Slamming of prison doors "Let's get this straight right
now. I've got the top bunk!"
Excellent badass cat photo!

Doruk, yeah when Dread locks on white guys went out of
style I had to get a haircut, and I only wear that jacket
to dinner these days.
The torso was an old photo I'd found somewhere and the squid
was indeed an illustration. A very very small illustration.
The process of scaling it up to fit the torso made it very
blurry, but it was the only squid picture I could find back
then. That montage is a couple of years old now.
Thanks for the compliment!

I thank Frank Zappa for introducing me to Captain Beefheart.
... And I've come to be able to actually listen to some
of his stuff without cringing too noticably!

Get a clipboard and bring it with you (expanding on Jordy's reflective jacket idea). Clipboards always scare people away!

If the cages on top had Imps or Caco Deamons in them, then I'd say it was a level in Doom that I died in a number of times.

I love this type of photo. If the image was cropped so that only the shorter water fountain was in the frame it'd look like some weird ice formation.

Boy, I'm tired.... My response above should be addressed to eartho, not Bev... And yes, that is a very nice sepia version.

Bev, my software (GIMP) has very limited Lab colorspace
capabilities. In fact the only capability it has is
to "decompose" an image into L, a, and b channels. It
does so by creating three greyscale images, one for
each channel. (It can also do this for RGB, and CMYK)
I guess I should've mentioned that. I have no experience
with Photoshop (won't run on Linux), so I pressumed the
same thing was done in PS. I guess what this means, in
effect, is that I was working with a greyscale image
composed of just the yellow and blue values from the color
original. Hmmm... I just started tinkering with it, so I'll
have to do some more reading on it.
Thread: Attention Macro lens & 35mm camera users - your input wanted! :-) | Forum: Photography
audiopod: Most of the stuff in my gallery was taken with my digital camera (Canon Powershot G2). Even the "Idaho 94" series are digital photos of old 35mm prints. The Canon G2 is a pretty good digital camera, but it's still in the point-n-shoot class and just can't compare to a 35mm SLR in terms of versatility. The biggest advantage for my purposes is that "film" is free, and the images can be transferred directly to my computer for easy post processing. A digital camera with manual controls makes the learning process of photography much quicker and less expensive in the long run, IMO. I'd never suggest that digital image quality is as good as film, espcially in medium and large format, and likewise I'd never suggest that someone who has already invested in a good film outfit switch over to digital. But for web publishing and even medium sized prints (with a good printer) I think it's a viable medium.

Oops.. Forgot to mention: Notice how the forground leaves
are made to stand out, and the reflections on the water's
surface are changed/reduced. The only modifications I'd
made to the "b" channel were to adjust brightness and
contrast.
I think this has interesting possibilities in B&W conversion
of color images. Needs more exploration.

...And I had so much to live for... Wait a minute, no I didn't! I ask just one thing though. Make it slow and gory!
