Thread: My Program to Organize Runtimes | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks for the encouragement Ockham, love your work by the way. I can put up my script to send paths to the clipboard, just need to made it deployable first. And I have to figure out how best to go about that so everybody can use it easily.
Thread: Problem with superconforming cloths help please | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - Not sure how making things super-conforming affects the morphing brush... because of poke-through, I ended up all too frequently with characters flaunting huge boobs and bums, not a good look if that's not what you're after. What I tend to do now is dial in until there's a fair bit of pokethrough, then draw out the cloth with the morphing brush. Much nicer look, overall.
But those superconforming thingies... would that affect the morphing brush any?
I use the python script "Add Deformers" to copy over my morphing brush changes. Can't remember where it came from, maybe D3D. It usually works pretty well. Not sure if this is what you were getting at, but it has helped me.
Thread: OT: How much memory do you have and how does it help you with Poser? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
When I went from 4GB to 8 I didn't notice much difference to Poser, except that I could use larger bucket sizes to render and Firefly didn't really cache to the hard drive anymore. Except for those incessant exr conversions. What it did do was allow me to have a bunch of programs running straight out of RAM and not the swap file, greatly speeding up applications switching.
For those who have more than 3.5GB of RAM on a 32-bit OS, there are some ramdisk programs out there that can use the extra RAM that Windows can't allocate. For example, I put 4GB into an old laptop running XP 32-bit, and used the extra 500MB as a temporary drive for swap files, storage, etc. Not recommending anybody go buy extra RAM because of that, but if you already have it you might as well use it. Sorry that I can't remember which program I used, it was a while ago and I don't mess with the laptop that much anymore now that I have the desktop built.
Thread: Moving Runtime folder to new computer | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Sorry I'm late to the game, but I want to mention that there are copy programs out there that work way better than Windows for copying large amounts of data. They can utilize multiple cores and more ram, and are faster and more stable. Personally I am using Teracopy, since I like to keep my runtime backed up since it takes so long to reinstall everything. But there are other free ones out there also. Just wanted to share the info.

Thread: do you think it is too late to have a thread about what we would like in poser 9 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have some. A customizable button bar, similar to what is in most browsers, for example. That would be a huge time saver not having to scroll through the menu bar constantly to get to common tasks.
Also, a better gismo for the direct manipulation tool. Something with axis selection, like most modelling programs have.
And finally, better graphics performance, possibly even support for DX11 with the GPU offloading. I have a fast, custom built and way overclocked system and can run the newest games with graphics cranked, not to mention no problems with other 3d applications, but doing something as simple as moving an arm in Poser gets jerky.

Hey Laurie, by the way. You've been around Poser for a while, do you know how I can control the backface selection in the group editor, and get some kind of lasso tool for selecting vertices?
Thread: Help with setting up clothes for cloth room | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Oh, no on the right side I didn't do anything with the edges. I just tested it with the other side to see what would happen.

Gotcha. I'll do that and post back the results. I'm glad you said that, because I'm realizing that mathematically the seams can't be welded automatically anyway, without telling 3DSMax or the Poser group editor which distances to use as a seam.

I see what you're getting at. In that case, how can I select vertices in the group editor without using that obnoxious box select or clicking individual vertices?

Well, that didn't work. It still flies apart. I am trying with Bat's bikini, by the way. My reasoning is that if I can get that figure sorted out I can do anything.

Hmmm.... that's news to me. Well, you can still check it out, just use a proxy. Google has an old mobile web portal that grabs the text from a site, and sometimes photos. It was for back when phones weren't as smart as they are now.
