I had a similar problem, but at DAZ and with my cc. For some reason it just stopped working on their site only. That ended my platinum run there because they wanted a revolving cc and the cc I had wasn't being accepted. Daz said it was the bank. The bank said it wasn't their fault. The cc worked on all other sites. Nobody admitted culpability. Then about a year later the card started working fine on Daz again. No explanation was ever given. I started using gift debit cards like Vanilla Visa as a result. I recently had one not work at ali's Mankahoo site. I emailed them. Same thing. Site says Bank, Vanilla Visa says not them. A week later, same card, same site, no problem and no explanation. I know this is not helpful, but sometimes the answer is to keep trying or buy a debit gift card so you can use another number. For all I know Homeland security or some other institutional banking security check in between like Verisign (sp) we don't know about has their hands on this.
Thread: What's 'DRM' and how will it affect Rendo, SM, DAZ & the Poser-verse? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Despite the Baggins-Bill/Leonard back and forth, I know DRM big picture, butI guess my question is what the heck is Daz doing? And how does it affect the Renderosity community, Poser, etc?
Smith Micro wants to put a Kill Switch in for Poser, but is holding off for now (thank goodness) and now Daz is looking at DRM -but I'm not sure what they mean by it. As a consumer the worst of two worlds, in my ignorance I think (IMIIT?), would be for Daz to go proprietary and Smith Micro to implement a Kill Switch. Would that leave renderosity and RDNA adrift?
Me, software with a kill switch I will not buy. Been there, done that and I can see how that will play out for Smith Micro after an initial period. Users will switch to software that doesn't have a kill switch or they will put cracked versions on things like bit Torrent or the equivalent. A DAZ DRM would make me less likely to invest in their platform, I think, as an alternative to Smith Micro. Part of Daz'z benefit, don't forget, has been access to a 'wide' community albeit in a niche market. Now they're closing a section off??
Hope, I feel this is not a Poser issue, this is a Rendo Community Issue because it involves all the graphics that support Renderosity.
Thread: Enough with the Prime | Forum: Community Center
I don't think PRIME is that great and probably won't re-up next year. I do look at the PRIME FLASH items, but because I don't enjoy navigating the post August 2015 Rendo layout I'm not here much anymore.
The emails people talk about are inconsistent. Today is the 29th of December. I saw a new email for a wishlist item that came in on the 28th. I checked out the item and would have bought it at the discount price listed in the email. But today it was full price. Other items already in Flash longer seem to go to the 30th of December. The email didn't say it was an expired sale when I looked at it. Now I'm disgruntled (before I was only mildly gruntled). Rendo sends me tons of mostly useless emails for 10% off, and when I'm finally interested in an item, it's not available after I take the time to login and check. In one fell swoop marketing whetted my appetite, got me to respond, and then turned me off.
After, what, four months of operation (Aug-Dec), I feel the site has improved slightly, but it's still really disorganized. An ill-presented mish-mash that tends to be hard to follow even if Google likes it.
The site needs a major overhaul.
Thread: Renderosity Weekly Holiday Giveaway | Forum: Community Center
Very disorganized promotion. It seems like a major creative organizing force has left Renderosity?
On the free download page I am excited by things like Flinks Christmas tree prop and can't wait to open them. Thank you to all vendors!
But Rendo doesn't seem to have given the vendors ample credit or any real support in the posting of the Christmas gifts.
Unless it says who did them, I can't see on many. I don't know who Santa's particular elf was and sometimes it's not even clear what the gift is supposed to be. TDF Zani - Character? HairFigure? Hair Texture? Skin Texture? From the thumb, looks quality, though!

Thread: What's coming to Poser | Forum: Community Center
I think that Poser needs jump over 'fixed' characters and start working towards truly universal meshes. 3D Body scanners are coming out for 3D 'selfies.' Someone needs to work with Smith Micro and one or more of these high end 3D scanning companies to create a Universal mesh. Right now from what I see, the meshes and the photo mapping for scanners are all over the place. Once you have a Universal mesh that can come from someone being scanned, now you can have vendors creating items for people that can actually be made and sold, as well as all the other stuff that goes along such as animations (I'm sure that once folks have a 3D selfie file, one of the next things is they'd like it to move). There will probably be several attempts - drafts if you will - before they or anyone gets an Truly Universal Mesh right anyway.
Thread: Really unhappy with the new site design | Forum: Community Center
@Razor42, I followed the link and read the thread. Very interesting, Thank you. Seems to indicate that about 10% are users that are logged in and 'online.' That's kind of a bummer as in the wee hours it was always nice to believe there were maybe a thousand others just like me.
The link to 'online' users in your April 2015 post returned an error. Is there still a way to see who is online, or did that change with site changes in August?

" I would like feedback on how sales are doing since the change. It's been about two months. Has interest increased due to the new format? And if so has that interest translated into increased sales?"
Have you noticed how many vendors have migrated to Daz and other sites?
That's a clear indication of how successful the last two Site "Down-Grades" have been so far.
I'm sure that Daz's move to more proprietary software that less interacts with Poser has put Renderosity in the middle.
I know that there has always been crossover between artists and sites. I don't see any artists abandoning renderosity, though I do think I see those that are developing for Gen characters premier at Daz first when they used to do that at Rendo. If I go to the number of artists currently on line right at this moment I see the number 2727, which is not high, but not low either. I personally don't like this site's re-do and still feel that it is very dis-org-gan-.....i-Z-ed and... d-is-JoInT-ed (Insert advertisement here along with social media logo). But by the artists online numbers I have no way of gaging that what I am seeing is being seen by others. I'm just curious if I'm missing something in the way it is being used. Sales would tell that I think. Maybe the site is ahead of the curve now and I'm doing things the 'old' way? Generally Prices seem to be up and maybe (hopefully) artists and the site are making more money?

I, too, feel like Renderosity is trying to force me into an alliance with Facebook.
Renderosity used to be the best of all the 3D sites I would visit. I like change and new things, but this has been for the birds.

BUG TRENDING POSTS TAKES YOU TO INVALID SALE
Trending posts lists a Prime Group Sale. When I clicked on it this morning to check out the sale it says the sale ended on October 9th, Ten days ago. It neither represents an active item nor in my opinion a trending post. That was a waste of my time, more if you count taking the effort to find where to report it then write it here.
Thread: Have YOU visited our online magazine yet? | Forum: Community Center
I still plan to read the magazine. It looks like a good thing for 3D artists, and we can support that part of the effort without having to tether to FB.

You have to log into Facebook first to comment on any stories.
Hi Hope (again!)
I think in another thread I said that I have no plans to Join Facebook.
I said "like" Renderosity.
I said I do not particularly "like" the company 'Facebook'.
I guess that means I will be able to read the Renderosity Magazine as a Rendo member (which is good), but I will not be able to comment on or participate in anything there. No worries. That's my choice and I'm pretty happy with it. I still look forward to reading. Thank you for the clarification.

I think there should be a line item for the Renderosity Magazine on one of the pull-downs. It is something I could see getting into the habit of checking fairly regularly.
Hey @3dstories-- would you be able to explain your idea a bit further? What do you mean by "a line item?" On the bottom, next to "Become an Affiliate," we do have a link where you can click and it will direct you to the magazine.
Hi, Hope. On the bottom of what? Ah, I see. I generally ignore the items on the "bottom" as outside links to other companies; fine print of minimal (or specialized) value. I tend to look for important and regularly used stuff at the top. By 'Line item' I simply meant a place in line on the pull-down.
In this case, I would tend to think of Renderosity Magazine as being part of the Community. That would be the first place I'd look for it. If I didn't find it there, I'd go to the pic-icons to the right of log in and try them one at a time. To me it would only belong on the bottom if it was not a part of Renderosity, or if it was a function asking for something important enough to be listed in the front, but not used very regularly. e.g. Renderosity direct contact information (which I would also expect to be listed somewhere else, just at the bottom, too, for redundancy). IMHO 'Become a Vendor' should be a line item at the bottom and Rendo Magazine might have an icon at the top in it's place - if it is important enough to you and the company.

I went and read the Renderosity Magazine article on the Intuos Art tablet and I wanted to post a question/comment to the author. While I was already logged in to my Renderosity account, it would not let me participate.

Sorry, but I am not on Facebook and I have no intention of being on Facebook.
I don't really like the company, no pun intended.
That being said, if anyone else is reading this, it wouldn't hurt to "like" Renderosity on Facebook if you're on it.
