By default, Poser will try to use the shader node information even when using the P4 Renderer. For best results go to Render Settings, click on the Poser 4 tab, and make sure to check the option for "Ignore shader trees". This will also speed up the rendering.
After all, if you want to use the shader nodes, just use the FireFly renderer.
Quote - Why you don´t try Firefly? It´s a very good render-mashine with much better results than the Poser4 render.
I tend not to use the FireFly Renderer unless I need to, basically because a number of my characters and materials were "tuned" to the P4 Renderer and they don't look the same using FireFly. My Tabby character uses a combination of Object Color, Ambient Color, Ambient Value, and a specific set of lights to get just the look that I want. The FireFly Renderer reads the Ambient Color and Ambient Value differently and the character looks washed out.
I've tried numerous adjustments since P5, but the P4 Renderer is still the easiest option.

Thanks for the links.
Of course Google is my friend, but I was wondering if anyone had any personal experiences with these people, beyond what could be found in a Google search.

nyguy- thanks for the link to Comic Connect. I'll give them a try.
If I post a new ad on Craigslist, I'll make sure to say "cash only".
Marque- I'm surprised you didn't get e-mails from scammers who saw your ad for a missing dog and offered to pay you by certified check "for your items that i really need".

Thread: Help! No default figure loaded in document window of new Poser 4 install ! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
At the risk of sounding like a jerk, the solution is (gasp!) to use a version of Poser that isn't 10 years old. Yes, Poser 4 may be the tried-and-true version for most people and it may even "run faster" for some tasks. Until that is, you get the dreaded "Out of memory" generic error message when Poser can't find an obj file or a texture file and you scream at it, wondering why you're "out of memory" on a machine that has 3G of RAM.
I recommend getting Poser 7, or at least Poser 6.
You can probably pass on getting Poser 5 since P6 basically corrects all the issues found in P5.

On a sort-of related note, I've met Helgard and the photo on the back of the cover looks exactly like him.
There's another photo he uses without his beard, but I suspect that's his evil twin from another dimension. lol

Like mrsparky said, the DSU's got scared and were trying to hide. Here are some links, to get them out of their burrows. ;)
DSU (for Poser) at Vanishing Point.
DSU (for Poser) at Content Paradise

Thread: FWHS Designs - Freebie Block People (Lego®) contest | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Your Lego blocks are a great idea! :)
I wasn't sure if I had to join your site to post my request for a Lego item, so I'll post it here:
Rebel Blockade Runner
A paltry 1,748 pieces. I don't know why it's $999.99 at Amazon.com.
Millennium Falcon
5,195 pieces
Death Star II
3,417 pieces
Seriously, though, if you need ideas, let me know- I still have boxes of Legos in my closet and I can probably dig out some instruction manuals, scan them, and e-mail them.
Thanks

Nope, it's not a V-Wing. I still have to work through all the vehicles from the six movies and the Clone Wars series... and I haven't even started on the Episode I stuff yet!

Very cool-looking car.
Quote - This model has been based on the few publicity photos avaliable, these only shows the right hand side so the left side on this model is conjectural.
Wait, are you saying you didn't go see the movie so you could see that the left side of the model looks like? And, yes, as an artist, you're supposed to suffer for your art, which means suffering through bad movie remakes. ;)

Thread: How do I rename figures in Poser? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Attached Link: General Tips & Information
There are two ways to rename a figure: either within the Poser scene or by opening the cr2 file in a text editor. I explain both of these methods on my [General Tips & Information](http://www.cocs.com/poser/tips.htm) page.

Yes, I can confirm: it's not a joke, not a hoax, and not a dream! :)
The Vanishing Point Star Wars items are available for free at Content Paradise.
However, like Jestertjuuh said, these are the same items that have been available on Vanishing Point for the past few years. However, some items have updated models (such as the Imperial Shuttle) and some items include both the base model and the texture (such as the X-Wing, B-Wing, Landspeeder, and Stormtrooper).
But, who knows, maybe a new vehicle is in the works. ;)

Excellent list. The only detail I would add is a detailed description of each item (is it posable? are textures included? is it scaled to Poser figures, etc)... but that could be a big chore considering how many items there are. ;)
Anyway, you left out PhilC's items: Oola and Slave Leia for Vicky 2. I believe he has also some Oola poses as well.

bagginsbill is correct- I tested the one-sided square using a Diffuse_Color of black and a Diffuse_Color of white and I got the same results: a mirror without any streaks.
But, it sounds like the issue has been solved. :)
I agree with ockham- two-sided objects must be banned! Poser renders objects as double-sided, so putting textures on both sides of one polygon is just asking for rendering problems.

Thread: Poser 7 Reflection Promblem | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yep, the streaking is caused by Poser rendering a double-sided object. It's interesting that I rendered the images for my tutorial in Poser 5 and I didn't get the streaking. I wonder if it's the light set that I used or if this is another bug in the Firefly renderer.
I'll have to look at my tutorial and tell people to use the BOX instead of the one-sided square. ;)
