"Whenever I apologize, there are no "buts." I'm apologizing because it needs to be said."
Hi Pip- Yes, relationships are about give/take. I completely agree with you. And, it seems as if we're making rules and not asking for your opinion. For that, I apologize. From now on, I promise to involve you guys more often than I had. But,..........
Yes, you do add a BUT to your apologies, it's been a habit since day one. There it is, in your first post, the excuses started flowing. Just own up to it. "I'm sorry I will try my best not to do that anymore"
This may seem like a petty, piddly thing to you, however, I can assure you it is not. Otherwise it would not be brought up again and again and again.
There is probably nothing you can do about the Prime club, that horse is dead, the damage has been done. It should have been taken care of a long, long time ago, wait, no it should have never happened, but it did. While TPTB may think that that has all died down and things are all hunky dory over it, it's not, we've just started spending our money elsewhere, because the Prime Club no longer holds any type of competition against normally priced products elsewhere for the most part. I'm still very angry about it and believe it or not, so are a LOT of other Prime Members, as you all will find out as membership to that drops off as well.
Anyway, good luck Hope, I think there is a learning curve, and I truly wish that you would seek out and listen to those admins that have successful relationships with the community, this is something you are not going to learn on your own.

Hi Pip- Yes, relationships are about give/take. I completely agree with you. And, it seems as if we're making rules and not asking for your opinion. For that, I apologize. From now on, I promise to involve you guys more often than I had. But, it seems no matter what we say, you guys think we're not listening. It seems if when we DO explain something, it gets twisted into something that wasn't intended on meaning and that's why we may seem like we don't "listen."
A long time ago, I've heard stories that the community was more about helping than hurting one another. It was more about being a team rather than who is against whom. And, I'd like to get back to that. I promise to try harder in letting you guys be part of the decision-making. But, please note, if we don't agree/take your opinion, that doesn't mean that we're not listening. I apologize if it seems like I'm belittling or talking to you guys like children. You are not children, you are adults.
Let's start to trust each other little by little and see where it takes us.
Thank you.
Perhaps it was more like that at some point but has not been like that for many, many years. It certainly is not like that now. We have some in the admin area that are awesome, then we have some, that try to spin it, try to apologize but no matter how hard they try.....there has to be a BUT attached to it. It's like standing there and apologizing to someone that you have wronged or admitting you are wrong, then turning around and saying "BUT because I perceived it this way, I'm really not wrong, but I want you to think I'm wrong so we can continue"....I think the feeling of insincerity starts to creep in.
A statement with "I apologize" has no room for a but in it. You apologize and move on, drop the but.
Sorry it's just the same ole stuff....some are listening some are not. Those that listen and want to change it are being shouted down by those that want to think they know what they are doing, when they clearly don't.

I could not agree more. Don't need a biography from someone, just need to observe and see and read actions and words.

It's getting awfully tribal in here...
I wonder will there ever truly be peace for Poserdom?
History is full of small tribes that failed to work together for a greater good often one that is shared by each, being wiped out by larger tribes that appreciate the benefits of collectivism versus opportunistic based individualism masquerading as community.
Wait, you left out the "I don't care what anyone uses, or who makes what, I just want to make art in peace tribe"
That would the one I belong to :)
Tribes are a much nicer word then clique which is what you are really describing.
Good and fun read though

Was that just a vendor's forum post I just read? Hope, please, just....stop and listen. Let everyone get to know you through your actions and words. Don't force anyone to get to know you. It will happen in good time. This is a community that is well known for eating it's young. We are a volatile, cantankerous bunch that like to, need to vent, whether it makes sense or not. That is part of how creative minds communicate. It's like being in a meeting and brainstorming.
As has been said many, many times. It's not just the freebie rule. That is the straw that broke the camel's back. It started before that. It started before you were hired..but came to a crescendo starting with the site redesign, the gallery mess up, the MP mess up and finally but certainly not least of all, the Prime Club mess up. It is clear now after being told time and time again how to resolve some of the issues, that people still feel they are not being listened to. Locked threads with a "nothing more to discuss here" whether or not it was meant to be dismissive that phrase is dismissive.
Imagine if you were talking to someone face to face, it was a bit heated or not so much, they look you straight in the eye and say "Nothing more to discuss here" and they turn and walk away. Would that make you feel good or would it leave you with your mouth hanging open and your brain going WHAT???!!!!. Seriously.

I don't think it's _ just_ the off site linking that has us in an uproar. As I mentioned in a previous thread, it's the total compilation of the mess over the last year or so. This was just the icing on the cake. The straw that broke the camel's back.
--Prime neutering being the worst decision I have ever seen Rendo make. They refuse to listen to the resounding complaints from BOTH customers AND vendors about it, and actually had the audacity to blame the vendors for raising their prime prices due to no longer getting 100% royalties from Prime product sales. --Implementation of Markdown language, a super-crappy programming language, for forums
Agree totally... 100%.
~Wolfie~
Add my agree totally...100%.
The Prime 'neutering' (good word for it) was for me the real kicker. I've been around way, way long time and I've seen some doozie mistakes, but this one IS by far the worst. Not only the worst idea, but the way it was handled was atrocious. As has been said already, it needs to be totally restored to the way it was. I know of a lot of vendors that started losing hundreds of dollars a month because of this. Some have moved on, some have had to raise their prices to make up for it to the point that it's just another normally priced item and of no benefit to those that have paid subscriptions. Lack of month long coupons, the benefit of a product a month being delayed and even blaming that on the vendors because "we can't find anyone that wants to contribute a free product". Of course you can't, Rendo should be hiring the vendors and paying them for the product, especially now since they are receiving a cut of the profits.
So, Hope, it's not really about you, or about Jen, or about Kristi all of you who have to take the hits for the decisions because you are on the front lines. It's about the policies and the procedures that have been done that are of no benefit to the membership, and in fact in the case of Prime were actually deceitful.
The 'so you won't get a virus' doesn't fly either. We are on the internet a LOT not just here and should already be protecting ourselves. Put security measures in by all means, but don't think that we don't already have our own as well. The security measures WE worry about are the protection of our files, our identities and our credit/debit cards and paypal accounts.
The banning and silencing of a well respected vendor, after she voiced her opinion ( as was told would be welcomed) because of 'personal attacks' that only staff seemed to see certainly was the other straw that broke the camel's back.
I just don't understand this place anymore. I've been here (yes I'll say it again until you listen and show some respect for it) since before there was a store, when it was an artistic community only. It's like seeing someone bulldoze the house you grew up in and not giving a damn about the aftermath it causes.

Hi everyone-
I know that I am the Community Manager, but these decisions aren't just made by me, they're decided by the Renderosity staff as a whole. So, please stop saying it is just me who is enforcing this, it's all of us.
Lastly, personal attacks are NOT okay and you guys didn't see it, but 3-darena's last comment was a personal attack on staff (me) as well as the first one she wrote. There's a difference between "bashing the policy" and "bashing someone's character." For personal attacks, we have no choice but to lock it and send that member a warning.
Actually I did see it before she deleted it so did several others it was responded to and the response is still in the thread hanging like a loose chad in the wind, I have a copy of it and it was not a personal attack. I saw all of her posts as well as many others that are now gone, all agreeing with her. It's not just you Hope, it's the whole range of things starting with the site redesign to the dismantling of the Prime Club. Again, the way it was done, telling the community at large that it was essentially the vendors ideas to do so, which was quickly discounted by the vendors.
It's a lot of things, it's not being listened to, it's being told "okay if you don't agree, sure go ahead and leave we don't care" posts and attitude. Renderosity wants their community feel back? Then how about listening to the community, the vendors that make the money to run this place and the membership and customers who pay the vendors to run this place? Would be a good way to start. What will all of you do for jobs, when there is nothing left but skeletal remains of a community? Don't say it can't happen, I've seen it happen to other places. There are other venues they can sell with and their customers will follow them.
Presentation is everything when communicating with a myriad of personalities.
Just wanted to get both sides out there.

Has she been banned? Yes.
Did she remove her original post? No. It was removed and looks like most of those who quoted it have been removed as well.
She did however remove her second post as she posted it just before she received a warning...as soon as she received the warning she took the second post down, but it had already been read and replied to, so there was a bit of a hinky time thing going on, as she really didn't post after the warning but it looked like she did. So there could have been a very possible hasty decision and a 'timing is everything' thing going on.
Is her store going to be down? She is still in the drop down for exclusive vendors but not in the "All vendors" Direct links still work, I have no idea what will happen when the site does their daily update.
Those be the facts, no speculation, no gossip.

Kristi, I did not assume anything. I simply asked her where they were. I'm sure she knew. Please do not presume that I was assuming. I have been around the block here long enough to know that when things like this happen more then one person starts to get involved. I am not without admin experience myself nor am I without knowledge of what it takes to build a site and maintain happiness for it's membership.

Thread: New Front Page! | Forum: Community Center
Well when I land there, the top banner or whatever it is takes up more then 50% of my 32 inch screen. Yes there is ONE count them one image from a member the rest is advertisement, at the top..as is the other things on the right side. Sorry doesn't 'scream' community to me.
My point is, if the VOM deserves spots on the front page, so does the AOM and the AOY. They all deserve to be on the front page.
Renderosity did just fine without a store for years, not saying there shouldn't be a store, I love the store, and with some tweaks it might work. But without community, there is no store and no money for the vendors. It's not just one or the other they are all important...a symbiotic although sometimes stormy relationship.
Lots of movement things are REALLY big and yes, our avatars are the size of a dime LOL!! (Just agreeing)
Thread: New Front Page! | Forum: Community Center
Really? could the amount of advertising get any more in your face? That "new and improved' frontpage is not going to get me to purchase any more then I can, but it is going to make me avoid the front page now. I don't see 'community' on the front page anymore.
Where is the AOM, the Artist of the year etc? What's the point?
