I'm a word person, because I was a novelist (haven't been able to write much since my parents died), so I have to be able to hear the lyrics and I especially like good turns of phrase or descriptic phrase. There's a good one in "The Heretic" by WASP. Blackie Lawless has unfortunately on more recent albums had, IMO, bad production where the music overwhelms the lyrics. And like you Primorge, I haven't heard much anything good since the mid- 1990's, especially with rap taking over just about everything. There are a few songs by 69 Eyes that I liked and have in my playlist and that one song by Sirenia (their lable seems to be "Goth Metal" or "Symphonic Metal"). I do like two albums by Metallica but their attitudes toward their fans leaves much to be desired.

Ah, so we're talking the types of metal where you can't hear the lyrics at all because the vocalist ran sandpaper across his larynx a few times and then crushed his throat against the mic stand. Returning to lurk mode while I listen to something classic.

I hesitate to join this coversation, but I am an '80's Metal Child (oh, yeah, they call it Hair Metal now, right?) I haven't found much that I like these last ten years, I kind of stick to the bands that I knew back then (Although I like one song by Sirenia called The Other Side). So I thought I'd drop you a couple of youtube links.
And one of my all time favorites....

Thread: How to Make V4 Short? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have been meaning to ask about this very thing. I'm working on characters that come from a friend novel and one of them was inspired by Linda Hunt who is 4'9" tall. I haven't even tried to work on that Poser figure because I had no clue how to scale V4 to anything close to that size, nor how to get clothing to then fit the character.

I have this problem with quite a few cornea and eye surface shaders. But for me it only happened after I upgraded to Win 8.1 which apprently also upgraded my video driver. Before the upgrade, I didn't have display problems like this.

Yeah, me, I had that link! That was a good thread. I wish that the discussion in it had gone further. I come here everyday looking for threads like these on lighting and materials.

I'm from 1997. Got Bryce3 first and then Poser 4. Here's my original signature figure, the Dreamspinner, wearing a custom costume created by Nerd and sold for a while in his store. Textures were mine.

**I'd like to see more Pose2Lux tutorials. I did look at acrionx's tutorial, but it covers only outdoor lighting and uses Poser's inf lights in his demo. I need a step by step walkthru of a modeling studio type set up. And it would be soooo nice if there were more materials for the free Pose2Lux.

I've been at odds with Poser's lighting system for years now, and the introduction of GC AND IDL have made things even more difficult, at least for me. I've messed around with Lux now and again using the Pose2Lux exporter but I'm not willing to wait days for a render, these are not the days of Win95 and Bryce 3! I can get a render out of Poser in about 2 hours depending on if there is glass and/or metal in it, but trying to get the lighting right for it might take me a couple of days. I mostly do not do outdoor scenes, so this ' you just need one light now ' drives me to distraction. I do studio or indoor type images and would like to use 2 or 3 spotlights from differet directions, and I guess I still have not figured out how to do this quickly and efficiently in Poser. And why can't properly set saturation and contrast at render time?

Thanks all for your replies! I did the drastic thing, short of calling Shaw cable, and turned off the cable modem for a count of 30. Went to my computer and closed Firefox, turned off my wifi for a count of 30, then turned back on and reconnected to the internet. It worked! Something funky with the modem I guess. I was hoping it wasn't because I was messing with Lux and using lots of system resources. But my roommate tried going to Deviant as well on her computer last night and it just wouldn't go. So, everything fine again. Thanks for the help!

What seems to have made them stop calling my number was telling them that I sold my computer to simplify my life. Haven't had a call from that type of scam in over seven months (knock on wood). A neighbor told me she told them she owned a Mac and they stopped calling.

This is a frequent scam going on in my area of Canada and various news articles have been published about it on tv. We've had people calling claiming to be from Microsoft tech support as many as three times a week for the last 2 years. I either tell them straight up we know they're a scam and hang up on them or just hang up on them. I've even considered getting an old fashioned metal whistle to blow into the receiver just to top it off before hanging up. We very aware people, this is a SCAM!

I don't know what's up, really! It's frustrating. I took the weekend to mess around again with Luxrender and the free Pose2Lux exporter. Spent until today when I finally got a semi-successful render, but it took six hours for that one and I can get results in Poser in about an hour and a half. Anyway, Lux hogs a lot of system resources so all I can do really is surf, but Deviant Art wouldn't load. I started messing with Lux on Saturday night and that's when it started that I can't get to Deviant Art. I stopped my last Lux render earlier in the evening and tried and tried to get Deviant Art to load. I've restarted my computer twice. I have not shut it down completely and restarting from a cold. I have no other idea what to do.

I'm using Firefox. My other bookmarks seem to be just fine. I just can't get Deviant Art to load in, as if there is some problem with their server. I even cleared my history and tried it again.
