MSVCR80.dll,
Interesting, this file is a Microsoft C Runtime Library for the Microsoft 2005 Visual Studio. Often this DLL is called by third party software.
Here is the MS White Paper http://support.microsoft.com/kb/912422/
Thread: So when can we expect Vue 6 Esprit to pre-release? | Forum: Vue
Pro, Esprit, and Easel were scheduled for December 1st, as a release, but now it is contact Customer Support or Sales, so I wouldn't hold your breath. I think they had more unexpected buggggsss than they can handle.
Thread: Vue & Vista | Forum: Vue
You said Vue doesn’t ID the Video Card, but you didn’t say whether Vue will run. If so you should be able to uncheck the feature in Preferences that tests the card on launch. Check the Open GL Hardware Acceleration and see if it will run. If you have not already done that.
Vista should have installed the correct ATI 9600 Family drivers with OpenGL support automatically on installation. Those drivers should be sufficient to launch VUE 5 without updating the drivers.
You may have to turn off Data Execution Prevention for Vue. There is also the possibility that your current Firewall may not allow Vue to run and have to add it to the exclusion list.
Thread: Quick POST DOF tutorial for Photoshop.. | Forum: Vue
I agree, unless you have a model to work with it is difficult to determine an expectable average of blur. As a result, I use a system of measurements when creating a scene.
I calculate the size of the object of most interest and then make measurements in relation to that to the distance and size of other objects. You can do this by taking a length of rod, a cylinder reduced to a size that equals the length of the object of interest and use it as a measuring stick to measure approximately how far away from the camera and other objects; and how large other points of interest should be. Just switch to one of the other views and measure.
In photography, there are lengths in inches and feet that can correspond to an f-stop. Trying to achieve scale is difficult when you use aerial perspective, but it is possible.
Thanks, I am playing with Vue to see if I might migrate from 2D to 3D, and I think I am hooked.

Nice TUT, However,
No offense, but your depth of field, does not look like a true DOF. You have too much blurred too close to the camera, and the same amount far away. This is not true DOF. I would suggest instead you use a combination of Fadeout and Lens Blur so you will get minimal, or no blur close up and maximum blur far away.
Thread: Any idea when Carrara 6 might be out? | Forum: Carrara
I hope so, my tree editor still crashes everytime I change the default, even with the patches. DAZ knows but has said nothing since the aquisition.
I like the idea of universal binary, faster execution times, better compatibility, especially after MS releases Vista and DX10. But, that should screw-up everything again.

Well, although the programmers at DAZ are pretty good, how many years did it take to update from Bryce 5 to 6. A lot!!!
I think for the most part, Bryce is there baby, and if C6 comes out it will probably be a minor, maybe 5.4 or something to make C more compatible with Bryce. I think there idea in buying Eovia in the first place was to give a heftier update to their Bryce users.
They have to recoup a lot of spent money, so I would like to know also. I have been playing with Vue Easel, and if Infinite gets stable, and DAZ sits around too long, I might make the switch.
Thread: V6I crashes on saving | Forum: Vue
If have the same problems, and when I debug, each time I find the crash is due to a memory fault. But, whether it is MS or Vue is uncertain.
Thread: V6I crashes on saving | Forum: Vue
I am beginning to wonder if it is because the core code is base on the not yet released Vista and we are still running XP. Has anyone tried running V6 on a Vista Beta?

There could be an easier explanation. That dreaded change of life thing could be sitting on your shoulders. "Oh! What it can do to your emotions!!!"
