more than 90 degrees away from the observer than it is being regarded as not visible. It is not completely the same, but it should give you an idea
