Thread: I'd have sworn this was possible, but... | Forum: Bryce
Be sure that the DXF file is a solid object. If it is a surface, like the poser figures and many comercial meshes are, that it will not work well when used as the negative or intersecting object.
Thread: Obp | Forum: Bryce
None that I'm aware of. It would seem like it'd be worth it to try and design one that could though. Make a request to the developers' forum, where all of our programming savvy posters reside.
Thread: Bryce 4 bug fixes; Bryce 5?; when & where? | Forum: Bryce
No one would know yet. Meta has a history of being very secretive with release dates and beta testing so just keep checking their site periodically. It will be announced to this forum when the patch does arrive. Br5 would be a long ways away yet.
Thread: A question or two for Bryce 3.... | Forum: Bryce
Terragen is the name of the shareware landscape builder, I believe. As I recall, it could export in DXF. I'm not sure where the site is. One thing you could do is make the object in Bryce, render an image of it, and load the image as a background picture into poser while you adjust the pose. That would enable you to make sure the figure's feet clear the bump and land in the right places. Then you could drag the figure into Bryce with a multi-frame OBJ export.
Thread: Stupid Question? | Forum: Bryce
Create a sphere object and use the bubble material (it's in the water section). Create a 2d circle object and load a picture of the landscape as its texture. Place the circle picture inside of the sphere and away you go.
Thread: light? | Forum: Bryce
Increase amibience in the materials menu for the easy way out. But for a real glow effect, duplicate the sword's blade and go into the material types (the little arrow to the left of the #1 material pop-up box). There, choose Additive and uncheck cast shadows and receives shadows. Change the material to a volumetric texture (click the green globe thing in the upper left-hand corner). Turn base density down 5-7% and turn edge softness and fuzzy factor all the way up. If you want the glow to pulsate, raise and lower the base density with each key frame.
Thread: WHAAAA! I just bought Bryce 3D.... (also a question) | Forum: Bryce
The map looking washed-out comes from the lack of usemtl statements in Bryce. Usemtls are the colors on the figure you see in Poser when you are in the preview mode (no textures shown). Texture maps are actually layed over these instead of replacing them, white being transperant and black being completely opaque. This is why, if you have a peach colored figure and apply an all-white map, the figure will still be peach. The maps included in Poser are lighter so that they don't show up too dark on the figure when rendered. To counter this, darken the maps in a paint program when exporting to bryce. On a nice note though, they may send you a free upgrade to bryce 4 since you bought B3 just before B4 came out. Software companies have been known to do that sort of thing. Make sure you have sent in the registration card first and then contact company service.
Thread: 3dsexe | Forum: Bryce
you must have 3ds files on your computer registered to be opened by 3DS Max. If you own 3ds max, point the "could not find 3ds.exe please manually locate this file" box to 3ds. If you don't own 3ds max, you can open these files in bryce by going to File>Import Object.
Thread: Raining water | Forum: Bryce
I recommend playing with Peter's material for snow in the deep texture editor. Get to know this area very well and start experimenting. I've been trying to get good rain for several weeks now and have found that using the wood grain in place of the blue dots material works out pretty well.
Thread: Lens flare | Forum: Bryce
You can indeed make a lens flare, it just needs to be an object. Once the bryce forum gets going, I'll post my lens flare object on its funstuff. In the mean time, you can download the OBP here.
Thread: My Work | Forum: Bryce
Fantastic! I love the curtains. Try to lower contrast between the carpet and the walls and you've got one great room.
