What about veiled threats, such as "If I really wanted to, I could really hurt your sales." or "Don't make me angry. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry." Where do these fit into the above matrix?
Thread: Poser 5 export to .3ds | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Poser usually exports objects with a "mtl" file. Your other program (Bryce, Lightwave) would have to be able to read in the mtl file to know how to apply textures and colors to the materials. Programs like Vue and Cinema 4D can read Poser pz3 files that have the materials built into the file. But, currently, no other program can read Poser 5 materials and dynamic cloth information.

The Heirarchy Editor has all kinds of cool features. You can remove morphs from a character: Click the checkbox to "Show All Parameters". Click the "+" next to the object, select a parameter and hit Delete. You can drag parts around to "connect" them to other parts. This should be the same thing as Parenting the object, though I haven't tried this yet. Click on the checkbox to "Show Lights" and you can select them or drag them as well.
Thread: POSER NEW RELEASE? POSER 6? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Do a search in this forum for all the posts about Poser 5. Go back to 2000 and 2001 to see the "California Dreaming" post (by the then-president) showing off Poser 5's abilities. Naturally, people started drooling. A few months later, the drooling turned into "We want it now. We'd rather have a buggy program than no program at all." Then, Sept 2002 came and Poser 5 was released. It took about a day for people to change their chanting to "Fix the program. We'd rather have no program than a buggy program." Then came the service packs, sometimes 2 a day! Then came the $99 sale at Amazon.com... over $200 less than the "special pre-order" price that many people paid. What did we learn?

You can also open the Heirarchy Editor and click the eyeball icon to make parts visible and invisble. It's a little easier than trying to click on every single finger and then going to Properties...
Thread: TGIF: OT: FYI: CD-R's may last only two years: | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I backup my Poser files on to CD-R. Whew! Just in time. This thread is no not related to Poser that it's not even funny. Why is it in the Poser thread and not in a more relevant forum like Hardware or Computers or Technical or OT? Because I just mentioned the word Poser, so that makes the entire thread relevant to Poser. So, there, now you can't move it. It is so relevant.

Here's another surefire hint: If anything asks you if you want to change the current figure, click CANCEL. Do not blindly click OK because it's there. Single-click a figure or clothing, then click the single-check button. Double-click a pose or prop or hand or face to apply those to the scene. It would have been nice if the single-click/ double-click was standard.
Thread: how to remove "standard" param dials? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
"forceLimits 0" means there are no limits on the dial. "forceLimits 4" means there are limits on the dial. Using values other than 0 or 4 don't affect the settings- 0 is no limits, non-zero is to set limits.
Thread: Take a look | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Here's something to consider- is there a market for Mill Pre-Teen stuff? There probably is, but would you have more of a market if you made this set for V3? Maybe you should make a package of morphs that work on the PT, V3, V2, and Steph. That way, you hit all of the most-popular models.
Thread: Poser 6: A new Name? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Poser Sux. Whoops, typo. I mean "Poser Six". The "u" key is right next to the "i" key. Could happen to anyone.
Thread: Why such poor download into? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
{Has anyone ever looked at a zip with paths that start with: artistname/itemname/runtime/etc/etc and not muttered idiot as they had to fix it?} And it's information like this that should be shared. How many other people have downloaded that same file and muttered that same thing? One posting to the forum would tell the artist AND anyone else that their is something amiss in the zip file. No need to call anyone names, no need to be accusatory. Think about it from a productivity issue: one person spends 5 minutes fixing a zip file. 10 people download the file and spend 5 minutes (each) fixing the zip file. That's 50 minutes. 100 people download the file and spend 5 minutes fixing the zip file. That's 500 minutes or over 8 hours of people fixing the zip file!! I think the artist can spend an extra 10-15 minutes of their time, making the zip file correctly, to save 8 hours of other people's time.
Thread: Ok, HOW is this done? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Here's a thought: it may be the way the light is hitting the surface of the object. The bullets and buckle have curved surfaces, so the light will reflect at different angles. But, the disc is flat, so the light isn't going to reflect the same way.
Thread: Why such poor download into? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
This is why I love it here. Someone asks a question, which should lead to a process-review and a better organization of items, but instead, the situation goes like this:
Question: "I just downloaded a dress. There is no readme file in the zip file and it doesn't say which model it's for. Why don't artists include this information when they make a dress?"
Answer: Shut up, you stupid troll. Geez, can't you just be grateful for the free things that people graciously give you??
But, I would be more grateful if I could actually use this free item on a character.
Did I say you could speak, troll? Unless you are prepared to give your undying thanks to the free stuff providers, you are unworthy to post such a question. I demand that such question be stricken from this community henceforth!
Or how about this:
New person: Hi. I just installed Poser and saw all these really neat textures for Vicky. Where can I get Vicky for free?
Answer: How dare you ask that question here? I will call down the mighty admins upon you and strike you down where you stand. File sharing is illegal and it's time you learned your lesson.
But, I just installed Poser yesterday. What is a "warez"? I don't know which figures are for sale and which are free.
LIAR! I can spot a warez kitty. Your information has been sent to the admins so they can ban you, your family, your pets, and all of your neighbors for asking such a question. Now be gone so they can lock this thread.
